This blog page was established so DeKalb County Police Officers including their family and friends may have a place to hold discussions, post news and vent without fear of retribution.
Pension, pension, pension. You guys better get interested. KEEP THESE IDIOTS AWAY FROM OUR PENSION !!!!! How about it pension board, how do the fees that we pay our MANY financial advisors equal in positive returns?Get interested in the pension. They will rape the fund if they get a chance. We need an attorney to look out for OUR interests !!!
I have not heard a thing in reference to the FOP becoming our "eyeball" on the pension.
The Bush tax cuts for dividends are about to expire and go from 20 to 40% so if you are planning on puling your money out of pension I'd suggest you get started asap.
July 31st....only a week away...
Stan Watson nice job at the Tanqueray Lounge last night. Hope to God the police report doesnt go missing.
How many cid openings are there? How many are they getting and what about the shortage in uniform
I gotta agree with the attorney idea. Would you carry a million dollars around in DeKalb County when everyone knew what pocket it was in? Attorneys are the cops when it comes to $$.
Anon 12:35 the Bush tax cuts have done nothing. The so called job creators have enjoyed the tax cuts and created no jobs, you do know that is part of what that was for?
Any news on the weed incident in the parking lot? Did that get swept under the rug like most stuff around here?
A little OT but this is a open thread, UAV's (unmanned aerial vehicles) have come a long way over the last decade, I know none us want continuous aerial surveilance of citizens due to various constitutional rights to privacy, but the smaller UAV's have a lot of tactical uses and your Special Operations guys might be interested in some of the latest and commercially available products that are very resonably priced. Here is one going for less than 500 bucks on ebay and it is a helicopter type. Link is: http://ardrone2.parrot.com/I would imagine your spec ops guys could find all kinds of uses for this thing. Its certainly a lot cheaper than a million dollar chopper that costs 500-1000 bucks for just one flight. Some food for thought. (Sorry Jeff WIggs and the ASU) This is the future of aerial surveilance as I see it.Best of luck guys and gals!KenC
Come on Ken, when has DeKalb ever made things easier?
Rumor is that TRT is being activated this weekend to go patrol the Brookhaven area until Tuesday night. They plan to show a strong presence of police prior to the election. Can anyone confirm this?
Sgt. Parker just know that you did the right thing. Do not let them tell you otherwise. Word is that Dale Holmes and Chief Annette Williams names were thrown around by ole Stan. Stay on top of this Dale Russell the command staff will try to make it go away.
Everyone assigned to Brookhaven for the weekend then we sh*t on them again Wednesday. One of the problems is that at the dog and pony show community meetings the brass makes promises and lies to the citizens then never follows through. It is too late to assign all cars to the area. The elected officials have already damaged the county in the eyes of working intelligent voters. This tactic will only further hurt the county's cause because it will show the voters all of the resources that they could have been getting for the past years that were busy on Glenwood or guarding murderers funerals.
At least no DeKalb officer was arrested this week. Thanks Commish Stan for taking the heat this week.
When is Crime Mapping going to be available again? I was told the reason no crimes show up for DeKalb on the site is that the Records Management System is down. It's been over two weeks now. I know DeKalb has its problems, but this was a useful tool for residents.
I have only 1 thing to say to you PD Kats, the only thing worse than a dirty cop is a dirty politician. He should be forced to resign strictly based off the fact he was drinking while in a Dekalb uniform.
Glad to be gone from that dump grass is greener outside of Dekalb get out while you can election season is under way pension contribution increases, furloughs, in another year there will be more officers on the road with less than a couple years of experience then veterans I can see the headlines already... Just things to think about be safe out there
Looks like Dekalb County just lost $22 million in taxes and gained a new city....10-35 out of Chat Com
it's pretty cool that you men/women of law enforcement have taken the initiative to create a blog that helps expose the inner workings of this county to regular citizens like me. Thanks
The city of Dunwoody is considering starting its own fire department.http://www.reporternewspapers.net/2012/07/24/dunwoody-interested-in-opening-fire-department/For people that still aren't paying attention or those who refuse to acknowledge reality, this is just one more step towards the dissolution of DeKalb County as we know it. Incorporations, annexations, police, and now fire/ems. Parents are already talking about wanting separate school systems. Then there's speculation about north DeKalb joining Milton County. Don't think it will happen? Ask the naysayers what they thought would happen regarding cityhood for Dunwoody ten years ago and then see how wrong they were.
