Officer Shot During Traffic Stop

An example of what can go very wrong when generating revenue for the likes of Sharon Sutton and the rest of the commissioners.

This time, we got lucky.

Come on blogmaster, maybe Officer Fulton was doing his job by trying to arrest a criminal. Thank God he is ok.

Officer Fulton, Thank You for your service and we hope you recover quickly.

I heard the radio traffic. Ofcr Fulton was EXTREMELY calm while giving out his traffic. The dispatcher was calm while relaying everything and getting help rendered. But that Sgt was yelling bloody murder and was in a panic. For a second I thought it was him that was shot. Glad to know Ofcr Fulton is doing great. I have so much respect for officers and it always awes me how quickly and efficiently you all muster together to come to your fellow officers' aide!

Blogmaster you sound like a real ass on this one. Officer Fulton was not getting revenue for the county!! HE WAS DOING HIS JOB! Some of you have clearly forgotten about the oath you took! Hopefully you took that oath because you want to be a productive member of society! You do not work for the crooks running this county! You work for the betterment of society! Get well brother!!! Praying for you!

I think all the blogmaster was saying is exactly what he said, things can go terrible wrong in this job, whether you are catching a really bad guy or stopping a car to meet your ticket quota so you won't be threatened with losing your extra job.
You never know who is in the car you are pulling over. But we do know the county relies on us for revenue, and they demand we produce revenue. And somebody is going to get killed over it.

Many officers have the depth of understanding that the blogmaster does not. Blogmaster calls it generating revenue. Officers who understand, are commited to a higher purpose. Arresting perpetrators makes for a safer society.

I'm with the blogmaster on this one. Our thoughts are with Officer Fulton in his time of healing and we thank him for his service to the county. At least, we are not making plans for his funeral. Get well Fulton. However, the facts still remain, was he one of the officers in on the strike or was he trying to appease the sgts. Yes, we are officers, however, revenue generating cannot replace anyone of our lives if we run across the wrong motorist with nothing to lose. I rather get shot while doing legitimate police work, saving a life of a citizen than out here writing a ticket because I was told to do so or else. At the end of the day, I answer to the citizens not the politicians.

Don't be fool with that Law Degree crap. It means nothing if you are not practicing law and would you want "wiz" as your attorney on anything? Has he taken the Bar yet?

Hope the officer gets well soon. Dekalb is getting worst as the days go by.

It is such good news to hear that Off. Fulton survived and with no life-threatening injuries. Although the healing process will still be timely at least no one has to wear black tape on their badges! You all do so much for us citizens in this county.... you risk your life every time you do a pull-over and I just have to keep asking the same question: what is the major problem that the BOC and Ellis just can't see your true value to our communities when time comes to vote on salary increases, benefits, pension contributions, etc? To you all I'd like to say as I have before : on behalf of our Northlake neighborhood: thank you so much for all you do to help make DeKalb a safer place to live, work and shop. If only we could convince them to do more than "just listen".

The higher the rank in this department the more a total moron you have to be on the radio.

I agree that this had nothing to do with a "ticket quota". This officer was doing his job and unfortunately was shot by a piece of shit who has no value for life. There were many officers doing their jobs when this happened. This is the true meaning of a thin blue line. So many rushed to help and that's what police officers do.

I'm glad officer Fulton is going to be o.k. Now it's time to catch the SOB

Officer Fulton was doing his job. But that job is not appreciated by people like Ellis and Sutton. Ellis and Sutton went out of their way to give huge raises to their little secretaries and their friends, but not cops. We haven't seen a raise in 4 or 5 years now. Clearly, whatever those people are doing is worth more than what Officer was doing.

If anybody gets a POAP or complaint from a commissioner's office, forward it Ellis' secretary, or one of Sutton's friends. They got a huge raises.

Fulton is a true example of a Police Officer. He works the mean streets and does not complain. He does see the big picture and commits himself to a higher cause.

Thank you Sir.

The Blog Master would have you believe the Officer was making cake for the County. I say he was doing his JOB, not being a F OFF like the Blog Master would have all of the Officers being.
To that I say just retire BM, you already have in the minds of the working man.

Why do we have a POS public safety director. Dekalb is the most top heavy police force in the state.

How can ANY of you turn this into some kind of political statement??? What is wrong with you people? Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves.

This incident is a reminder that we are in a dangerous profession. There are no "routine" traffic stops. There are people out here willing to use deadly force against you and you better be prepared to return the favor. Thats what we should be talking about!

My prayers are with the officer for a speedy recovery. A thank you goes out to Fire/EMS, and Grady for the treatment of his wounds. Another thank you goes out to everyone that assisted in catching this violent felon. It is always uplifting to see so many officers from local, state, and federal agencies come togther and put this felon in jail where he belongs!
