Shane was a youngster who had a bright future and had changed his life around to become a husband, father, and a law enforcement officer which made his mother (Gayle Hanson) and step father (Jim Hanson) very proud. His step-brothers also were equally proud of him.

I knew Shane since he was a little boy and watched him grow up. To me, he was a friend of our family and being one of the Hanson's and Wilson's, made me very proud to have known him.

My deepest condolences to all of the families of Shane and now he will be in a place where no one will ever harm him again.

Rest in Peace, my Brother and my Friend.

What a tragic, heartbreaking, much-too-early conclusion to his noble life. I don't know him or his in any way, but as a citizen who places great value on those willing to protect me with their lives, I promise you, this hurts me deeply too. God bless you all.

This piece of shit perp's bond is yet ANOTHER testament to the gross incompetence of DeKalb County of which we are all too familiar. You can bet your life if a DeKalb thug is arrested he has been charged with the same thing many times prior. So sad that such an attribute to our community had to pay with his life. TNA...

How many officers have to be killed or maimed on I-20 (East Side) before some REAL enforcement takes place?

I am so saddened to hear of Shane's death. I am a Corrections Officer in Gwinnett County and I was also Shane's daycare teacher when he was just a toddler at Daybridge when I was only 18 years old. I just realized that Robert Wilson was Shane when I saw his mother on the news. I had not seen him since he was 3-4 years old. Shane made my day every single day. I could not wait to get to work to see his smiling face. He was so funny and such a good kid. The world has lost an absolute angel. I never forgot him or his sweet laugh. My heart goes out to his family. I watched his mother come pick him up every day and I had such great respect for her. She was one of the inspirational people that I wanted to be like as an adult. You never know whose life you will truly touch while you are on this earth. Shane and his mother truly touched mine. Rest in peace Shane - you made this world a better place.
