And You Wonder Why We Don't Post Our Butt Naked Picture On "The Blog"

Stupidity runs rampant. Investigators are spending more and more of their time dealing with officers who post inappropriate statements or racy photographs, said Ken Vance, executive director of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council. What started a few years ago as a handful of violations has increased to roughly 50 to 60 such cases per year.

About three-quarters result in revocation of the officers’ certification, which prevents them from working in law enforcement in Georgia, Vance said.

Just give me a Take Home Car and let me save 15 thousand dollars a year.

Look at the Command Staff who have a car and lived 40 miles out of the county. They have a car to drive back and forth to work. They also work their extra jobs on county tax payer dime for gas and car. This should be a privilege for the officers who are at base pay and not the ones making the big bucks.

Just something to think about for the destruction of this county wasteful spending.

The POST council couldn't investigate its way out of a wet paper sack and their record keeping resembles the Dekalb Recorders Court.

How bout they start the take home car program with officers with time in? For instance.... 5 year MPOs or hell start it out with 10 year MPOs? Im sure if you start out with 10 year MPOs you will only have to give out ten or so uniform cars per precinct, hell there are more than that parked at the old 34 pumps.... brand spankin new. Come on CHIEF O!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to keep your vets around take care of them!!! Plus if you start out with 10 year vets Ill get one in a year or so.. Lol.

Take home patrol cars....bahhhh....ha, ha, ha. That rumor was last floated when the second helicopter crashed. While we had just a single bird, the county didn't have money to pay for the fuel needed to fly it... they grounded the remaining helicopter and made noise about using the insurance money to buy take homes for sergeants and MPO's.... "it was a done deal" and the Chief would be announcing it shortly...

Flash forward ...officers and sergeants are leaving in groups.... we still hot seat cars, and there is a second helicopter on old 34.

First: what in the hell does this topic have to do with take home cars? Nothing like beating a dead horse!

Second: Those cars you see at old 34 do not belong to the police department. FYI...Those cars belong to Motor Maintenance and will be given out to the PD when they say, the chief has nothing to do with it.

You know it used to be that what folks did in their off time or with thier own equipment was thier own business. Now everybody wants to be in evrybodys business and tell them how to live and tell them what is inapropriate or not. As long as a cop wasnt breaking the law or grossly violating rule or regulation, then the department and POST had bigger fish to fry. Frankly, i dont give a damn about some cop sending lewd pictures of themselves or somebody else. Thats thier business. As for me, im not into porn or anything like that and I never have been. But it seems that society today, and most of the cops, have become a bunch of wussies! Yall really need to get your priorities figured out.

Iran is not going to stop their nuclear program and Israel will surely bomb the hell out of them. The price of oil will skyrocket and then all of us without a take home car will wish we had one. We won't be able to get to work, because our salaries have been gutted and we won't be able to afford the cost of gas. At this point, either those with take home cars can carpool us in, or they can start working the streets and we'll get "snow days credit".

I have a huge problem with taking lewd pictures and floating them around the web. You obviously have no respect for the badge. When I took my oath it meant something. It meant that I am supposed to be BETTER than the average citizen. I need to look better, act better, BE better! And that's how I live my life now. For over 15 years, I have been better than those around me. And I sleep good at night!! I'm tired of idiot officers trashing the badge. BE BETTER!

From 11:57AM...

If you have only been there 15 years you are still a rookie to me. Dont hand me that crap about being better than me or holding yourself to a higher standard. I was shot and almost killed overseas when I was in the military when you were most likely not even born yet. I left that war and came home to a war in DeKalb and damn near died several times on the streets trying to do my job and help folks who needed it, including young guys like you. I would not trade my life for anyone elses, even though it has been very hard on my family and I. I have done things and been places you only see in movies, read about, or hear old cops and vets talk about when they talk about the "good old days". I am here to tell you the "good old days" were awful and very dangerous most of the time. We had none of the technology you new guys have and normally produced more arrests and citations. We didnt have time for BS like sending lewd pictures via cell phones and over the internet...we didnt have it. We operated with revolvers and a radio in the patrol car, by ourselves and backup was always a long way away. DKPD was a lot more military back then than paramilitary. Look at at the old DKPD pictures from the '60's, 70's and 80's and you will see us looking back at you. Its not that I think its ok to do that crap, its just that you need to get your priorities straight.
And get over the whole take home car deal as well. We used to have to car pool to work sometimes because we couldnt even afford a damn car! Live within your means or find another job that pays more.

It don't make a "hill of beans" to me what an Officer does, as long as they back when needed and respond to their calls.

you aint getting your take home cars, pictures why will follow soon!

News Flash!!!!

Those cars at motor maint. are to replace the ones that have been crashed or "downed" for the past two years. Due to budget problems we did not get any replacements for those cars last year. So "meat-head", what you see is to replace the one uniform continues to crash & destroy whats in the fleet. Do your home work before you start bumping your gums.

Like I've said in the past...they drive them like they stole them...the repair bills and what is actually happening to these vehicles goes up to Lavista road., on a nice monthly report...so just when you think no-one is looking....they don't have to....all they do is pull out the monthly's and say..."good luck" with that one.

Then you'll say...if he screws it up..take it out of his pay!!!....okay..but what if he/she turns right around and quits???...take a warrant out them???...for what??...in the most crime ridden county in the state....let me know how that works for you.....until then....pass me another beer of shut the hell up and do your job.
If you don't like it...find another job!!....

If you ever start taking care of the equipment....maybe....just maybe....someome might start to listen......until then....hold your breath on take homes!!!

Time to call attorney Lee Parks regarding cheating on last 2 promotional tests. He just won same allegations for Atlanta Fire.

@1024 am

Did you by chance walk to school in the snow and ice up hill for three miles too?? Clearly you didn't read...I said over 15 years...I'm not impressed by your "history" because you dont know mine...oh, and I'm not complaining about take home cars...I already have one ;)...oh yeah one more thing...I'm debt free!! Life is grand.

Be better people!

It amazes me how this blog shows that cops don't support each other. It's pathetic. Posting that if you only have 15 years, you don't know what it's like to be a "real" cop. Get over yourself. Every cop in Dekalb knows how dangerous it is. You don't have to be there 20 or 30 years to know danger. I've been on the receiving end of phone calls that my husband was shot at again and again. Danger is present every day, but if you can't support each other get another damn job because you're not the one I want backing my husband or friends.

Guessing Stathis is bored since being removed and is posting about 1970s policing again.

To 19:50 PM..

1) I also own my home and land and it is PAID FOR and I did it on a DeKalb cops salary!

2) All 3 of my vehicles, including my boat, are PAID FOR a well.

3) Your history doesn't concern me and neither does your take home car. I always prefered my own to one of thiers. If you have been there over 15 years I have nothing but RESPECT for you. Dont take this statement any other way.

4) I dont need another job since I dont have to work any more. I did my time and my money magically appears in my checking account evey month.

5) Until some of you here are willing to learn from the past instead of complaining about the present, then it will NEVER get better for you.

6) I am certainly NOT Stathis!

7)
