Don't Rush To Judgement

We know Captain Kaulbach and her character. We find these charges hard to believe, and hard to believe she would knowingly be involved in any type of theft.

The department should give her the benefit of doubt until this thing plays out in the courts. Should she be terminated immediately? No. Maybe placed on unpaid leave.

Others have been placed on a desk job; some placed on leave with pay pending the out come of an investigation. We hope Chief O’Brien and Wiz Miller with do the same for Captain Kaulbach.

I'm sorry but as soon as A.R. Robinson was indicted he was out the door. I like Captain Kaulbach as much as anyone but to treat her any differently would be wrong.

I SINCERELY love and RESPECT each and every one of you more than you'll ever know!! I can relate to your departmental issues as well.

Former Dekalb P.D., academy class "THREE-NINE" - Instructors - Fred Becker and Walt Morris... Brass - Lt. Bobby Ethridge and Sgt. Derwin Brown, (WHAT A CREW... I'm STILL carrying that ass-whipping)

I need to contact Officer John Fox - A.K.A. "Blue-Steel". (The guy that held a school bus full of kids hostage for over two hours in Dunwoody until they gave up who threw a penny and cracked a U.S. Mail truck's windshield).

FOX, get in touch!

I support her 100 percent. She is great friend and great officer.

I worked for the captain when she was a lieutenant. She was one of the best lieutenants I've worked for and always struck me as one with high standards, morals and work ethic. I agree, this does not sound like the person I worked for and there should not be a rush to judgement. She more than earned that when I worked for her. Let things play out and let the facts come out.

Let's not rush to judgement ...this is not consistent with the captain I worked for.

I hope those kids are very proud on themselves.

I like her too, but if this was a case you were making against anyone else you would be saying they are guilty. 6 hour hearing and judge decided case should move forward. Doesn't mean she is guilty, but not a good look. Fair is fair, I'm just saying.

Keep it 100.

You know it’s funny how we make excuses in this case. I know this is a BS case. The next time you J1 for some BS. Think about this case. When the rabbit has the gun, it's no fun.

I have know Capt Kaulbach we were working the streets of southside back in since 1990. Some of the DeKalb Police commentors on here were wearing diapers back then.
I know her and I may not agree with her on everything but I have always respected her her and I can tell you she is NOT a thief. Us older cops are diffrent than what you might think. We all always knew folks were innocent until proven guilty. I think some of the folks now treat cops like they are guilty until proven innocent. Yall need to lay off her until the trial.

Never would gotten a warrant on everybody in DeKalb.

Anon 752........nicely said. I see DeKalb so quick to just arrest someone on BS and then let the courts figure it out. That arrest goes onto their criminal history and stays unless they jump the hoops to expunge it. Now, the shoe is on the other foot. A 6 hour hearing??? I don't see this going very far.

I'm not law enforcement, and I don't know Capt. Kaulbeck, but as a reader of this blog, the thing that sticks out to me is the difference in reactions to her indictment and the reactions to other officers who have been accused of wrongdoing.

I absolutely understand the impulse to defend someone that you know and respect, but it stands in stark contrast to the attitude I've seen on this blog to rush to judgment against others. That makes the title of this blog post very ironic.

It's human nature to form opinions of people based on your past experience with them, but as officers of the law, I expect you to have a higher standard for airing your suspicions publicly, even if it's anonymously on a blog. It's one thing to have your personal suspicions about a person and any allegations against them, but assigning guilt in a public forum such as this before all of the facts are available is irresponsible.

I'd just encourage everyone who posts here, and especially the blogmaster, to exercise the same caution that they urge on this topic in all cases where other officers, or even public officials or suspects, face accusations or wrongdoing.

Can someone please tell me how a veteran police officer could be completely oblivious to the fact that her girlfriend's brat kid is bringing stolen boats and atv's to their house? He's a 17 year old punk! I work several jobs and can't afford any boats or ATV's! Has she totally lost her perp spotting skills? Did she not say anything about the stolen stuff to avoid pissing off her girlfriend? I understand she has friends who support her, but come on! If you really support her tell it like it is and talk some sense into her! When you hang with perps this is what happens!

This is nothing new, this blog from the very beginning has done nothing but be biased against anyone the blog masters dont like personally. It is very amusing how their attitudes change when it is one of their friends involved. Damn shame how it has had a major role in the down fall of what was a good department. They like to take credit for running off Te-bo, well so what, look what that accomplished.

This blog did'nt run Tebo off, he got himself fired. This blog has been used mostly by disgruntled officers to bitch and complain, and this has not accomplished much, but affect the morale of others. I work to make DKPD better and rise above this negativity. If you don't like it here, leave.

I Personally enjoy the blog. I'm glad I can come on here and speak my mind and am able to see what others think on the issues of the DKPD. Everyone has their own opinions and if you don't like it well you have the right to speak what's on your mind. Or you can always not come onto the blog.

To: July 22, 2012 12:41 PM. Thanks for the advise...I did not like what DKPD became, so I left. Now you help DKPD rise up, like the Falcons. By the way, Tebo was a fucking idiot and is whats wrong with this country. "M Gone and Happy"

I have the utmost respect for two professions - teachers and law enforcement. Teachers, because the good ones have the opportunity to inspire children to make the right choices in life, and law enforcement, because they can protect us from those who choose not to become law-abiding citizens. Both are underpaid, but never underestimate the amount of respect and appreciation you have from the majority of citizens.

To one of the previous posters, also never underestimate the power of blogs to effect change - they can and do, however, do carefully consider what you post as you have the potential to damage your credibility.

Be safe out there, and thank you for what you do out there.

Wow... just read about the captain being terminated for violation of policy.

God gives everyone the gift of choice along with the consequences of those choices....she chose to let criminals live in her home in the name of love....now it has cost her a very respected career..everyone will remember seeing her do the *perp* walk on TV..

If you don't know all the facts you shouldn't judge! Her girlfriend's son told her the boats and atv's were a friend of his whose house was forclosed on and needed a place to store his stuff. How would she know any different?

Anonymous said...

Ask who the friend is and verify the story? Is that difficult?

There's no way this kid was an angel and a choir boy until this incident. You don't go from being a perfect kid to committing a bunch of burglaries and stealing high dollar items over night.

This kid was a perp! Even if she was given that bullshit story, she should have known it was bullshit!
