85 Years Is Not Nearly Enough Time

Here's the one thing in this story that stood out to this citizen - "the perp turned down a plea deal of 25 years last week". Why the hell is the DA offering a cop shooter a PLEA! Are you kidding me?

I can't believe the defense attorney tried to make the perp look like a good guy by saying he didn't shoot the officer in the head.

There were pension board meetings mid September and mid November. Why have the minutes of these two meetings not been posted on the county web site yet. The last one posted was the July meeting. How long does it take to do this and who in responsible for posting the minutes(?) so we, the people that paid into the pension, can see what is going on. Are we back in the same old boat of being mushrooms, to be kept in the dark about our pension. Contact your pension rep and find out what is going on and why they still do not like to keep us informed.

"He wasn't trying to kill him"
Seriously? Defense attorneys keep getting more and more ridiculous. I don't think she'd appreciate getting shot very much. I know Fulton didn't. At least the jury did the right thing.

Did you guys forget, 85 years is what hes facing ON PAPER. Im guessing he will not serve more than 15 years in custody. Keep in mind this is DeKalb County.

When you go to the pension board web site there is a little construction cone thing on the page, which I assume means it's under construction but as usual Dekalb Co doesn't think to give us a reason that we can't see the updates about our pension and apprently neither do our pension "reps".

I think we all know how this works. He won't get 85 years. He will get 30-40 ish. Out in 10 ish. That's if an appeal finds something wrong with the way the case was handled, or finds mercy with a judge that never risked anything other than maybe a dollar on the lottery. He will now be out again. And he is a murderer willing to kill an officer. That is the worst of the worst. The fact that the officer lived doesn't take away from what this guy will do. Life without parole. They need to change laws for cases like this.
