To the Leaders of this County it is a disgrace to every Man or Woman that served in the Military and work in Dekalb to be force to work on this day that Honors their service. Being a Vet it is hard for me to believe the citizen of this County agree with the work that is being done here. Once a proud County with the top Department in the nation. What happen?

I would like to extend my gratitude and best wishes to the current generation of troops, airmen and sailors that lay it on the line everyday.
Many cops are reservists that have served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan serving their country. One of the little talked about but very true stories of the WOT has been the effectiveness of reservist LE personnel who brought their skills and knowledge to the theater and shut down Al Quada and Sunni insurgents during the Iraq civil war. Even the US Army has acknowledged the value of the skills the LE reservists brought into combat and the role of LE professionals in defeating Al Quada in Iraq.
Most civilians have no clue as to what military is and does, that all those spiffy planes, choppers, guns, tanks and ships require a lot of time, work and dedication to make it all happen.
US military personnel are not only really good at breaking things and occupying real-estate, they are also humanitarian aid and disaster recovery experts. The US military's mastery of logistics has been a life-saver to millions of foreign citizens in dire need.
The professionalism, dedication and honor displayed by our airman, soldiers and sailors is an inspiration to all that aspire to a better future.
Well done guys and gals! We are very proud of all of you!

Yes Veterans can thank CEO Ellis for taking away our Veterans Day Holiday and making us work for free. This is what you call a CEO who makes veterans work on their GOD given right on Veterans Day.

Heres a little advice from a retired Dekalb County Police Officer AND a disabled veteran:
Go to the VA hospital and check in at the veterans resource office. They will tell you what you are eleigible for and give you a card etc. I got out of the USMC in 1984 and went 24 years and never checked in. All that time I had 100% free medical coverage and did not know it.
Personally I do not use to VA on Clairmont Rd simply because it is too crowded but if you live in or near Dekalb YOU NEED TO GO THERE AND CHECK IN!!!! If you were/are willing to be part of the military then you are saying you are willing to take a bullet to defend your country. At least let them take care of your medical issues.

Blogmaster, here is an idea for possibly an open comments forum or a food for thought forum. Challenge all who reads this blog to put forth worth while ideas, that are not dependant upon the BOC for approval and funds, to better the lives of our officers. Extend the challenge to think outside of the box. I've tried to come up with ideas, that would improve morale, that don't cost money from the budget, don't require BOC approval, and my ideas are few.

The immature egos around here are such that if THEY can't take credit for it then it is immediately dismissed. It's been tried before to no avail, trust me.
