DeKalbs Finest No Longer, We Hang Our Heads In Shame

Once upon a time in our police department's history, we were known as "DeKalb's Finest" and held our heads high.

Because hiring standards have been lowered to the same level as a day laborer, the results are we find it hard to hold our heads high. In the past, our news coverage was the result of outstanding police work, capturing the predators of our citizens.
It now seems we have become the predators.

Now when our department makes the news, more often then not, it involves corrupt police chiefs, supervisors involved in sex scandals, officers raping females on duty, officer beating handcuffed suspects, officers stealing from victims and obstruction of justice. And this is just the ones exposed. What of the numerous terminations in just the past 2 years?

The people to fault are the elected politicians in Decatur who have cut out benefits and demanded our hiring standards lowered, least a competent police force uncover and reveal the corruption in Decatur. The others to fault our the ones in our command staff sitting bad examples by manipulating the system, disguising county owned cars on the books so they can pass them out to their aides and cronies.
Even allegations of some command staff working extra jobs while on duty, or taking days off without documenting it.

Where there's smoke, there's fire.

What have we become?

This is the 4th incident of conduct unbecoming at the very least in the last 2 years that I am aware of that have something to do with this fool. How long will D.A. stay in his corner? Stay Tuned

Holmes has been protecting him for years. He shouldn't be a cop much less a supervisor. He's openly racist if you've ever attempted a conversation with him.

He is a piece of shit and always has been. Not to mention he's very very very stupid. Not even sure how he made SGT, unless it was because of affirmative action.... He should have been fired a few years ago when he stole from the Apt Complex. Billing them for hours and hours he never worked..... I am glad I left…

What did you expect for a department that required a two ticket a day quota? A department that was more concerned about how many tickets did you write than arrests you actually made. A department that considered certain beats a punishment assignment. Many say we are going the way of Fulton County PD but I never remember hearing about Fulton officers involved with all the stuff our officers are involved. The major complaints spoken about FCPD were constant staffing shortages, limited operating budgets and resources.

Since his bid for president has fallen apart, anyone else think we should support Herman Cain for DeKalb CEO. He may like hit white women but he'd do a hell of a lot better than our current administration.

Just how many people do we have working in DKPD that have a documented history of committing a crime?

Lt. Occutard got caught stealing at a part time, Sgt. Adkinson got caught stealing from his apartment complex. What did Sgt. Pierre get fired for, then rehired? Who else?

DANG SARGE, I HOPE THAT ITS NOT TRUE WHAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT YOU BUT WHAT HAPPENS IN THE DARK ALWAYS COMES TO THE LIGHT.

Seems like D.K.P.D. and Washington have a lot in common as far as corruption and bad press. Anyone bold enough to say what the common denominator between the two might be???

Anonymous said...

Another one that has been protected, just like Rorey, when will it all end? Another instance of birds of a feather. You'd think that the person that has provided all the protection to him and others all these years, would want to distance himself from these types of incidents and officers. Guess not. I wonder if there's smoke, is there fire?
While we're at it, no way this guy legitimately passed the sergeants test, without any help. No way!

The job of the defense attorneys for people arrested by DKPD is getting easier and easier. Could you imagine attorneys now cashing in on officer credibility? This why so many people walk in Atlanta, you got APD officers who are under investigation both internally and criminally out there enforcing laws. I have seen case after case get thrown out as the officer has credibility issues.

The promotional testing here is subjective....SUBJECTIVE I say....u don't fail....u just need a good coach...Isn't that right Chief OB and to all the other coaches standing on the sidelines patting their boys on the back...It's a Ponzi scheme

I just dont get it? He ALMOST gets demoted/fired twice, you would think he learned?? My guess is three strikes your out. I heard Pine Lake and City of Lithonia are hiring Eric!!

And he's not a Bolton hire , put that in your pipe and smoke it

All most of us can do is "keep our heads down, punch the clock, answer the calls, punch the clock and do it again tomorrow". Unfortunately, these type of things are above our pay grade.

Working at DKPD has become nothing more than a J O B.

Adkinson, if you ask nicely, maybe Lt. Occutard will let you borrow his race card!

I've been in the private sector since I left in 01. Before I give any safety seminars, attendees read my bio. When they see Dekalb County Police, I get these strange stares.
Before, all these unfortunate acts started happening, I was proud to say I worked for Dekalb PD. Now, I have to provide the dates when I was there just so I wouldn't have to entertain questions regarding what's in the media.

To all you true Dekalb Police, keep on pushing as best you can.

Yes listing DKPD on a resume is a detriment and not an asset to legitimate employers. Give your notice, get your money out, pay off debt and move on to a ship that isn't almost completely submerged while you can.

Maybe time for an entire shakeup. It gets old watching these idiots screw up and giving us all a bad rep. From working at the CDC while on duty to turning a blind eye to the crimes taking place inside the club that you are getting paid to stand in front of. Its all the same and it is time to end. Clean house and take out the trash Chief. It may be too late but action has to be taken to get rid of the thugs and perps. that are hiding behind the badge and especially rank.

It's so easy to come on here and call out names as if any of you know the details of what transpired in each situation. You people come here and rehash the same BS over and over and over again. You apparently don't have much going on in your personal lives do you come here to this god awful blog and slander names and reputations. We ALL have our own skeletons so remember that before you come here throwing stones. Lt. Rorey, Sgt Pierre, & Sgt Adkinson' are all people weather you agree, disagree, or are indifferent to their individual situations. To the poster who advise Adkinson was racist; not the case he will write you up, dime you out & go to bat for you regardless of your color. YES, if the allegations are true, sure he should be disciplined. I just don't understand why we KEEP bringing up old news. Let it go!! Are you people jealous of them?! Sounds like it. I'm guilty for reading this crap, but please understand that there are more people doing dumb stuff out here that you people never bring up. When will we start moving forward, quit looking behind you to resurrect OLD news. We heard you the first 1,000 times.

How is this guy still employed? Selling alcohol without a permit? Don't people go to jail for that? Shouldn't a Sgt know better? Why do we have Sgt's like him who don't know GA law?

Fraudulent billing of his apartment complex? Isn't that theft?

How is this guy still employed? How many laws does he have to break before he gets fired or even demoted?

Sick & Tired 9:00pm, it's people with low standards and expectations like you that have ruined this county! You are just blindly running to their defense. Why don't you tell us all everything they have done and why those things are not a big deal? Stealing isn't a big deal?

Anonymous said...

Ok, so I spelled it wrong, thanks for the correction. I think you got the point. My apologies for not proof reading it before the nay-Sayers could rip it to shreds. We can ALWAYS find fault in everything [as I will NOT proofread this post either]. As for me thinking that stealing was ok, never said that. Ever think that there was a reason you don't know all the details, probably because it's none of your business. It's not yours or mines. This blog is full if cowards and yellow bellies who can't face individuals man to man.

The thing that kills me about this blog is that everyone can come on here and write their opinions anonymously. The question is how many of you cowards have the courage to say your opinions to any of the officers face, or at the very least put your name at the end of your comment. How about you first reach out to one of your fellow officers to see if the allegations are true first? What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty, or does that not apply to DeKalb County Officers?

By reading the comments on this blog one could only assume that every officer on this blog is a super cop that never makes any mistakes. So none of you have every showed up to a part time late or left early. No one has ever tried to talk a citizen out of a 41 report. No one has ever changed an 87 to a 65 to keep from writing a report because they didn’t see any signs of injury. I seriously doubt it. I see so many officers milking calls to keep from having to handle a priority 3 report, but yet you sit back and judge. What makes you any better, you should be charged with stealing money from the county because most of you don’t work your entire shift.

It seems like all you guys do is sit around and complain about everything that is going on in the department and about every officer that gets an allegation brought up against him. If you were to spend half as much time working as you did complaining, the crime rate would be lowered in DeKalb County. I am willing to bet my paycheck that 90 percent of the officers that right all of these negative posts on this blog are nothing but slugs, but yet you talk like a big shot. You use every excuse you can think off to find a reason to not do work. You use a ticket strike as an excuse to spend your shift doing nothing.

DeKalb County is full of perps that we as officers should focus our attention on and not our fellow officers when they make a mistake. To all of you officers on this blog take a second and think, how many quality arrests did you make last month, and that doesn’t include suspended license. How many cases have you generated? How many free cups of coffee and soda did you drink from QT? Most of you officers that are complaining are worthless, and don’t know how to police regardless of how many years you have been here. This is probably why you have been on the road for 10-15 years and are still just an MPO.

If I have offending any officers reading this than good, and if anyone has something to say about this post than feel free to say it to me in person. I’m Center Precinct Morning watch; I’m there Sun – Wed.

To "Still Sick and Tired", yes it is our business, which is why all of this information is readily available to anyone who makes an open records request. Since you didn't know that, maybe you're not as smart as you think you are, so maybe you should just shut up before you make yourself sound even more ignorant.

Changing a non-violent, non-threatening 87 into 65 isn't neglect if duty or breaking a law. But here are some things that are: stealing from your employer, kicking in your J2's front door, & shoplifting in uniform.

Anonymous said...

"Yours or mines."

Thanks for confirming your inferior intellect. "Mines" means someone is trying to harvest something from underground. It is not the correct way for you to indicate you own or possess something. Like the previous poster said, standards are pretty low around here lately.

Anonymous said...

Dear Sick & Tired maybe you should resign along with the good Sgt. If you think someone can have a file as thick as his, and be an up standing example of a cop. You need to open your eyes, and never never respond to a call where I am a victim. You wouldn't see a crime if it hit ya between the eyes. Obviously your blind if ya can't see problems with men or women of his caliber wearing the same uniform that I wear.

Center Precinct Morning Watch.... you complained about anonymous posts, call posters cowards.... and forgot to sign your Name and Badge number. Don't tell me you share the concern officers have about the repercussions associated with speaking up.... Come on, even the chief has or had meetings where you could speak freely...

From YOUR POST: " The thing that kills me about this blog is that everyone can come on here and write their opinions anonymously. The question is how many of you cowards have the courage to say your opinions to any of the officers face, or at the very least put your name at the end of your comment."

Just pointing out the obvious.... I'm sure the major at Center would be open to your opinions and concerns.

Please officers do not degrade each other here. All Officers put their life on the line each and everyday for us citizens to have a safe environment. And as for the Officers that get caught, it is for a reason that they will get busted. We are adults and know what is from right to doing things wrong. But remember, you guys suppose to help each other, not call officers stupid or lazy. Trust me, the way this world is today.....no one can hide in the dark and get away with it. Lets stay motivated and positive and help each other! It looks really bad for people myself who has applied to Dekalb police and see own officers full of disrespect! Now this behavior hurts me to the fullest! Do not do this!
Do not hold your head in SHAME, be honored to wear the BADGE people.

Steak Sauce,

LOL! Tell 'em again. Maybe if they were smart enough their stupid a** could get promoted. Sick of hearing the test is rigged, you can have all the answers and still not perform well. Funny that the same folks who down your name will be the same humble bastards that have to give you their part times request, vacation requests, and SIR you all at your will. :) Best revenge around this place is education!!! Keep getting promoted up the chain & never forget not to trust the maggot MPO's(who disgrace your name) that have to clear going to supply before they dare leave their territories. I love when people not in the "in" crowd gets a gold shield. Remember unintelligent 15-20 year MPO's that have failed the same test multiple times GOLD trumps SILVER all day everyday.

Uhuuuuuuuurd HIM?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't make me smarter than everyone, but it does make me smarter than you!!!

Anonymous said...

You know who is not on here showing their insecurity over how they got promoted? The people who did well on their own. The people who everyone knows did well on their own. The people who everyone respects for their knowledge and leadership abilities. It's funny how I never hear those people at work complaining about people thinking they got help on the tests. They know they did well on their own and people respect them. The only people I ever hear complaining about other people thinking they were given the answers are the dumbasses that everyone knows were given the answers. They obviously know everyone thinks they're dumbasses, or they wouldn't be so defensive and insecure. Have any of you insecure whiners ever asked yourselves why people think you got help and others did on their own? Steak Sauce, have you ever asked yourself why the brass hates you?

Anonymous said...

@ Steak Sauce
"If the test is designed for a stupid ass than why can't your stupid ass get promoted, stupid ass. Why am I checking your stupid ass j2 or making sure your 20 or 30 year plus experienced MPO is not dodging calls stupid ass. "

Calling your fellow officers "stupid ass" repeatedly?? Very classy. You have a lot to learn about respect. You must be a young (new) sergeant.

You are checking 20/30 year MPO J2 because of one reason...two words..they both begin with the letter "A"....Are you smart enough to figure that out? The testing procedure in DeKalb has always been a joke.

Some of us...20 + years I might add...have never had a desire to take the test. I love what I do and have no desire to get promoted. And I still enjoy working for this department in spite of how far it has fallen. Your gold badge does not trump my experience and the fact that you feel it does shows how much of a power trip you're on.

Today, March 13th 2012 at the Regular Meeting of the DeKalb County Board of Crooks I made the following request to your Fav and mine Commissioner Larry Johnson.

Under the Federal Freedom of Information Act plese tell myself and other Tax paying Citizens of DeKalb the total amount of funds that DeKalb County Government spent on Not Paying the Family of Derwin Brown the $ 50,000.00 Life Insurance Policy that was in limbo when Our Good Sheriff Elect was slain by cowardly assassins.

The meeting should be broadcast tonight at 7 PM if Lit'l Burrell dint push it aside so he can show his sorry behind more.

Many people at the meeting today are starting to realize that the Seven Pieces of crap that call themselves commissioners care very little for the Seniors in this County and the Dismal report on the Dog Pound ( becaus it sure ain't a shelter ) brought out about 35- 40 animal rights people who are now additionally aware of other wrong doing in this county.

And I know that there are MANY Good Officers in DeKalb County, Working Very Hard every day putting their Lives on the line every day for the Citizens of DeKalb that they protect and serve.

Semper Fi from this ole Marine to all that Protect and Serve !

Protect yourselves at all times on the mean streets of DeKalb !

I am a dog lover..however, citizens should really pick their battles..are you more concerned with Animal Control or should you be more concerned that when you call 911 an operator will answer the phone and you don't get a recording??? And when the operator dispatches the call, a police unit or fire truck or ambulance is able to respond??? Yes Animal Control is deplorable, but we have bigger fish to fry folks...I'm just saying!!

Anonymous said...

8:56 PM Next time you speak, you might want to consider more carefully. If people didn't speak up about Animal Control, they would continue to be TORTURED. Yes - TORTURED. What else do you call conditions that are so bad? Would you like to eat and drink out of bowls that are contaminated with feces and urine? Left to die because of lack of medical care? If you were fully informed about the conditions, you - as a dog lover - wouldn't have said what you said. Really. What does it say about our society when we treat animals like this? Yes, people are struggling and doing without. Wow. Just sayin...

Animal Rights Activist can put 100 or more people in the Fulton Commisssion Chambers on using bull hooks with elephants.

Same thing with City of Atlanta Chambers on Leash Law.

At The DeKalb BOC meeting on Tuesday March 13th there were at least 35-40 Animal Rights Activist with the recent reports of the horrible conditions at the DeKalb Dog Pound !

Well Guess What ??? These people Wake Up = Stand Up = Speak Up for their cause.

At the BOC meeting there were Four Officers there to keep and eye on me and the other elderly speakers at the BOC meeting and let me think, how many Police Officers were there to show their concerns over working conditions ? ZERO

And you do not have one friend on the BOC or in the CEO's Office and anybody that thinks so is in another world !

Response to “A real Officer” March 8th @0959. You are obviously new here and probably very young too. I remember those days. You haven't learned yet, where there is smoke, there is usually fire. You don't know from experience yet that when someone is constantly “in trouble” there is probably a good reason for it. You have not been around long enough to see some can get away with anything, others get paper put on them for the most trivial B.S. But don't worry my son, if you last long enough, you will learn all these things and more. Good luck, you are going to need it.

I would also point out, for all your preaching about anonymous postings, you too posted anonymous.

Good Lord.

JerryMyer Jackson Jr. These people who “show up” at these meetings are political hacks. Paid and unpaid “useful idiots”. Coordinated by “community organizers” who only care about political power. They could not care less what the “cause” is. All they care about is POWER! The will use any means available to achieve POWER! Truth and reality be damned. I doubt you are an Officer. If you were you would know Police Officers who make Political statements in the open have short carers. We don't take this job to make Political statements. We pledge our very lives to protect the weak and the innocent. We run towards the gun fire. We do it because we believe in our very soul it is the right thing to do. If we must pay with our lives, so be it.

Yes, a few, a very small few tarnish the badge. The rest of us have more disgust and contempt for them than you will ever know. Every one of them smears a stench on the rest of us. One bad cop and the public hates us all.

You want to make a real difference? You won't do it by attending meetings and protesting. It is very simple. Hold your elected officials to the same standards you hold the Police. When you catch one lying, stealing, and using his position for personal gain, boot his a$$ out of office forever! A Police Officer makes the smallest mistake or error and the Public screams for his head. Yet the public tolerates B. S. from its politicians that would make Caligula blush. And don't give me that “all politicians do it” crap. That attitude is WHY so many politicians are corrupt.

I will take my "A" Game to the next BOC Meeting Tuesday Morning. I am fed up with this Board of Crooks eating free food off my back. I plan on making this very clear to them, all of them.

From Jeff Rader on the left to Kathie Gannon on the right, I will call each one of them down on this and demand that the money be repaid.

I am not,nor will I ever be afraid of these poor excuses for human beings. Plan on giving Rep Fran Millar an ear full also.

Look Forward to seeing you there Mr Callahan.
