I had a few rough moments when i thought the feds were watching but hey, all that money ya'll made me helped pay for my great attorneys. Once again Dekalb county and the employees that work there thanks for all you efforts. But...do you really think I'm gonna come back to that dump? When will we wake up? I don't know, but for those that think purchasing your own private policy is the way to go, think again. This month's issue of Consumer Reports advises that you can save alot going privately on your monthly cost. BUT, your deductible is usually between $5,000 - $10,000. Good, if you don't get sick. Health care costs are going up for just about everybody. Since the county is self-insured, if they wanted to, they good pick Joe's Doc in the Box to be our only choice and for major medical treatment and procedures, Grady Hospital. This could be much worse than it is and I know I'll catch heck for this, but, be thankful the county still offers reasonable choices.

Has anyone heard when we will get the new changes in front of us so we can read them before open enrollment closes???????

The choices aren't final yet until the BOC approves them on the Oct 11 meeting. There is a version of the proposed plans and employee monthly rates that was distributed by Finance to the commissioners at the Oct 4 Finance FAB meeting at 3:00. The BOC, Finance, FOP or even the AJC may have a copy of these proposed rates.

The BOC & CEO want to make sure that all of you flunkies are paying the way so that the BOC & CEO and their families have very good insurance which will be because of your generosity.

You employees will have to suffer so the BOC/CEO can have all that luxury from the long, unpaid hours, no overtime, no holiday pay, more contributions to the pension and all of the good things that you use to get.

The powers who run this poorest excuse of a county, will be like the same type of government that is being portrayed in the nation's capitol (screw the honest public)
and don't be surprised if it gets much worse than what it is now.

The county has useless parasites making decisions which affect all employees and taxpayers, and that bunch in Decatur does not care !!!

Why shouldn't you have to use Grady Hospital? Are you too good to use the same facilities the citizens you SERVE use? You can't expect to live outside Dekalb then take and take from the Dekalb community without contributing. If you don't like it then move on elsewhere.

My opinion,
from what I have read, seen, observed and heard the BOC and CEO is the poster child of poor government. Manual Maloof misguidedly created the position for himself, and was the only CEO that could make the system work. CEO's Levitan, Jones and Ellis were unsuccessful in making the CEO form of government work for the citizens and employees and should of been abolished a decade ago in favor of a county manager accountable to the commissioners.
The employees are left in the middle with no representation, no raises for a decade, declining pension and insurance benefits, and declining quality of workers because the best employees expect a decent salary and benefits that DeKalb government is incapable of supplying unless you are political staff.
With the very real prospect of a vindictive Vernon Jones as the next CEO, now is the time for DeKalb legislative delegates to pass a bill to abolish the CEO's office and hire a competent county manager.
My opinionated opinion.
Best of luck guys!

I don't think Jones was our problem folks. Ellis is kinda like the president he has never done anything. He is bringing all of the misfits from Atlanta to help run this place. As long as we sit and watch its only gonna get worse.
