Burrell Ellis Leaving A Legacy of Corruption

On the heels of allegations of corruption and pay offs within the Water Shed Department, Ellis announces Dekalb County is in the business of creating jobs through the county's 1.35 billion dollar "stimulus package", the revamping of the county's sewer system.

Ellis promises economic prosperity and clams it will create 1300 jobs, costing the tax payers just over 1 million dollars per job. Prosperity for who? The likes of Dick Stogner?

Time and time again throughout this country, people have been convicted for corruption in almost every large sewer system revamp. The closest being the City of Atlanta.

Ellis promised the jobs will be directed to DeKalb residents and small, minority-owned contractors, so you white males need not apply.

We commend District Attorney Robert James for taking on the allegations of corruption. But he really should turn this over to the Feds because this is way over his head.

"Ellis promised the jobs will be directed to DeKalb residents and small, minority-owned contractors, so you white males need not apply."

That is correct. Also, it will cost the taxpayers 15 -20% more since real, efficient contractors will not get the jobs.

Little Vernon is still ticked because he did not make his retirement package when the
$38 million Doraville GM plant site redevelopment bond package fell through. Big Vernon made his on the land deals in the Park green space bond issue. Maybe Little V is making another try with the sewer bond issue. "Pay to Play" is alive and well in DK County

DA James is an empty suit when it comes to investigating and prosecuting the brothers and sisters.

DA Robert James needs to turn this investigation over to the FBI. He is too close to the leadership to take action. The corruption in all departments has escalated to a point where it's too much for contractors who have integrity. The "pay to play" atmosphere is way out of hand. The outside big international/white firms (like Jeff Rader's employer Jacobs) have all of the control and take our tax dollars and run. Thanks to Burrell Ellis.

He shakes down small contractors for donations, askes for way too much money and gets agitated when we cannot give him enough money. Yet his inexperienced friends come in and he gives them contracts like candy (Steen Miles, Kimberly Rooks, etc.) His campaiagn manager shakes down contractors who bid on county work. Like I told the FBI, Burrell Ellis needs to go straight to jail.

DeKalb does not have a program for "small minority contractors." As a small minority contractor in DeKalb, please do not believe the hype. We are not getting much work, if at all. A lot of us that do government work have had to shut down.

The LSBE Program is for local small business enterprises, originated by Burrell Ellis. It's for White or black, male or female businesses. It's based on revenues, not race or gender. There are two parts, LSBE-DeKalb and LSBE-MSA (metropolitan service area or outside of DeKalb) The LSBE-MSA has no benefit to DeKalb County. It's so his friends can get contracts. The most successful LSBE firms were EGM (Art Queen) and DMD (Hamid Daftarian). They got politically corrupt watershed management subcontracts and were not licensed or qualified to perform.

The county does not publish the numbers. They are embarasing for LSBE-DeKalb businesses. If anything, experienced and effiecient LSBE-DeKalb firms save the county money and invest it back in their communities.

This "stimulus package" will be another failure in the Burrell Ellis legacy. But maybe it might be the catalyst to bring him down.

And so it continues...

This Watershed corruption is minor compared to what is happening in Business Licensing by MR REID....... It is the same issue you need to pay to play. Several licenses are being issued without getting the required signatures from the BOC. You ask why? Its simple money is being put in MR REID pocket. Come on Mr. DA check this out while you are seating a grand jurry. Come on Feds its not even being covered up well.

On a positive note, I've discovered The Fountain of Youth. Your hair stops falling out and/or turning grey and your general health regresses to that of a 20 year old. All you have to do is LEAVE THAT DUMP.

Anyone note how fast this story was buried by the AJC?
The story has been deleted from the DeKalb section and for all intent and purposes suppressed from DeKalb citizens except by a direct link.
This truky sux mates!
We have corrupt leadership at the highest echolons of DeKalb government and the AJC effectively deletes the story within hours of publishing.
This reeks of corruption and conspiracy between DeKalb government leaders and the AJC.
No wonder DeKalb governemtn is going down the tubes. The two major local newspapers. The AJC and the Champion are covering for DeKalb's corrupt politicians.
(expletive deleted)
I will keep you informed of my research into this issue.
The very best of luck guys and gals!

Neither the FBI will look into this nor the Feds prosecute as long as Mr Eric Holder is the U.S. Attorney General

One last statement on this story. The story was written over a year ago and the writer no longer works for the AJC.
I was dead wrong for assuming AJC editors had removed the story. My allegations of collusion between DeKalb politicians is false and I regret my accusation.
The fact remains that the AJC is remiss for refusing to cover vital stories concerning the citizens.
My mistake, and I intend to make it up to y'all in the future.
Best wishes!
