The article says he failed to notify anyone of his whereabouts for an hour. If that's true, that is negligence at its best. I hate that he was fired but use some common sense buddy. I mean how hard would it have been to key up on the radio and tell them you were going. Or hell, even after 30 minutes..."Oh sh$t!, I should probably let my supervisor know I am still alive."...Dumbass.

I know this area well and have listened to the radio audio. He was literally 1.1 miles from a guy spraying bullets in front of the most crowded bus station in Houston and who had already shot 2 officers and murdered someone in California.
He was listening to an officer scream for help while taking fire.....and his chief expected him to sit and listen to people die.
He was actually the 2nd officer on the scene....the first officer who arrived was also shot as soon as he got out of his car.
This occured on a saturday evening when no classes were in session and school was out for summer. There were two other Rice officers on duty and this private college is fully gated and walled in....you cant even walk into the campus after hours without encountering an electric gate.
He did tell his dispatch where he was and was never even ordered back.
The Houston Police union is supporting him and he already has higher paying job offers from several other departments, a free lawyer, and his own legal defense fund which any citizen in Houston can donate to.

If two Dekalb officers had been shot 1 mile from Emory wouldn't you expect some of their officers to respond? All the Emory officers are also sheriff's deputies and have a written mutual aid policy, unlike this college.

Dont you find it odd his Sgt and the other officer on duty didnt also drive 1 mile to find him if indeed they really didnt know where he was for an hour? Its BS, he was on their TAC channel talking about which route he was going to respond and what was happening. His radio went out of range of the Rice repeater but he was heard on the Houston PD repeater the whole time.
Its not like he just disappeared and his agency was searching for him.
Learn the facts. He did what was right and was fired for it.

Thanks for the info Anon 1:10, the officer who was fired is a hero and should be treated as such. I have to ask where those other two officers were. They heard the traffic and failed to respond, they should be fired for cowardice.

Anon 8:38. You are a fool.

Sounds like something that would happen here.

Hold on, why am I a fool? I read the article and said if its true, emphasis on "if" then he should have told them where he was. I never said he should have been fired. Apparently there are details out there that are not in the article, so you call me a fool? That's why I said "if that's true."
