Tax And Spend

So typical of our county government. Facing financial trouble, once again they choose to tax and spend, leaving the ones who protect the citizens out in the cold.

The commissioners plan to give a 3% raise to those earning (we use that word loosely) less then $37,770 per year. Their ideology is, the ones making more can afford not to get a raise. Where have we heard this theme before? All in the time of fairness.

Who knows what's hidden below the surface? Furloughs days? Lose of paid holidays? We can't possibly know what these people are thinking. One week its close the north precinct and element 100 positions. The next week its higher 25 additional officers.

Bi-polar leadership at it's best and worst and best and worst.

Any word on Brookhaven?

So what they are doing is giving sanitation and watershed employees a raise. The only police that might get a raise from this are the rookies. So a PO 1 gets a raise and veteran officers do not. Fuck you Ellis and fuck you commissioners. Also, Rader came to the police lunch at the college the other day and told us all how grateful he was for police. You sure know how to show it asshole.

Using that logic, then take home cars should not go to captains, majors, assistant chiefs, or chief. They can afford to buy a car and the gas to get from their house to their desk at their respective precincts. Same for BOC, but also include the meals that taxpayers pay for. The BOC can afford their own cars, gas, and meals at the Maloof building. Seems "fair" to me.

Yeah it's a calling...policing etc... the public and the citizens ate behind you and all for you in their time of need...outside that, they crap on us and turn their backs on us. I'm a cop when I punch the clock....outside that, the citizens (like me) are on their own.

Can't wait to be back in the private sector...based on the election results though...that may be a while. The oath stuff...total BS.

Did they so no raises for police officers?

4-3.1 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The objective of the DeKalb County Police Department’s traffic enforcement program is the reduction of fatalities, personal injuries and property damage as a result of traffic accidents. To this end, the Department will collect and analyze traffic accident data in order to direct selective enforcement efforts to
those areas or conditions that contribute to traffic accidents.
The reduction of the number and severity of traffic accidents will be the sole motivation of the department's traffic enforcement efforts. *The generation of revenue or imposition of quota systems will not be a determining factor.*

4-3.4 ENFORCEMENT ALTERNATIVES
Officers are to use individual discretion, based on professional judgment, as to which form of enforcement action will be taken. Action will be appropriate for each violation of the law.

When Rader got up to speak at the college. Every cop in the place should have gotten up and walked out. Glad I wasn't there. I wouldn't spit on any of them if they were on fire.

The ticket strike worked great didn't it? They figured that since y'all want to strike another year without raises....how about y'all just quit writing tickets altogether, except on 41's. And just make that known policy among the lowly UPD Officers, the BOC and Command staff like to make their own rules, UPD guys can make their own as long as it falls under policy.

Blah Blah Blah,,,throw your temper tantrums like little children. Now, how many of you will show up at the next commissioners meeting?

We are not going to be your unappreciated tax collectors anymore! If you have money for new senior centers, new parks, and soap box derby tracks, you've got money to pay us!

Let's start showing the BOC who is in charge by packing the next meeting with uniform officers.

You mean for my 15 a day that I have been averaging as a good little soldier I get nothing. Oh, yea it means that I can keep my take home and get select vacation days.

How long are you going to be 67ed by these morally bankrupt animals? Get together NOW and refuse to write one more citation. Good lord people sanitation is more organized than you and get much better results. They will surpass your pay this time next year yet most of you continue the "yes sir no sir" BS. Grow a pair or find other work.

If you can sleep at night after harassing the general public by being a tax collector 24/7 for Dekalb then please don't bother coming to help on my call (not that you would). On your death bed will you be able to look yourself in the mirror and know you stood for what was right in this world or were a kiss ass too scared to stand up?

We used to have supervisors that would come into roll call and openly say we would never hear a word from them about tickets so long as we were backing one another and being productive where it counts. I suppose those stand up supervisors are long gone now and have no interest in returning to this dump. All the current ones are scared of their own shadows.

There is nothing wrong with a senior citizens center, hell build 10 of them. Make DeKalb as attractive as you can, heaven knows you need something to make it bearable. The thing is you gotta make it safe first, then you can add the perks. Obviously the residents don't mind how much their tax bill is so bloat the government all you want. As far as police, the salaries are not going up for the long timers because it does not fit into a socialist agenda, besides you know you should have got your training and left along time ago.

Police officers are replaceable. But every time you have to replace one of us, you have to spend about 6 months training someone before they ever answer their first 911 call. How much do you think that costs? You have to pay half a year's salary and then some while someone in just sitting in a classroom, not answering calls, not backing up other officers. How much cheaper would it be to just treat us better so you would retain more officers? Treating us better would also allow us to attract high quality officers. The BOC would rather pay us like shit and treat us like shit. Look at how many people are leaving and getting fired. The BOC is making the county less safe and costing the county tons of money in training replacements. If a sanitation worker quits, how long does it take to teach someone to ride the back of a truck and pick up a can?

GOOD LORD channel 11 just reported Dekalb School System obtained a grant for 24 million dollars to purchase school books then didn't buy any and told students to glue their old ones back together. How corrupt can one place be? I guess they figured a second home for themselves was more important than educating their children. Come on feds, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH... R.I.P. Dekalb accreditation.

Anonymous said...

If you vote for any incumbent in Dekalb you're either corrupt yourself or a f&*%$#@ moron.

wahCounAnon 02:57....those stand up supervisors figured it out and left long ago...........

...the last 5 years.....think of all the good officers who have bailed..........

Wonder who all stayed?

Speaking of tickets, the full crew of officers that set up in the school zone on Shallowford Rd. every afternoon, would it be possible to spread the resources. I live near Henderson Middle and we never see an officer. Each day I pass this shopping center there are 3 or 4 cars all writing tickets. Is one school zone more important than another or is there something we don't know. Maybe one car in each would be more helpful with visibility.

To 242 pm the whole ticket quota or as the supervisors call it " goals " has caused officers to find a location where they can bust out a quick 8 or 10 tickets in an hour. This keeps the brass off their a** and then allow them to have the remaining time to work at their leisure. It is time for the state to look into this county's ticket quotas and maybe officers can get back to policing and not just generating revenue. We all know that while not official you have to keep your numbers to keep the take home, preferred leave time, or choice J2. 15 a day then you can play!

@12/18/12 2:42..those officers are from the Special Operations Division, not the precinct and their primary focus is on traffic safety issues and complaints. They are at that location because data indicates there is a problem with speeders in the school zone and/or other citizens have complained that there were no officers addressing the issue of speeders in that school zone. If you are looking for answers to regular patrol questions either contact the north precinct or center precinct.

6:02PM, care to share that data here? Or is that just an easy place for the Special Ops ticket nazis to meet their quota?

To December 17th, 6:39. As a DeKalb Voter I can tell you there were no options on the last ballot. There were only incumbents, I wrote in just so I didn't give them my vote.

As an exDKPD I used to say that DKPD "does more with less" as a badge of honor. Now I can see that's a dangerously dumb way to have to police. It's no fault of any officer but ya'll bear the burden of a seemingly corrupt political machine and command staff that's rendered ineffective because if it.

The county has to change before the PD can heal itself.

To 11:18 the data states that it is a great place to get a quick dozen under your belt. Mostly hispanic drivers, baited hunting ground. The business owners there once complained because they fill up their entire parking lot with units daily. Enforcement is great but spread it around. You'll notice the same units sit there everyday. After 2:45 they goo back into hiding and radio silence. Come on guys don't let them sell you out for a take home.
