They're Doing It Again!

Here we go again. While the commissioners are cutting our benefits and raising our pension contributions by 100, they create a job for one of their own, and then give them a yearly pay raise over 13 percent, RETROACTIVE!

The disgust!

The two cowards, Burrell Ellis and Dick Stogner refuse to comment on this hideous decision. One reason is because they are in on the fix, and the other is Morris Williams' argument doesn’t hold water.

For once in this woman’s life, Sharon Barnes needs to step up and do the right thing. She needs to tell her "aide" she made a mistake, and for the good of the county and the police department, she should resend the job offer. But then again, some people, especially Sharon Barnes, just don't know how to do the right thing. To her, thievery is the right thing.

The board of commissioners as a whole need to speak out against this and stop it now! Don't they see how this effects the morale of the very ones that keep them safe at night?

With this kind of action, this type of immoral act, the commissioners expect us to swallow the return of our 20 hours of holiday pay that was taken away, and be grateful. Why don't the commissioners just attend each roll call and just spit in our faces? Same differance.

The command staff is delusional if they think that giving our 20 hours of holiday pay would make us all just dandy.

You know, sometimes you just gotta step up and take one for the team.

Stay strong, stay united.

How bout we all write B.E and his cronies a long copy for 16-68?

Okay. Explain why you officers are getting the shaft with Holiday pay when I just read that Commissioner Sutton not only gave a promotion to but gave over a 13% pay raise to her staff member? You officers are getting screwed left and right. Read the story in the AJC. If there is no money for raises or to lower insurance cost for you guys then where is this money coming from. Take a stand already I would like someone to come if I dial 911 if i'm not put on hold that is.

Commissioner Sutton, on the budget committee just appoints a aide to Chief of Staff 13.5 % raise retroactive 3 months, which this position was abolished. You are a freegin idiot and just gave us the last reason we need to support a ticket strike.

Commission meeting today, Tuesday 8/9/11, at 9am. Open comments start around 9:45am after the CEO and BOC get finished taking goody-goody photos and congratulating themselves. Show them you care and are tired of being abused. Be there.

I'm going to put this out there and see if there is enough support to follow through. If enough people will come out I'll create a way to be in contact and organize the entire event. I propose that all uniform, special ops, cid, and any other dekalb county officer band together and meet at the next commission meeting. While at the meeting we lay down an ultimatum. Either the BOC beings to agree with out demands or we all put in our 2 weeks notice. If enough people are there then the BOC can not ignore us. If they fail to agree to our terms then we each hand our notice to Chief OB on the spot. Then we can see how they feel when they have no police officers left in the county.

Events like this is why DeKalb employee morale is tanked.
Sherry Sutton and her fellow mooching slackers of the dominant political party that controls DeKalb government provides only more evidence that employee policy does not extend to their staffs or themselves.
DeKalb employees fail to understand the upward mobility of the political staff in light of the downward mobility of rank n' file employees in salaries, benefits and all the rest for the last fracken' decade.
It is noteworthy that the dominant DeKalb ruling party advocates labor with their support of the Wisconsin teachers unions and the federal labor board actions preventing Boeing aircraft from opening a new manufacturing plant in non-union South Carolina.
Hypocritically, the dominant DeKalb political party ignores their own employees, while advancing their own personal staffs and themselves.
This elitist attitude of ignoring the hired help, ignoring discussion with the employees and providing handsomely for themselves and staff provides ample evidence that DeKalb government's ruling party is both hypocritical and dishonest in their employee policies with DeKalb government workers.

This is how the BOC does business. Take take take from the lowley employees pay and citizens tax money. Then they line their pockets and their friends pockets. Cant you see its a criminal enterprise. One thing is for sure, they will NOT use money being generated from tickets on my watch. This was the final straw for me. ABSOLUTELY NO MORE TICKETS !!!!!!!!!! until this illegal activity from the BOC stops.

That should sit well with everyone promoted after they did away with the second 5% associated with increased rank and responsibility ...... Damn.... she 13%.....

Can you give me some more salt for these wounds please!

Because the offer had been made? How about when I was employed two years ago and offered a certain salary...and I haven't seen that number yet because of all the furloughs!

Anonymous said...

Listen you will be seeing a lot of these last ditch efforts to get something for their cronies as they know the county ship is sinking and their are not enough life preservers.

Hey, Morris Williams!!!!!!!, I was OFFERED a merit increase previously based on my performance back as far as 7 years ago and I still havent received one yet. Lets see............. I have got a 4.6 out of a possible 5 rating or better for the past 7 years. Multiply that by 4% and you get 28%. Looks like I am due a heafty raise plus back pay. Can I get that retroed also? I DIDNT THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!! idiot........

Unbelievable. Bad check writer in charge or on budget committee? Bad check writer doesn't even go to jail on warrant? Bad check writer gives 13.5% raise that is retroactive to May? Bad check writer should have been kicked off Commission when it came to light. Disgusting. Ellis, et al. needs to stop this nonsense. Public safety all over this Country taking hits left and right on raises, pensions, etc. Seniors all taking a hit. Stop this BS and do what is right or there will be more than a ticket strike because people are going to rebel like hell. Teachers getting slammed at every turn.

50000 raise is more than some make a year in their original salary

Don't worry about it. Just keep writing all your long copies during your shift so that the rise can be paid for.

For the love of God, can the blogmaster post the BOC meeting schedules so that everyone can have the information at their fingerprints.

I have an idea to all of those that complain. Why don't you get a new job? If you feel status quo is never going to change at DeKalb, maybe you need to make a change. For God sakes your complaints will not change anything. It's obvious that your complaints are falling upon deaf ears and blinds eyes. It's kind of like pissing in the wind and complaining about getting wet. Just turn another direction, do your business, and all will be fine.

I worked for DeKalb for 10 years. Last year I notice some changes being made throughout the county. So I religiously started shopping my resume. I was offered a great opportunity with a great company making $15,000 more annually! If this can happen to me this can happen to anyone.

The BOC over the last 10 years is just a symptom of a much bigger problem.
A large portion of the county voters are poor, products of a horrible school system, and have been reduced to surfdom under a socialist system of housing vouchers, HUD section 8, food stamps, etc.
They are given just enough from the gov't nipple to keep voting for the hate mongers who convince them that whitey or rich people are the reason for their multi generation poverty.....so they keep voting for the same crooks....yet nothing changes and their children turn into tattooed gang bangers who sell rocks and shoot each other. Yet these same leaders convince them that the police are the criminal.

Dekalb County is just another example of what hundreds of counties and cities which have been run into the ground by liberal crooks looks like.

How does someone get a job that was eliminated? Who cares if Sharon Barnes Sutton offered the job before it was eliminated? The point is, it was eliminated! It happens all of the time in the private sector! Only in DeKalb County government does this type of stupidity happen!

"Oh, no, you can't eliminate that vacant job, because I already promised it to someone!"

The only way this gets the right attention is if you all stand together. Local police officers risk more and gain less in every city and county in Georgia. Good luck.

Bolton used to order his entire Command Staff to every BOC meeting. They would sit for hours and nothing change.

Im for posting the dates and times of general BOC meetings and any special meetings on issues that may effect us.

Even though you can dig this info up on DeKalb govt website, I think it would be more convenient for everyone that frequents this website if it was posted. Perhaps a link on the left hand column might be helpful

I think that we should all start making an effort to show up to meetings. I am one that believes more adverse changes are coming down the pipe for us in this half of the year to take effect next year....We need to make our presence known before its too late...if its not to late already

Blogmaster...Please consider the suggestion...thank you

Hey,what is this "they" stuff.
It is Barnes Sutton AGAIN.
Lay you odds the paper work was post dated.
What else can explain why the offer was made in April and not processed till August !
Why didn,t she have to go to the budget committee to justify the position?
All of the shouting and bitching you miss the real issues and questions.
someone do an open records request and demand to see the creation date of the original files onBarnes Sutton's laptop. Better yet demand to see the original computer file on her assistant's computer. I bet Sutton cannot even turn on a computer

Anonymous said...

"They're" at it again because the commissioners and the ceo continue to find ways to give their own people raises, but not us. It was Sutton this time, but it was others before her.

I agree with the post dated paper work theory. That's probably how Sutton writes all of her rubber checks.

New FBI unit. Great article on wbstv.com
Lamkin asked if you know of any corruption please report it by calling the FBI’s corruption hotline at 877-428-5324
FOR CORRUPT POLITICIANS
Start calling!

by calling out everyone you have no impact or influence
Like when there is a dirty cop, you focus on the bad guys one at a time.
Shout slanderous remarks and you all get dismissed as haters.
Focus on what you know and what you can prove, then you build credibility. Get the facts and call her out at a BOC meeting .
Then you accomplish something.
If you have the goods on another commissioner, then call them out next.
Stop complaing and DO SOMETHING that moves the ball.
The Slowdown sounds great but in the long run the revenue will be made up at the expense of people getting fired, and this time cops will be on the list.
Force MORE furlough days and COPS will not be spared.
BE smart.
Burrell a crook? be specific and call him out on it.
Use the FBI hot line but do something

To anon 9:57 Thank you so much for the FBI hotline number. I most assuredly will make that call & will do my best to get my friends & neighbors to do the same. I wish some of these writers would stop lumping all of us DeKalb citizens into one basket because there are many, many of us who DO care about what is being done to our officers but we, too, are frustrated as our e-mails, phone calls, letters & even one on one conversations as well as appearances at the BOC meetings seem to make no difference. We can only do so much at this moment but when election time comes around, there will be a day of reckoning. Long overdue! Let's just hope that some honest, decent, caring individuals will step forward & run for these positions. Maybe this ship will not completely sink before we all have our day to vote out these Board of Crooks -- including, but not limited to, Ellis.

Thank You so much for those encouraging words Ms. Cheyenne Summer

I for one know that there are numerous citizens out there ready to back and support the DKPD Officers...

Now if we could only get them to show at the BOC meetings and unite
