120 Days And Counting

For over 120 days, since Burrell Ellis' home and office was searched by the D.A.'s office tying Burrell to corruption, uniform officers have been stationed in front of Burrell's house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The reason given for the needed security was because of "traffic". Well first of all, we all know that's a lie. Secondly, surely the traffic has died down by now. Seriously, who cares if his house is the scene of a crime. It's not like the book depository or something.

Typical county smoke and mirrors. Nobody is going to jail. If Vernon Jones didn't go to jail, nobody else will. They will just keep it tied up in court forever ,or until some other county crook surfaces,or until the citizen simpleton's simply forget .Random thought "It's strange that men/women should take up crime, when there are so many legal ways to be dishonest. THERE IT IS !!!!!!

Another example of how members of a certain political party wastefully spend other peoples money. Im sure if he had to pay for the officers outside of his home they would have been out there for a day or two at most.

On another note, did anyone catch the AJC article about the 70 DeKalb sanitation workers who attended the most recent BOC meeting ? They attended to make their voice heard in regards to wanting to unionize with the Teamsters Union. The sanitation workers are more organized and aligned with each other than we are. That needs to change

Serenity Now

Anonymous said...

For obvious reasons the sanitation workers are more organized and aligned is because here we have way to many officers who want to back stab one another or who are envious of where other officers work. Give it a break already....there is no way in hell the officers in this department will here come together and unify, there is too much animosity among the ranks. Jealousy is running rampant....AND GUESS WHAT

The BOC & Citizens know it cause all they have to do is pull up this blog. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it Cochise. It sucks when the truth hurts.

My advise to many of you disgruntled officers. Why don't you put on your big boy or girl pants and start acting like professionals instead of a bunch of kindergarteners on a playground fighting over who swings next.

I saw the sanitation workers on TV.
I had wished that the Police Force
had joined them. It was the first
meeting that ERCKEL was at in God knows when.
Its the Police turn. If Rhinehart
is leaving ..Its time for others
to take a stand.
Its time for the Commissioners to
wake up and the employees have to wake them up.
Good Luck..

We've been there done that.... said...

Unions have no power in the State of Georgia....there is No Right to collective Bargaining..etc... IBPO wouldn't stand up and they're an established union... vote with your feet and leave.

Sanitation can strike PD can't.

Let's stop all this in house fighting and work together like we do if a signal 63 went out. When that happens we don't ask ourselves where that officer works before we respond. We just come together from all over the county to help that officer. As long as we stay divided the BOC loves it. Let's work as one....The thin blue line. Start going to the BOC meetings. We have a new Chief who as of now appears to give a damn about the department. Lets trying working with him and see what happens. What will it hurt.

Another episode of the soap opera in Dekalb County. Another day of the common bullshit come from the mouths of those crooked politicians. Another day of total mismanagement of county funds. Another day of crooks running rampard.

The end result.....What else is new?

NOTHING

So Homeland sends out an email alert today about a school resource officer who had his police gear stolen in a burglary. Last month the same thing happened to a DKPD sergeant; equipment and uniforms stolen. There was also a video of the suspect. Not only did Homeland not respond to the scene, but no email alert was sent out. No press release, no canvassing of the area, not even a phone call to the sergeant. This is one of our own! Chief ALexander, please fix this place!

Anon 7:09,
Are you surprised? This place is a joke. I'm sure if a county commissioner got burglarized Homeland, CID chief, precinct commader, swat, would've shown up.

Here is why the Police don't have the same political power that the San. workers do: none of you live in DeKalb County. Do a quick mental survey of 10 other cops you know. How many of them are willing to live in and raise families in DeKalb? Probably 1 out of 10. You have no political voice when 10% have the power to vote. But almost every San. worker lives in DeKalb county. Plus --- there are more San. employees than cops - a lot more! The only thing you have for political power is whatever sentiment the citizens have for you. With a large percentage of the population now (or soon to be - Hello Oak Grove and Tucker) living within their own police jurisdictions, you only have central/east/south DeKalb citizens to support you. Look at the CEO and School Board members that DeKalb citizens elect and that will tell you how they feel about their government. If you want a glimpse into DeKalb's future, look to the south in Clayton County. That's what a county looks like after its school board has trashed the school system and corrupt politicians (talkin' 'bout you, Victor Hill) are voted in and returned to office. This kind of impotent political bellyaching has been going on for the last 20 years around here as things get worse and worse and worse. YOU WILL NEVER CHANGE DEKALB COUNTY but you can change yourself. Grab your trash, your brats, and your old lady and head to some county or city where the citizens actually appreciate their police officers. Those places are out there. You just gotta grow a set and be willing to make the move.

Are you telling me, there was a picture of the perp and no press release??? Wow! Somebody's head needs to roll on that! Hopefully no one is killed with the officer's gun. I want to know which precinct did this occur in. Hopefully not one I work. Damn, how about notifying the officers.

Anonymous said...

@ 7:09 You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. I saw North Precinct C.I.D.'s BOLO on Gail's Burglary. Go whine about something else.

To Anon 8:30 AM...

Your observations are dead on the money! I was born and raised I Dekalb and as a young man, the DeKalb Police were what kept the fear of GOD in me and kept Dekalb safe. I always respected them, and even though I never really aspired to be a Dekalb officer back then, when the oportunity came, I jumped onboard to be one with both feet. Now, as a retired Dekalb County police officer, I live in a safe rural community where I bought land and built my home and raised my children. Moving here 21 years ago and commuting to work in Dekalb gave my children opportunities completely unheard of in urbanized, crime infested and traffic snarled metro Atlanta. I saw the writing on the wall over 20 years ago, found where I wanted to live, made a plan, stuck to it, grew a set, and left. It was by far the best decision I have ever made.
Young Dekalb officer, please listen to us who came before you. We have your best intrests at heart. You are part of a long line of Dekalb cops and we may not have collective bargaining rights and the county may have scattered us to the 4 winds to devide and conquer us, but those elected politicinas will NEVER have what we have or see what we have seen, and do what we have had to do to survive. They are clueless and the people who elect them are just as blind.
Get out of Dekalb while you can. Move 50 miles away at least. Its ok to work there if you can stand a hostile work environment, but dont even try to raise your kids there.

DeKalb county has become the joke of the southeast. Now you have a new chief going on msnbc morning joe with biden to push for gun control.

Anonymous said...

Anon 7:09 is correct. Homeland didn't put out anything on the burglary. Don't take my word though, just go ask the sgt-victim. You are clear there is video of the perp?

Anonymous said...

Oh a Bolo? Oh okay! Good looking. And the press release? Some idiot is out there running around with a POLICE OFFICER'S GUN!!!

There is FOOTAGE of this person caught on Camera. The PUBLIC should be alerted. Guess it's just me and my work ethic. Sorry, but that couldn't have come across my desk and I simply do a bolo. That's just piss poor CID work.
Anonymous 7:09's point is.....let's put the effort out there for our own. I don't think 7:09 is whinning.
WHERE IS THE PRESS RELEASE???

Anonymous said...

@ 1044 Homeland does not handle Burglaries. Why do
we keep slamming each other ?

Anonymous said...

An Intelligence Bulletin is just a fancy term for a BOLO. If CID put out a BOLO, there's no need for a redundant Intelligence Bulletin. An Intelligence Bulletin about an Officer losing their stuff in another agency is just a rehash of another agency's BOLO. Our CID sent out a BOLO. You got all of the intelligence on the incident you needed.

Anonymous said...

We are clear Homeland doesn't handle burglaries. Duh! They do, however, get involved in sensitive incidents as such. This is why they put out the bulletin about the resource officer's burglary. The poster was only making a VALID point that the bare minimum was done in response to the DKPD sgt's burglary. I agree; If this had been a county commissioner's residence it would have been handled differently.

Anonymous said...

I see the Homeland folks are upset. This is probably the most typing they've done in a long time.

Anon 12:12,
We have a perp in the community with a full police uniform, gun, radio and ID, and is fully capable of impersonating a DKPD officer. Are you telling me that Homeland shouldn't get involved in this?

By the way. Per APD, they haven't received an Intel Bulletin from our Homeland regarding the burglary.

Settle down officers. Let's just do better next time. Stop fighting each other. Everyone has made valid points. Chill out. The real fight is coming together.

Well boys and girls, here's the latest. Dekalb county has hired another one from Fulton County - Atlanta government as the new interim county attorney. Overtis Brantley as an interim, who like Micheal Thurmond interim school superintendent, by the way is campaigning every day for the job permanently! AMAZING HOW THESE JOBS ARE NEVER POSTED!!!!

Anonymous said...

Who's turn is it to play Chief next? I think we've gotten to everyone by now. How many have we had in the last 10 years, 5, 6? What a joke this place is.

Anonymous said...

April 15..10:43 Well, kiss my grits! Fulton County ex-employee again? Here's a novel idea: since the BOC is so adept at "robbing Peter to pay Paul". Maybe they can figure out a way to drop the name " DeKalb County" and adopt a new one: Fulton County II. Planning Dept. has many former Fulton Co. employees as well but nothing bad going on there ..except maybe with one male planner but that's just a rumor. .

The DKPD of years ago was better, but not much. Certain dummies bought their rank up the ladder, and the place was full of snitches.
Most who snitched me out are dead or 1 foot in the grave and another on a banana peel.I survived until retirement, but I should have moved on in 1974 to a better dept.

No comment just yet about the new chief and his buddies

Anonymous said...

I'm waiting to see if we will have to start driving Micheal Thurmond around the County next, he's visiting all the influential communities. His sales pitch for the school's superintendent job is well rehearsed. Maybe he'll request someone from TAC to drive him.

On April 1, Chief Alexander was sworn in as the new Chief. During his comments, he stated "...everybody is treated the same. No one is different. that's what the community expects of us, and that's what were going to deliver as good police service."
With this in mind, I surely do not believe he is doing that seeing as he continues to provide round the clock police protection for the CEO after a search warrant was executed at his home 3 months ago and there is no justification for this use (or abuse) of police services. You can watch the entire ceremony at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJqf5Ue-llA& . The quote I referenced comes at 19:32 mins.

Anonymous said...

Maybe he is afraid of the people that he may turn evidence on to avoid a cell. The ones that know that he knows something. Private security a**hole like all the other businesses in this county havet o pay for. If your position is putting you at risk then resign!

For all you folks that are mad about the officers sitting on Burrell's house--FYI, Kasim Reed has an officer stationed outside his house 24-7 as well, and has since he took office. I bet Shirley Franklin did too. Reed also has an APD officer security detail. I am no fan of Burrell's, but he ain't the only one doing it-nationally, most big city mayors/city managers have this in place. TO the folks who are mad that Chief Alexander has not removed the officers from Burrell's house- can he do that? Geez guys, he works for the CEO, there are certain things that he will HAVE to do, no matter how he feels about them! Have faith, Lil Vernon will be endicted before the year is out, I believe in Robert James. BTW I have met Chief Alexander a couple of times and I think he sincerely cares about the officers (unlike some command staff who are gone, and some who still remain). He also speaks very well on TV, thank God. Watching Tebo at a press conference was extremely painful.
