DeKalb Sheriff hires officers fired by the Chief of Police -just like Clayton County. They hired ex- DeKalb then fired by Marta Police.
He is best friend of the sheriff.

Then the fired Narcotics Sergeant.
How many more is unknown.

Why is the IA unit larger?

Anonymous said...

So!!

Keep these idiots away from our pension. Pension board representative, please answer som of the questions posted on this blog. How about the $$$ loaned to the county for the early retirement, is it being paid back, what rate of return? What about the rate of return on the and the fees paid to our many7 investment advisors?

Too old to quit said...

And those are the ones we fired....look how many they kept that now wear gold patches on their shirts. Some were even brought back after they were terminated!

Then, these re-treads continue violating policy untouched while the command staff goes after good officers / supervisors. No wonder people are going to other departments or back to the private sector.

Going to work work each day is no longer something I look forward to doing.

Wish like hell people riding desks jobs would stop trying to run the road. Let your Sgt's do their job. We do things a certain way because IT WORKS. If we not violating policy or breaking laws let it flow...Soon as you start changing things everything goes to hell in a basket...

Don't know wiz personally but after watching two interviews in ch.2 he comes across as a dumbass.

You ever notice on a "hot" situation on how many folks have to prove on why they have rank???....everyone is micr-managing to the point that there are so many people with rank telling you what to do.....you do not know what to do.....I was out on one of the last situations and I had 3 LT.'s telling me what to do.....I finalyy said to hell with it and went 10-8.....when asked later why I left my post....I replied that know one there knew what the hell they were doing to the point that 3 Lt.s could not get together and come to 1 single decision on where I was supposed to be or what area to control...for when I did what one said...the other was chewing me out for being in that area...and when I moved again...the 3rd was yelling at me on why I was there in that position...

We are way too top heavy....and this is one serious problem that is going to kill our pension....payimg sll these retirement salaries on these folks that can not pour piss out of a boot........next time you're on a hot call.....take a moment and listen to the radio traffic....you'll understand what I'm saying.

Soon we will have a Capt. or Asst. Chief along w/2 Sgt's. for every 6 grunts.....and one more thing.....good luck for those taking the Sgt.'s exam coming up!!!...remember...it's who you know and a few other things I can not put on here.

2:54 - Yes, it is being paid back with a higher yield than you would get from most other investments. Don't remember the exact percentage at the moment though.

Anonymous said...

Anon 2:54, My understanding is the loan is being paid back on time on a 20 year schedule. If you have further questions Robbie Robertson is the retiree rep and available at 404-314-4574 and is always responsive and willing to discuss the issues.
OT, I see Vernon Jones is pitching a fit about testifying to a DeKalb Grand Jury.
Hargh! If Vernon's that scared about testifying under oath about Watershed managements purchasing and contracting procedures, after he left, then you have to wonder what is Vernon's real motivation for avoiding grand jury testimony?
My guess is that good ole' Vern is worried that the grand jury will ask Vern some very embarrassing questions regarding his reorganization of the purchasing department and the ouster of 75 percent of the employees in favor of City of Atlanta refugees, or the intimidation and resignation of the competent Water&Sewer director upon Vern's ascension to the throne.
Jones has a lot to explain, and from his indignation Vern's scared witless of what they are going to ask him under oath.
Tough shit Mr. Jones, you rode me and my fellow employees like a rented mule. Payback is a bitch!
Best of luck mates!

The IA unit is larger because the people who felt a Chief's secretary shouldn't be investigated for her car smelling like weed want to look like they're doing something proactive about all of the cops that have been arrested or fired recently. They'll probably have those new IA people looking even harder at the officers who smelled weed and did their job by reporting it. See what doing your job around this place gets you?

Speaking of Chief Holmes, if you think Wiz sounds like a dumbass, you should hear Holmes mumble.

Funny you mention the "hot" scene... when the lieutenant(s) arrives at our scenes, they're more of a hindrance and a problem. What's happening? What's going on? Tell me this..tell me that....all so he can run to the media and give an account that has nothing to do with reality.

I really want to respond by telling them to get the F out the way... here's the basic scenario...I'll give you more when I know more... Right now, I'm managing a fluid situation and directing my troops...you're not helping the investigation.

They are a pain in the ass and just get in the way... if you want to show the captains and majors you're doing something, get off your asses and do something besides showing up after the fact and Monday morning quarterbacking.

Is it true there is a massive supervisor shake up at South Precinct? They will not discipline anyone above the rank of Sgt., so expect the stupidity to continue.

Anonymous said...

To Anon: 10:50

I CONCUR 110%...shut the hell up and listen to the radio on the exact same info that is being dispatched...(not always the best info..but they are just passing on what they have).

Allow the Sgt's to do the job and keep your dumb-a** back at the office or where ever else you out playing around!!!

Was at HQ today. Two news choppers and a few police cars. Turns out there was a DEA drug bust of a pill mill directly behind HQ off old cooledge. Might as well run it out of Wiz's office. He is never there anyway.

Wiz Miller and Burell Ellis are
Law School graduates. They are a disgrace to other Lawyers. A fine
example of a bonifide Lawyer is
Michelle Battle. She graduated from
Harvard, those two did not.
Ms. Battle would have made an excellent CEO.And, it probably time
for another female CEO.

South....we can only hope there is a shake up. Ideally, every white shirt needs to sent to other precincts, forced into retirement or sent to animal control.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of white shirts coming out on a scene and screwing things up; What is wrong with the Major from Tucker? The incident last week on Memorial Dr when he came up in his car, slamming doors and screaming at another Major (CID ?) was just scary. A few officers from Center Precinct were just trying to assist and he goes ballistic and says he doesn’t’ need help from Center or the SOD officers who were there. I’ve always heard that guy was crazy as hell.

http://www.11alive.com/news/article/244834/3/Brookhaven-homeowners-stunned-appraisals-jump-4-years----in-1-year

As if Brookhaven residents needed another reason to incorporate.

And that mess with the school board budget. The extra $12 million shortfall was due to a readjusted expected decrease in the property tax digest. First it was only a 6 percent drop. Now, it's an estimated 9 percent drop (due to the fact that DeKalb was caught trying to pass off inflated values on thousands of north DeKalb homeowners). The real drop will probably be even more once all the appeals are through (sometime next year).

Lots more budget cuts ahead folks.

Well Cpt Williams (East) is hanging it up

Who's next on the Captain's list?

what difference does it make who is next on the list?,,,,Is it going to make a difference or is this a way of you being un informed.

I just want to say I am participating in your citizens academy and I think it is a awesome class. I appreciate all you all do

Can we get ticket printer paper by the case? I sure don't wanna lose these perks! Figured it up the other day and I think I have generated about $200,000 in ticket revenue. So quit complaining the taxpayers are getting a great return on their gas money.

APD to increase ranks to 2000.... what are we DOWN to now?

Anonymous said...

2003 population 600,000
sworn police 780

2012 population 725,000
sworn police 480

number of police officers hired since 2003 = 700 do the math

Anonymous said...

I assume managerial staff here attended some sort of crisis management training. NOW would be a good time to step up and make use of it within your own ranks.

Uniform Officer said...

Wow....I don't know where those numbers came from but, think of how many tax dollars were spent training those officers who left and the experience that walked out the door.

Sure makes the lost money from Recorders Court look like chump change.

The money is gone and you can never recapture what the loss of experience has cost the county.

Anonymous said...

How is that possible to have such a low number of officers? How many officers do the cities ( dunwoody lithonia etc)have?

Anonymous said...

I'm so glad to see Lt. C. Williams headed to the Narcotics Division. He will do well and prosper there.

It is sad to say that after reading the blog after after being away for some time that I am actually embarrassed to be from DeKalb County...Not only did I live there a good portion of my life but devoted 30 years of service to the P.D. .....After reviewing once again the leadership, precinct commander on down, I can only shake my head.. this is the last comment I will ever make and last time I will visit page...It is too DEPRESSING.....from a retired Lieutenant who actually earned his rank..

I'm clear we paying 3 officers salaries who hanging in supply passing out BDU's and belts while we short manpower on the streets

Anonymous said...

No one is listening to you all.
They just don't know what is important. The commissioners are
busy passing ordianances to stop
poor children and parents from trying to collect money for sports
activities. If they ignore the policemans plea for better wages and childrens plea for funds to play sort of shows you what they are all about.Fundraisers for dogs,no fundraisers for kids.
So sad but true.BOC midgets and
morons. Not a 6ft man among them.

Police and Children don't count.
VOTE THEM ALL OUT>

Anonymous said...

Really 11:43? You have a problem with a sponsored event at a specific venue? Quite a bit different that strangers walking up to cars that have no choice but to sit there until the light changes. If these "poor children and parents" need money for sports activities, let them host a sponsored event at a specific venue. But leave me the hell alone when I am sitting alone in my car with no where to go.

Life Lessons Learned in Dekalb (and elsewhere...)

We need to raise money for our team....Do we get out and EARN IT or look for a handout?

What are the kids learning? How to get a handout vs. how to put on their boots and earn something?

If they learn to plan, run and hold a fund raising event, they learn how to stand on their own and EARN IT.

The parents should be helping then organize a car wash or something that will teach them how to EARN something vs. expecting a handout from the public or the government.

I'd much rather see them washing cars than dodging cars in traffic while soliciting HANDOUTS.

Cite the parents for Creating a Hazardous Condition and send them on their way.

Standby folks as this (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/47975654#.T-tiSI7fhdw) is coming to Dekalb in VERY short order.

Anonymous said...

Where is the new Internal Affairs Unit? Haven't seen any new shit show up on the news. I heard its coming though East Precinct is about to be on stage

Anonymous said...

EAST???? Are they gonna bump South evening out of the limelight?

Do tell!

Anonymous said...

In ref to 3:44 comment you are unfortunately correct. Any officer interested in retiring should immediately be applying elsewhere, ANY WHERE ELSE in fact.

You saw it here first!....

Now that Obamacare is legal as a TAX,yes a TAX... Dekalb County will surely move to push you into the government option by dropping healthcare benefits as part of your compensation..... undoubtedly, they will NOT be increasing your pay to compensate you from what will no longer be part of your employment package.

Anonymous said...

There is no government option, stupid.

YEP, the days of achieving security in life from hard work are gone forever my friends. The America our forefathers fought and died to procure for us all is no longer. This IS the beginning of the end...

Anonymous said...

Cant wait to see peoples faces next year when the dwindling check we receive gets even smaller with a new tax deduction from this healthcare crap. And lets not forget that the evil Bush tax cuts are due to expire again, which incidentally everyone working here benefits from anywhere from $500-$1000 per year. If those expire as well, I wonder how the Obama faithful will react when I say "told you so".

Well, I hear north is about to test out 12 hour shifts. The way it was explained to me is, if you work say a club every fri night you now will only be able to work it every other fri. So with that being said im sure some of us hurting for $ will be more than happy to pick up that extra slack for our north brothers and sisters in blue. Sorry guys.
