Wow they want Buford Hwy still. That will consume their police resources for sure!!!

There goes what's left of North Precinct. Everyone is fleeing from this god forsaken sinking ship!!

DeKalb County is turning into another Fulton County!

Anonymous said...

Face it, no decent people want to live or work around the likes of the lying, thieving, BOC. There goes the neighborhood...

DeKalb politics suck.
This map is the Brookhaven citizen's response.
DeKalb's counter-response;
"County Commissioner Jeff Rader has proposed the Legislature halt new cities or annexations in DeKalb until it can set up a task force to study what impact Brookhaven – and other cities that could follow – would have on the county’s ability to raise money and provide services." (AJC)
Is tacit admission that the DeKalb BOC's only interest in North DeKalb is the revenue stream generated by their taxes.
South DeKalb has been receiving nearly all the "goodies" from the county for the last twenty years. The only new public facilities built in N. DeKalb is the Brookrun park and that was by accident.
There is only one recreation center located in N. DeKalb, Briarwood Rec Ctr located in the heart of the Hispanic immigrant community near Buford Hwy, when I serviced the facility it was nearly always deserted except for staff, of course none of the staff speak Spanish nor display the slightest interest in serving the Hispanic citizens surrounding the Rec Ctr.
Briarwood Rec Ctr is a prime example why Brookhaven is considering secession from DeKalb county government.
The Democrat afro-centric CEO/BOC just does not care. If you aren't black, you don't amount to jack-squat as far as the CEO/BOC are concerned, just your tax revenue.
Note to CEO/BOC, instead of passing a law to prevent Brookhaven from withdrawing from the county, why don't y'all hold about four town-hall meetings with the Brookhaven citizens, listen to their complaints and then fix the issues?
The county is following the same path it took with Dunwoody and look at the results. The county lost the revenue and Dunwoody citizens are pleased with their new and responsive government.
DeKalb's Democrats need to take a hard look at how and why they discriminate against N. DeKalb citizens in favor of S. DeKalb.
The discrimination is unwarranted and hypocritical, and reeks of class-warfare and racial discrimination. S. DeKalb is no longer poor, and N. DeKalb no longer rich and white.
My extremely opinionated opinion,
KenC

Loflyer. EXCELLENT analysis and the absolute TRUTH as I see it. Thanks for your imput.Really too bad that the BOC does not see these situations in realistic and logical terms. That is the reason we are in the black hole that we are in today. God help the good citizens of Dekalb County with leadership like this !

I have a question that maybe someone can answer. The RFP for county ambulance service calls for the entire county with the exception of Dunwoody. DeKalb would still provide ambulance service for Dunwoody. Why is this? Is Rural Metro not good enough for Dunwoody or is the rest of the county ( ie. Brookhaven ) not as good as Dunwoody? Why would some citizens receive one service and other taxpayers receive another ( maybe considered better ) service. Which one is the truth BOC. You already s**t on Dunwoody, why do you now wantto act as if they are better than the taxpayers in the rest of the county. Maybe the other municipalities should be asking if there is a know problem with the private service that would make Dunwoody not want them. CBS sounds like a "Tough Question"

Those office buildings just south of Buford Hwy bring in lots of tax revenue that require very little police services. If Buford Hwy could be patrolled properly and Code enforcement will be enforced, those apartments will be torn down and new properties developed. Obviously, some folks haven't been in this neck of the woods in quiet sometime. Its changed for the better and development is moving to the south.

I foresee a good many layoffs coming to DKPD anyway but especially if Brookhaven annexes. Look at the trend out west, they aren't firing the critical employees handling the 911 calls. They are laying off the $70,000.00 plus Lts and such. In all reality a MPO here can make a watchlist, enter citations, and once every blue moon email out a significant event. Additionally I'm sure they realize who brings in income and who wastes it playing on the internet all day in their office.

Anonymous said...

Yep I see the same thing headed our way. Make yourself a fiscal positive (revenue producer) or start looking for other employment.

Just a thought said...

Yea what do Lts. do all day? Do we really need two Lts to make watch lists and approve off days and make up "specials". The supervisors keep telling the workers to do more work, when in reality its the supervisors who should do more. What do captains do all day? Meetings with other captains and do nothing majors. What I notice in the past is simply this, our watch works better when supervisors are NOT at work supervising.

Dekalb is a county that holds favor with me.

This is the Democratic way of setting up a new city because if the BOC and the CEO have it their way, this is what Brookhaven will come to light as.

If the taxpayers of Brookhaven had it their way (total opposite of BOC & CEO) that map would really shrink, and Jeff Radar would still be the fat tall prick that he is.
Jeff Radar is no different than the rest of the bunch on the commission, just another self-centered crook.

If the taxpayers of Brookhaven want to be a city, let them draw the district lines and forget Dekalb County Government for their two cents

Anon 9:32, were those numbers supposed to suggest Dunwoody has more crime now and are worse off? Dunwoody always had crime, just like every other city in this country. The difference now is instead of having 2 officers per shift and no crime scene investigators responding, unless you're expected to die from s violent crime, Dunwoody now has at least 6 officers working and crime scene will come out on burglaries. Dekalb gave you a case number and a missing items list to fill out. I'd say Dunwoody is better off now.

Anonymous said...

When DeKalb had Dunwoody they had at leasr 3 officers per shift and a sergeant. And when hell broke loose DeKalb County had alot more resources to send to them. Anyone remember the tornado that devastated them. DeKalb took care of Dunwoody. If Dunwoody gets a SWAT call out, the citizens are short. When its rush our and cars crash on 285 their resources are depleted. The mall is great, all that retail. Dunwoody gets to shuttle prisoners to the jail while north Dunwoody wonders where their patrols are.

I have not seen a city so giddy over parks. If the voters approve, their taxes will go up to buy a big piece of park land near Georgetown. I would'nt vote for it. Hire a couple more police officers for heaven's sake.

Still trying for the Ga. Music Hall of Fame?

Why does government need to provide recreation on such a scale. When I was a kid we threw a football in the back yard or went to the neighborhood pool for recreation.

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:09... DKPD staffed Dunwoody with at least 3 officers for their 3 shifts plus a COPS and NET. Dunwoody now has two shifts of 4 to 6 officers. Not much difference in manpower to answer 911 calls. DKPD provided CSI that responded to residential burglaries while every other agency didn't. All DKPD did was cut back CSI to what everyone else provided. Not sure what "unless you're expected to die from s violent crime" means unless it has something to do with CSI work on murder investigations. DKPD never left the Dunwoody area with 3 open murders.

TO the person worrying about the RFP. The county must maintain three transport units to keep its license with the state. They put them in Dunwoody because it is slower and easier to find people to ride those trucks. Also the people in Dunwoody are mostly insured and can afford the cost of an ambulance ride unlike their counterparts to the south who feel an ambulance is their God given right to tote them where ever they want to go for what ever nonemergent complaint they have. The taxpayers could be saved a great expense if the BOC , The Wiz and the other Obrien would look at the EMS system and fix it. Instead we are trying to run it like it was 30 yrs ago very inefficiantly.

There are 198 incorporated cities in LA County, CA, nearly all of them have their own police forces.
Even if every square inch of Dekalb were its own incorporated city with its own police force, Dekalb would be just fine....although there would be no Dekalb CO PD....except maybe a few officers to guard the county buildings.

Dunwoody has a drastically better response time overall than Dekalb could ever dream of, they have a much higher arrest rate on cases assigned to detectives, they have a much higher arrest rate on hit and runs that Dekalb never even would investigate short of someone being killed.

Police services are far better with Dunwoody PD than under Dekalb.
When you call 911 in Dunwoody you actually have an officer dispatched within seconds to the right address unlike dekalb where you sit on hold, cant understand the call taker, and they wait 15 mins to dispatch the officer to the wrong address only for him to write a report and no follow up ever occurs.

Anonymous said...

If the blacks are so mad about this why dont they expand Lithonia to cover all of south Dekalb and see how awesome that city is?

Anonymous said...

I want to comment on the new City of Dunwoody. From the perspective of a retired law enforcement officer living in this city, it has been great. Especially with such rapid police response time.

Anonymous said...

The City of Dunwoody came about due to being ignored by the BOC and incompetence. That is all there is to it. Thank Vernon Jones when the Dekalb Co voters re elect him and they will. But maybe VJ will run for the Mayor of Brookhaven and do for Brookhaven what he did for Dekalb Co.

Well said 10:16pm
I for one am glad dunwoody branched off, especially from 911. I felt like I was listening to the airport security radio traffic. Now maybe they can get their own blog too and stay out of our business.

Anon 11:59...... "Police services are far better with Dunwoody PD than under Dekalb.

Please provide the incident where someone sat on hold for 15 minutes before a call taker picked up. Which call taker are you refering to that doesn't speak english and what call was dispatched in which the dispatcher and not the caller provided the wrong address? I would also like to know how you know that DKPD doesn't follow up on reports? Not knocking the DPD but to insinuate that DKPD didn't police Dunwoody based on your complete misinformation is wrong

Anonymous said...

There was never follow up by DKPD into the credit card fraud that I reported in what is now Dunwoody.

Anonymous said...

Dunwoody has a 6 man police dept.....what do u expect.....I'm not impressed...more power to them though....it would be a better comparison to compare them to Sandy Springs, Milton or Chamblee...

Anonymous said...

anon 6:41 ...wouldn't the credit card company be the victim? not sure how your blaming dkpd for not following up on an instance where your not the vicitm...

Anonymous said...

The best thing to ever happen to the BOC in Dekalb will be the same slap in the face Fulton's BOC got when Johns Creek, Milton, Sandy Springs, and Chattahoochee Hills all became cities and started their own police/fire.

Anonymous said...

It was my credit card and I filed the report. Someone should have called me, since I was listed as the victim in the report.

Anonymous said...

If you want to call the credit card company the victim, then the card holder should have been contacted as a witness. Maybe there are other victims, or a pattern that could be established by talking to the witness. Please tell me you're not a cop!

Anonymous said...

The reality of being a "VICTIM" in Dekalb means a detective will probably call to see if you are interested in prosecuting in the off chance an arrest is made. Most say no and the case is then closed or suspended based on leads then subsequently filed away. Unfortunately the squeaky wheel STILL gets the oil so unless you insist on an officer writing a report or prosecuting you'll continue to get what you pay for, NOTHING. Incidentally I live in a decent community and intend on keeping it that way so I call for every noise ordinance violation, etc. and insist on prosecution. That's the only way you keep an area from deteriorating and keep your property value on par.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice that the new map includes more than half of PDK?

Anonymous said...

10/26 7:09 - It's a horrible feeling to be violated by some lowlife criminal. But the truth is the kind of crime that happened to you is only going to continue to increase, and there's a message in that for all of us. Everyone everywhere is overworked these days. You should initiate follow up, and you may STILL get nowhere. I'm assuming manpower is eaten up by more violent crimes. I'm just a citizen - not Dekalb employee. I don't like it either, but it is the reality of today. Don't blame our officers.
Good luck to you - I hope you are able to resolve your situation in every way.

It's pretty clear at this point spending by the BOC will not lessen to a responsible level and conservative areas will continue to annex. Look at the rewards DC bestows on Dekalb's leaders. These same people know they will gain lofty appointments and receive bailouts once bankruptcy is declared by keeping with the current Democrat agenda. Unfortunately it is the responsible conservative that is left paying for it via their tax dollars. Same old song & dance in Dekalb so don't waste your time expecting anything different.

Anonymous said...

PDK is already the city of Chamblee.. FYI

Anonymous said...

For the naysayers of the city of Dunwoody and as an ex DKPD......North Precinct......Dunwoody always got the shaft. Especially on Morning Watch. Who are you kidding. One car outside the Perimeter many a night.

Short shift? Cut the 120 n 130 cars......never the 140 car,,,,, next up the 150 car.

Yes Citizens of Dunwoody you did good and are getting better service than you ever did when DKPD had you all.

Brookhaven readers........do it,,,,,,,,,,,,

Anonymous said...

Anon 7:09.....It must be comforting to know that the person in charge of the detectives who would of followed up on your credit card fraud retired from DeKalb and now is in charge of the Dunwoody detectives........

Anonymous said...

No matter how hard the leeches outside of Dunwoody, upset that their cash cow is gone, try to convince you Dunwoody was better off before, don't believe it. Ask a Dunwoody resident without a criminal history and you'll find things are much better now.

Anonymous said...

Does Angus still have his condo in Brookhaven. He could run for mayor against Mike Jacobs.

Anonymous said...

I don't hear any Dunwoody residents complaining, just people bitter they left.

Anonymous said...

One thing is for certain, Dekalb is broken. The promotional tests will be given again soon and I bet Dunwoody, soon to be Brookhaven PD, etc wouldn't expect someone they want in that position spending their own leave, fuel, etc chasing multiple exams only to not get reimbursed for their trouble with a pathetic 5% raise in the unlikely event promotions are even made. The liability insurance for such a position exceeds 5% in itself. It still amazes me ANYONE applies with modern Dekalb. Let's not forget the fix is in and has been with these "tests" for some time.

Anonymous said...

To 10-26-11, 7:09 PM. Dunwoody doesn't it's own Fire Department.

If DeKalb services are so bad, why has'nt Dunwoody done something about that.

Seems odd that a proposed tax increase to buy park land has taken priority over a Fire Department that is meant to promote public safety and save lives.

Anonymous said...

sooo dunwoody wants to by an apartment complex to make a park....i'm just curious....what is the income median and racial make up (yeah i went there) of those who will be booted for a park as opposed to their own fire department?????

Anonymous said...

10:04 pm, they didn't have a police department right from the start either. Start up costs for pd and fire are a lot. Most people never need fire services, but they do need police. The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Anonymous said...

For the love of God - to those who keep talking about how many DKPD officers Dunwoody had on patrol - they were also covering BUFORD HWY. Dunwoody PD STAYS in Dunwoody. So those 6 officers per shift plus a SGT and sometimes a LT - on the streets? Multiply that times about 3 because they STAY in Dunwoody. Let it go.

Anonymous said...

Smart city?

66 million for park land? WOW!

No FD but some purty nice parks.

Smart city.

As to the $66 million bond issue (more to come) the old saying applies "If you've got it, flaunt it". Sort of like buying a set of wheels on the credit card.

We (I live and pay taxes in Dunwoody) soon will be implanting RFID chips in all worthy and acceptable residents. Dunwoody police will be given wands to scan the chips. If you do not make the scan ... out you go to Buford Hwy.

Might be in the next budget.
