It's time for Wiz Miller to step down. He completely mishandled the situation of the civilian secretary who probably had a large amount of marijuana in her car while it was parked at police headquarters.
At a minimum, Wiz has made himself and Deputy Chief Dale Holmes look like fools, if not co-conspirators in obstruction of justice. Any rookie police officer would know that if a K9 hits on a car for narcotics, then there's probably narcotics in that vehicle. When you have officers on the scene who can smell the odor, the same officers who are qualified to testify in a court of law, then there is probably narcotics in that car. It all comes down to probable cause. Enough to get a search warrant.
When Wiz Miller stepped in and stopped the search and stopped the investigation, he obstructed justice. When he stepped in to protect the secretary of a deputy chief of police, he obstructed justice. Enough to be prosecuted.
Miller did all this in front of officers who have morals, who are law abiding and who take their oath to heart. If he thought they would keep quiet, then that makes him stupid.
The way Chief Bill O'Brien handles this will be his lasting legacy. There is a strong possibility that Wiz Miller and Dale Holmes have violated the law. Will he insist on a complete, honest and thorough investigation by I.A.? Will he call in an outside agency who can't be influenced by Wiz, Holmes or Burrell Ellis? Will he honor his oath of office, or simply hope this just goes away?
This is corruption at it's pinnacle.
Wiz Miller nor Dale Holmes can no longer lead this department. They have tarnished themselves and our police department and every officer who wears the badge.
This is truly sickening.
