Believe it Or Not, We Agree With Richard "Dick" Stogner

We, same as Richard Stogner, agree that we should perform our duties in a professional manner. Not once have we asked officers to behave in any other manner. We would be ashamed if our officers acted any other way. We simply choose to exercise discretion when it comes to issuing citations.

Sacrifice? Stogner, you don't even know what sacrifice is. If you want to read about sacrifice, just click here, then take a look at our pay check stubs.

The more you open your mouth, the more resolve we have. You say our ticket strike may cause some parks and library to close. Are you serious? Library's and parks don't' put food on our tables! Tell us Dick, exactly how many furlough days have the commissioners and their staff taken over the last 2 years? When is the last time we, the police, received a raise in upwards of 40 percent per year, including a car allowance?

People, do you see the line of folks at Recorders Court? Lined up across the grass even. We have been writing so many tickets people have no where to stand! All those people are lined up to put cash in the county coffers. Stogner says the county can't afford a ticket strike. Well that's the commissioners fault, not our. We can't afford any more cuts to our pay and benefits!

Be prepared for the hassle from the command staff to begin. Don't let the threats of being transferred to different watches, precincts and the loss of extra jobs get to you.

Stay strong, stay united.

Really, Dick? You want to play that card? Our last ticket "slow down" cost the county $5 million. That's a lot of money, no doubts there. But how much money did the county spend/waste defending YOU and your old RACIST BOSS, Vernon Jones??? Wasn't the total bill somewhere around $15 million?? So who the hell are to to say anything about the police department writing fewer tickets when YOU and your racist buddies cost the county 3 TIMES as much?!?!?

In closing, screw you, Stogner, you racist pig! Enjoy your warm spot in hell that waiting for you!

I love the quote from Stognar "Everyone has to sacrifice, even officers.".

WTF?

Sacrifice?

The CEO has 24 highly paid personal staff doing the work of 8 employees. The CEO is the highest paid local government official in the state of Georgia, his staff the highest paid, They receive 50 grand termination bonuses when they screw up and are fired, the entire staff receive 450+ a month for a transportation allowance, they work in immaculate offices.

Meanwhile we have the poor chumps at the Tax Commissioners office working for years under leaking roofs and substandard pay.

Thanks Richard, for explaining the DeKalb CEO's position on the issue.

Perhaps in the next interview you can explain the corrective actions of DeKalb government in your federal conviction of "Creating a hostile environment for employees" and your subsequent reemployment as the CEO's chief of staff.

Let me 1st say this: I am radio. I think fire, PD and radio need to stick together. We are not so different as some ops and officers think. We both work EVERY weekend and Holidays. We are both treated like 8 hour desk employees. Both our jobs hold the highest of liability if we make a mistake and for the most part are thought of negatively by the fools we serve (the public). We are both MORE than Necessary to the public and the commissioners! While the 8 hour employees are @ HOME on holidays having cookouts we are the ones @WORK making sure they don't choke on ribs, their house burns down, or get robbed! We are NOT 8 hour employees but you want to treat us as such!

1st no raises in 4-5 years, then furloughs and now changes to our leave accrual!!? Why should I have to deplete my leave faster because my department is on 12 hours? How is that FAIR To ME?? So I gotta use 4 extra hours of leave? We are treated like crap but held to the highest of standards! And here's the kicker for radio: OUR SALARIES DON'T COME OUT OF THE COUNTIES BUDGET!!! We are paid from the 911 fees charged on every home and cell phn bill! And that money is suppose to ONLY be used for the functioning of 911! It cannot be used to help their budget deficit but I bet they are doing just that! ILLEGALLY!

So why is 911 even being furloughed? Why furlough ANYONE in public safety? We are a NECESSITY not an option! Maybe they will see that when a tragedy directly effects them and the choices they made regarding us causes a personal loss of property or life! There is nothing Fire and radio can NOT do to challenge the commish but I am 10000000% behind PD taking away a source of revenue that seems to only benefit them! Damn parks in recs and librarians! Their jobs don't require them to have to worry if they will return home the way they left or return home @ all. They don't have to hear or see the evil and stupid shit people have to offer! PAY ME WHAT I AM WORTH and if I am not worth so much make our departments a regular 9 to 5 like you treat us and see how the fall out of our absence from the 16 hours we are closed affects the county's budget! Stick it to em DKPD!! I support you!!

Now Stog...Say your sorry to the troops! Or it is time out for you!

None of the DeKalb County employees including police have any respect for this crusty old fool. The vast majority of DeKalb‘s citizens, black and white, were sick of Vernon Jones’ arrogant criminal behavior. This was made clear to Ellis when he was elected CEO. And what does Ellis do? He appoints Vernon Jones’ closest henchman to run the county. And now DeKalb County is the same dysfunctional government it was under Jones. And Burrell Ellis is too damn stupid to figure out why.

Every DeKalb County citizen I talk to says they are tired of the idiots who run this government. Well the primary is in 12 months. A new CEO may not cure all of the ills but it is a good place to start.

As I've stated before I have absolutely no use for the majority of the officers whining on here about their situation. I'm no rookie and been with DKPD for 20+ yrs...We did this crap years ago with Derwin Brown and believe me this ticket slow down is not the way to solve our dilemma. Like I said before, how many of you that are on here preaching for a ticket strike have taken you sorry asses to a BOC meeting and stood united against the BS coming out of Decatur....NONE OF YOU. I know the ones that have been there over the past several months, over the past couple of years and it's despicable. You guys and gals are a bunch of pansy asses who want nothing more than to have someone fight your battles for you while you sit back in the shadows making lame ass excuses as to why you can't make it to the meetings.

I truly have no sympathy for you, and yes everything you do will affect me when it comes to this ridiculous ticket strike. It's suicide to take this path and all it's going to do is pile on more crap for us all to have to burden.

Unfortunately I've been out there trying to do my part but standing there as a One Man Band ain't cutting it...the commissioners know very well that the majority of this department lacks the ability to unite and show a strong presence...It can be done and it was done before but the Candy Ass Officers we have working here now are nothing more than a bunch of lazy, crying, slobbering babies....and looking for a pacifier to suck on. Well I'm so sick of listening to you guys whine about what you have sacrificed because I'm in the same freakin boat. The only difference is I've been there sitting and watching ...basically alone. The few who have come know exactly what I'm saying and probably know who I am. Make no bones about it...this ticket strike idea is a bomb waiting to go off in our faces and that's exactly what is going to happen.

If you want to do something then we need to come together as a unified body....a force to be reckoned with...not this ticket strike crap. I'm just as sick of the BS as all of you. I miss my merit increases, I hate the furloughs, and I hate losing what few benefits that still remain.

You want to do something productive get your asses into Decatur to the Maloof Bldg and let the BOC see us all sitting there at every meeting...sometimes things are worth fighting for and if we have to get dirty doing it then let's get dirty but a "TICKET STRIKE" is not the answer...

It truly disgust me to hear all of you talk this big bad shit you're going to do....If you want to do some big bad shit then get off of your asses and go to these BOC meetings...let's get united and show those clowns in Decatur that they have to stop screwing with Dekalb Co Employees.

If you guys put as much energy into pulling yourselves together as one large united force as you've done on this site bitching about a ticket strike perhaps we could get something accomplished. Unfortunately and it's sad but like I've said it's always the same... "A NO SHOW"...

Ticket strike! We support you 100%!

HAHAHAHAHAHA the jackass in that video is gonna get a bench warrant slapped on him...since when does "ticket strike/slowdown/whatever wording" mean that you don't go to court for the tickets you've already written? One drawback to this publicity is that idiots are going to start thinking they can do whatever they want out there and that we're no longer doing anything about it. Oh well, I guess they'll just have to learn...

I do believe that we have their attention. This is all the more reason to move forward with our plan. WARNINGS WORK!!!!

To July 25, 2011 11:50 PM:

I love dispatchers like you. I dont know who you are but your one of the few reason I stayed with DKPD as long as I did. Stick with PD and dont play the the commissioners games. Document everything that even appears to be similar to a hostile work environment. Save every single memo that comes out regarding this mess. (It always amazes me how those interoffice memo's seem to magically disappear) And finally sue thier silly asses..... then retire. With idiots like Stogner it wont take much longer.

Finally, I wonder what 15 million dollars split up between all public safety employees would amount too? I bet we could all call it even until we sue them again for the same crap next year.

This from a man who took the early out "Golden Parachute " that by the way WE ARE All NOW PAYING FOR!!!! and now is back as a high paid consultant? Not to mention the nice discrimination suit you cost this county? Who paid for all that Mr. Stogner? The tax payers, Sacrifice you are a hypocrite Mr. Stogner and part of the problem with this county! Sacrifice is the that officer sitting up in the ICU unit at Grady Hospital wondering if he will ever work again, Sacrifice is the Clayton County deputy that lost his life trying to arrest some psycho armed robber! Sacrifice don't tell us about sacrifice! Let us do our jobs un harassed, Leave our pay and pension alone !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stogner,

When is the next BOC meeting? Can we all agree to attend, if possible? Will someone post it here and we all pass the word? As for lone ranger, How's east command staff treating you? Retire soon please..you are part of the problem! Will the next wave of new leaders please stand, our current leaders are on their knees..not praying either..but they hope to make it to their waiting pensions and will do all they can to look out for themselves.

Anon 11:32, a federal court ruled that Vernon Jones and Stogner were discriminating against white employees and some black employees who would go along with the discrimination. That's racism where I come from. It ended up costing the county millions of dollars. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you post!

Anon 11:32

Maybe you just got here six months ago and have no idea what you are talking about. Vernon Jones was accused of fostering a hostile work environment and racism. Stogner was accused of helping Vernon with these deplorable activities. Lawsuits were filed in federal court and there was a trial. Both Stogner and Jones were found to have participated in race discrimination during their time in power. Their actions cost DeKalb County a huge sum of money. We are just pointing out the facts and I think that it is clearly Stogner’s credibility in question rather than ours.

Nothing Vernon Jones was accused of ever surprised me but I was shocked when Ellis, after facts were proven in court, brought Stogner back to run the county AGAIN!

Back in the day, when Derwin Brown was here, he led us in our picketing at the BOC meetings and the speaking to the commissioners. These two actions got the BOCs attention and positive change came for all who worked in the Department. We showed up in mass at the BOC meetings, not just a scattered few. A ticket slow down will give the BOC, Stogner and Ransom the ammo they need to put the screws to us for furlough days, higher pension contributions and additional pay cuts.

To Tucker Evening Watch, your ignorance speaks to the level of experience you have with the Department. I work at Tucker and you sure don't speak for me. I would bet you weren't even employed by the County when some of us were getting hosed on the inept application they did of the Price-Waterhouse study. That hose job continues to plague those of us affected by it, to this day, and will continue to affect us the rest of our days. Chief O'Brien has fought hard for us. But, the BOC, and in particular Stogner and Ransom, have done as they please without regard of what anyone else has to say. Look at the mess Atlanta has, that's where Ransom came from.

Quit blaming Chief O'Brien and Dir. Miller. Anyone with any sense can see that this is ALL coming from Decatur. Don't think Commissioner Boyer is your pal; either. She heads the Employee Relations Committee. What fellow employee do you know sits on this committee? The ERC is a ruse for determining ways to get more from the employees.

We need to band together as a group and show up in mass at BOC meetings.

Here's the latest from our supervisors meeting. A plan of ownership is in the mix meaning each beat car will be responsible for lessening crime via traffic enforcement, etc. You'll be held accountable via productivity reports and crime analysis. Your safety team leader will be responsible for monitoring you and making sure you constantly improve over time. The usual BS rhetoric. Good luck guys/gals.

Finally, at least someone on here has some rational thinking...Anon 7:52 you're absolutely "Right On" with your comment.

It appears that the only ones around here that do have the sense necessary are the veterans...and I mean the true veterans...those of us who have done this show before...

Oh and by the way to the smart ass that thinks I'm an East Precinct Officer....wrong...but I can tell you I've worked every Precinct in this dept....including CID...and my patches are GOLD, which truly sucks because I don't think of myself as one of them...my heart is with the Officers that I stand united with....and one more thing, you wouldn't know a good leader if they walked up and bit you on the ass because you've got your head stuck in a hole called you ASS...

Bwhaa haaa haaaa... unbelievable the crap that is being posted here. Dat BOC dont give a crap what you think or say cuz u dont vote or live in DeKalb County, officer. Face it, u got no power and no leverage to negotiate with. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING U CAN DO EXCEPT GET ANOTHER JOB SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Standby for some new fraternization policies for supervisors and non-supervisors as well. Anyone seen a memo regarding prohibiting encouraging our actions as stated in news story? Thought not, all bark and no bite as usual.

Anon 11:24- what the hell are you trying to say? Can you re-post and proofread what you type before clicking submit because i am interested in what you have to say, i think.
