At least two comments say Chief Alexander say's he believes the CEO is innoncent and that he is a good honest man. Can someone please give the details as to when and where the Chief said this, if he did say it (a link to a news story or something)?

I'm very glad that the FOP sends Ret. Lt John Gardner to the pension meetings and that he is on top of what's going on. I hope I'm not ticking him off by saying this but that's how I feel. Glad he is looking out for the retirees.

I'm not affilated with the FOP but I will be after finding out of his interest on the part of the retirees. Thanks Lt.

In the last two years, it appears that a segment of the Nuwabian cult that left Eatonton has opened up shop in unincorporated DeKalb on Ponce and adjacent to the DeKalb Farmers Market. A recent photo and post on the Decatur Metro blog was taken down (link broken) very quickly last week, without explanation. Should the neighbors in Scottdale and Avondale be concerned? Thanks in advance for your insight.

Is Andrew Baker in the Planning Department name mentioned in the indictment? If not, it should be. That man middle name should be "Do anything for cash and MEN."

We all know Baker loves the contractors and most contractors are MEN.

Everyone needs to stop hiding behind this blog and start standing up for what is right, no matter what others subjectively believe is wrong. If you’re not willing to fight your own battle, then leave or continue doing what you’re told. We all signed up for this job to help the citizens of DeKalb, not to generate revenue for the county which tends to always lead to corruption (as we've seen in the past and continue to see). We need to stop letting outsiders with little or no law enforcement experience come into this county and run it to the ground and then leave 2-3 years later. With Ellis being indicted, we are starting to get back on track. Now once Cedric Alexander leaves the department, we can finally get someone who knows a little about how Georgia law and how the department operates. We’ve been forced to get rid of too many good officers because of him and his new regime.

Oh and for the person who keeps putting down Major White, start acting your age and stop hiding behind your computer. Have you ever requested to talk to him in private to discuss your issues? He is an outstanding person and continues to treat people fairly, even if he’s following orders. If you feel he mistreated you improperly in the past, you can always file a complaint with Internal Affairs so they can do an investigation. Right now they are in no position to cover up for anyone and have been doing everything by the book for the past couple months as we’ve all seen.

One more thing… The soap in the bathroom at old 34 will never be replaced if you only complain about it on this blog.

Anytime you have federal grants, etc received by a bunch of thugs in the form of Watershed Management, etc then you will have falsified contracts and work orders being done so the thugs can get kickbacks from their thug partners in crime they hire to do the work (or lack thereof). Dekalb Co govt has been sucking everyone dry illegally for some time now and as soon as one thug is finally caught and prosecuted 10 more take their place so don't place your hope and faith in this pitiful place. Move on, it's the only sane choice.

Anon 1:23,
Just ask the chief yourself when he comes to a precinct near you. I wish Robert James would hold a meeting like Ellis did Monday. It would be interesting to see what, if any, police brass showed up. That would tell you the chief's position on this issue. A police chief who supports a corrupt politician. You cant make this stuff up!

Ref living in county; you should never police in an area you live. It creates bias, not to mention the safety concerns. Policing 101 guys/gals.

To: KEEP THESE IDIOTS AWAY FROM OUR PENSION. Watch what the BOC votes on in July. Pension contributions are going up again my friends. Don't take my word for it. Read Ellis' manifesto that was handed out at his "Employee Assembly" last Monday. How does a 20%+ increase in what you are currently contributing feel?

Anonymous said...

I suppose we're supposed to work here out of the goodness of our hearts and privilege of interacting with Dekalb residents. It's gotten to the point where I would make more money just staying home.

I first came to this blog because I was researching an apt complex our firm was interested in buying. But as an owner of apt complexes throughout metro Atlanta geared towards lower income families, I am interested in feedback from you all on how we can help provide safer places to live. What can we do as landlords to ensure safety of our residents besides hiring security guard companies to patrol 24/7 (which is impractical financially and also rarely does much)? Thanks for your answers and thanks for all you do!

Anonymous said...

To 7:29: If you insist on owning property in this county, invest in cameras. Install them throughout your complex, so when the crime does happen, we have a witness. Nine times out of ten, your residents won't be.

Move to City of Brookhaven,or far north in City of Dunwoody. Anywhere else in Dekalb ,and you will quickly become a victim,or a statistic ! If you have kid's,better find a private school! Don't buy a house.Your business will not be here that long !!

ANON7:29
The best bet for your company is to enforce the rules of living in your complex. If someone is not on the lease, they cannot live their. Often times the renter on record allows a person who is unemployed, unemployable calling what you want then it goes down from there. A complex full of unemployed people is nothing but trouble. Enforce the lease. Any changes and they can be kicked out.

I'm so sick of receiving Ellis's daily emails asking for us to volunteer our time for this and that to try and make him look better in the public eye.

No one replied to my question- What does Keith Barker have anything to do with current Ellis situation?

Someone made a random comment- Thanks Keith Barker

Anonymous said...

Who the hell would subject themselves, much less their family, to life and/or work in Dekalb County? Makes me nauseous just thinking about it.

You reap what you sow. Erkle shit on Keith Barker and now its time for Keith to shit on Erkle.

How many others did Erkle do wrong? Now they coming back to haunt you. They same people you met going up, you meet the same people coming down.

I know when the cashier in Publix gave me a discount on one item, I felt really bad and return the discounted item. If I felt bad about a $3 discount, HOW DOES ELLIS FEEL ABOUT A 15 count indictment?

Anonymous said...

Two groundbreakings for new senior centers in the center and south areas. Unbelievable. What a spit in the face. I don't care what budget or bond program or wherever the money came from. At the end of the day, money is money. Police services are itemized on county property tax bills in DeKalb and yet all of that money collected under that heading is not used for the police budget. A good portion of it gets reallocated elsewhere.

Proposals for pension contribution increases are on the table again and may be voted on within the next month or two. Are you ready to fork over more money that you don't have to give ??

We need to stand up for ourselves and start going to BOC and pension board meetings in numbers. The garbage people and the animal shelter people have done it. The animal rights folks are making headway. It didn't happen overnight but they were persistent and relentless with their position against the county and the county was forced to do something they probably would not have done.

If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
Think about it !

SERENITY NOW

You people do not understand the relationship between the Chief and Ellis. Ellis hired him, so the Chief is not going to say anything bad regarding Ellis. Think about this.....If your boss who hired you said that you were a SOB, would you turn around a smack him in the face? Of course not.

Bearing this mind, do you now know or understand how the job works?
You people must learn how to communicate with others, especially trying to make the third people who is reading this blog understand what you are trying to say. You were taught this in the academy, so why not use it? They also taught you how to spell, which a vast majority of you didn't learn.

Before you critique someone, make sure your information is correct and not what is on your mind.

I remember hearing rumors that Chief Alexander thought this place was top heavy and was going to downsize the command staff. So why the hell were more folks promoted to Major?

If you are retired, then you had a bad life and career and now, you are pissed off at the world. You have a serious problem and are dangerous to the community.

By the way, I am in LE and have been very successful in life, what is your excuse?

Anonymous said...

We are losing officers faster than they can be trained and replace. They come to roll call telling us help is on the way to handle call volume. That only lasted a short time. At least we got rid of the Teams , so we can at least try and keep up with the calls. I got tired of people complaining about how long it took me to get to them. We need more offices not all these promotions.
Do you really think things are changing for the better?

Reality is...we are way to top heavy to begin with....TOP HEAVY is putting it mildly....yet another 2 page blue order.....thats cool.....a few good promotions in there....but I'm not drinking the Cool-Aid anymore....and no...I'm not on any list to be promoted....I'm just tired of being hit with a cattle prod......

Things will not get any better until the County does something to show that they appreciate their employees. Hey BOC, I would suggest starting with a 3 percent raise, then a 2 percent cola around xmas. Currently there are about 10-15 officers that will be turning in their resignation for Brookhaven in the next week.

There is another 10 or so that are on the fence. The County is losing more than they can hire. Keep in mind for every ten that we lose, it takes 20 new officers at least two years to replace the ten that left.

Dear Br. CEO and BOC you guys are a bunch of thug gangsters. None of you actually care about Public Safety. I hope dickhead Ellis goes bye bye for a good minute. How about during his campaigns "Nothing is more important than Public Safety"

Hey Chief, why the fuck are we babysitting his house?? Are we going to sit there while hes in jail to so we can keep his family safe? WTF!! Make a decision, that one officer that is tied up doing that bullshit, is the one officer that wont be able to back another officer up when he gets seriously hurt or killed. Where the fuck are your priorities??

Signed: Mr. Fed up with this Counties political bullshit.

We are still guarding the CEO's house because this chief is a puppet. He is full of shit when he tells the public he wants to reduce crime, but he has his officers guarding the house of a corrupt politician who has a 15 count indictment. This department is the laughing stock of the south.

Anonymous said...

To Mr Grunt and Mr Fed Up......

At some point you'll realize the department, the BOC, and the citizens don't care what you think or what you have to say.

DC has a populous which despises the police and everything it stands for. Thats why they reelected BarnesSutton, and for the matter Burrel. Kinda like how Clayton County reelected Victor Hill. Its why you haven't had a raise in 6 years.......

Its just how the citizens of DC are. No reason or logic. Purely emotional.

You cant fix it. It will only get worse.

Quit. Leave. move on. Nobody cares. Hundreds and I mean hundreds have figured this out and taken their talents elsewhere.

You just haven't figured it out yet. But you will.

and one last thing..........

this is what I did............

sit in their neighborhoods and do nothing. I mean absolutely nothing. No tickets, no pos, no stops!
That is the worst thing you could do to the citizens of dc.

Answer your calls and give it 10 minutes before you put that unit in drive.

Get a wireless card for your laptop and search for jobs on county time. Read a book. Pull up in a park and read a magazine, search the internet, drink coffee, polish your resume, BUT DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING till you get out of there like the rest of us have already done.

Thats how you get back at the county, the citizens, and the department.

Anonymous said...

Chief:
You had a lot of good men with 10+ years experience that are leaving. You have plenty more thinking about it. You can not afford to keep losing veteran officers. I'm not even talking about money right now. It's time to clean house. It's time to look at some of your assistant chiefs, majors, captains and lts. Why are they in those positions anymore? You have an assistant chief who with the help of Wiz Miller tried to cover up an investigation because it was the Asst Chief's secretary. Good officers were put under the microscrope and money wasted proving nothing. It lowers morale when rank officers are allowed to do what they want to protect the ones "they choose". PLEASE look at your command staff and clean house. It would do a lot to save veteran officers even without a raise.

Anonymous said...

Please don't sit in our neighborhoods and do nothing. I appreciate the work you do. The county is troubled, but I'm no quitter and I pray for the strength and safety of our officers. I follow the rules and pay the taxes as asked. I'd pay more if it meant people were compensated as they should be. I'm not related to an officer nor am I friends with one but I do have a great deal of respect for every person taking the oath the protect and serve.

Hey guys great blog

I'll be finishing my B.A. in about six months and have been a reserve officer for about 4.5 years and was looking at your department as I know someone from my department got hired their a few years back. I'm browsing the departments website and its depicted as "the place to be in law enforcent". It looks like you guys hire on a pretty consistent basis.
From what I've researched it looks like you guys work 10 hours a day four days a week! That's awesome to have 3 days off, I can't wait to apply and hope I make the cut! Any info you'd have for an out of state candidate would be greatly appreciated. ..stay safe out there guys!

Anon 7:53pm, If you want to board the Titanic then go right ahead. The best advice you will ever get is to take your B.A. to a department that will appreciate it. If you are looking to be a number in a uniform then by all means go ahead with your application to DKPD.

LoFlyer said...

A lot of heartfelt comments.
To DKPD hopeful. Like others have said, look elsewhere. The CEO and BOC treat the employees and officers worse than they would their own dog. The pay is low and they don't care about the employees one iota except to figure out ingenuous ways to bilk the employees and then provide unnecessary services to get them re-elected.
Moving on, so the county is building two new senior centers in south and central DeKalb.
Typical DeKalb politicians bias against north DeKalb.
To DeKalb political leaders. No doubt you now understand that losing Dunwoody and Brookhaven was not the brightest idea. In fact it was damned stupid, but you did it anyway. Twice. Almost nothing in the "big-three" bond issues was built in North DeKalb over the last decade and a half. And you can't understand why north DeKalb citizens are pissed off at paying for the bonds and receiving virtually nothing for the extra taxes for the bonds.
Lakeside is considering incorporation and the county continues to ignore the north and concentrate on south/central DeKalb. Yep, when you made two colossally stupid mistakes, you keep making the same poor decisions over and over again.
It's akin to killing the "goose that laid the golden egg".
I would say more, but you aren't listening anyway due to your inflated ego's and moronic interpretation of your duties.

Do you guys ever conduct any D.U.I. checkpoints? I encounter them in every other metro county but never Dekalb and looking around at the drivers there it's obvious enforcement is desperately needed.

Anonymous said...

I know we get fed grant money to enforce D.U.I. but have no idea where it's being utilized.

Anonymous said...

dekalb is too damn busy for dui checkpoints. Too busy with not enough officers to handle the call volume. busy with real violent crimes. dui's are secondary.

Anonymous said...

Our DUI task force only has a few people on it. TAC could help them out with road block, but TAC are negative-vampires. They can only come out during the day, they can't come out after dark.

Anonymous said...

No, we don't conduct DUI check points...But we do conduct burglary check points....Only problem is no one has ever pulled up and said " hey I just broke I to the house down the street". Just blowing smoke up citizens ass while calls for service are held....stupid? or smart? You decide.

Anonymous said...

I don't consider my family being killed by a drunk driver "SECONDARY" but I do think perp on perp shootings qualify. Is it any wonder why normal citizens avoid Dekalb like the plague?

Anonymous said...

This would make a great news story, DKPD Doesn't Take DUI Seriously, considers it SECONDARY.

I realize there's no money in it but 1 DUI arrest per officer per shift would go a long way. They're out there in plain sight and you'd have to deliberately look the other way not to notice.

Anonymous said...

11:20pm,

The commissioners don't take anything related to pd seriously. That's why we are losing people left and right, no raises in 6 years, pay cuts, furloughs, not enough units to drive, etc...

Anonymous said...

One DUI arrest per shift?? what planet are you on?? a DUI arrest takes 3 hours. We have 6 or 7 officers each watch, to police 85,000 people. How would you like us to enforce DUI's? We dont have time. We average 14 dispatched calls in 8 hours. You let me know when anyone has the ability to enforce or look for DUI's. My precinct averages 1 or 2 DUI arrests within 24 hour period. You want DUI arrests? How about you explain to your BOC how DeKalb County Police needs 100 officers right now, along with a raise and cola. Maybe that will keep officers here longer than 2 years and we can become a proactive police department again. Right now we just respond to 911 calls plain and simple, thats it!!! You always have that 1 or 2 officers on a watch that want to go out and find perps. I think thats great, the only problem is now because they are tied up with an arrest that the DA's office wont prosecute anyways, now there are 4 or 5 of us to handle all of the calls. The calls begin backing up, and the next watch spends hours handling calls that have been holding for hours.

HEY CHIEF WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS!!

Anonymous said...

Hey Chief, I would like to introduce you to Gwinnett County or Cobb County. They are both Metro counties that do policing right. Enforce DUI, stop crime, sweep gang activity, pay their personnel, provide decent units to drive, etc. What is the freaking difference? Corruption, all of our money is being diverted to corrupt projects and payoffs. PD 150 positions short and falling daily, FD, 125 positions short and falling daily, it goes on and on. An audit needs to be done into the designated police and fire taxes and see just how much money is being skimmed out of both funds. Where the hell is the money going? If the chief's new pet unit states that 10% of the people commit 90% of the crime that 10% works in Decatur. Stop wasting gas riding around trying to find them. They ain't in Lithonia.

Anonymous said...

Well hopefully anyone with common sense if having to choose would make the DUI arrest and potentially save innocent lives. Let the inconsequential calls pile up. The majority don't merit a police response anyway. If a supervisor has an issue with your 2 DUI arrests you made during your shift and not handling any petty calls, take it to the media and see what the public response is. Overwhelming support for the officer I assure you.

Anonymous said...

Not a damn thing. He is nothing but a person to hang the blame on when shit goes bad. He has NO power to do a damn thing in this dept. Citizens don't give a damn either they getting rid of DKPD and replacing it with city departments one by one. Not really giving a damn myself. Two more years and I am gone, along with many others.

whoever the person is who keeps complaining about dui's. dekalb pd isnt mayberry or some rural dept, regardless of what you experienced in gwinnett or whereever!! if you worked one day on a dekalb beat you would understand!! calls are constantly holding. if you want to complain, dont complain to the guys in the trenches, go to your county commish and complain!! your going to call the news?? really? you have no idea how much crime there is in dekalb. Most stuff Never makes the news. Its unfortunate how very uninformed and oblivious you are.

No one worries about driving drunk in Dekalb, they know cops here go out of their way to avoid making D.U.I. cases, even at the expense of other officer's lives.

Anonymous said...

Yes Chief, why are your officers avoiding DUI arrests?

Anonymous said...

Standby for D.U.I. checkpoints as soon as the media pulls open records request for D.U.I. stats. We all know how reactive (forced to act) as opposed to pro active this place is.

Anonymous said...

Hey Citizens and News People......

You need to do an Open Records Requests on Tucker Morning Watch and look for DUI arrests. There are none!!

Funny how Clayton County can have a wreck on I 75 and 6 out of 7 drivers are DUI yet Dekalb Uniform avoids DUIs like the plague!

Anonymous said...

DUI arrest aren't made for several reasons. One being Officers are either too lazy or too scared to make them..Not enough training so they are not comfortable making them. DUI arrest will cause them to come in on off time for ALS hearings (down town) Atlanta, where they pay for parking (I believe). Then they are given COMP time, not paid overtime, which is violation of FMLA (unless officer agrees to comp time). Then comes the trial. They will spend hours if not days in court (if suspect gets high dollar DUI attorney). Again during there off time or day off. As STAR team officer I spent more time in court on DUI case then CID would on an armed robbery or homicide case. There is money to be made by the attorney trying these cases and they know it. Judges allow them to put on their dog and pony show, because they know that suspect is paying big bucks. DUI is a crime that society excepts because most of the public is guilty of it themselves. NO one cares until someone is killed, just like gun control issue. It is addressed when it fits into someone's agenda. That's fact like it or not. I been out here over thirty years and know that officers will run not walk away from DUI arrest. Because the system makes it a pain in the ass to make them. Like it or not, blame the officers ??? Or the system??? Either way it's broken and needs to be fixed..But it never will be. You can take that to the bank.

Anonymous said...

Most officer don't want to do a DUI anyway. Hey take them out of the car and give them a public intox. ticket....remember that???
Officers do not know how to make a DUI stop.
So stop crying about the freaking DUI situation.

Anonymous said...

You all forget that our new chief reduced the size of our DUI unit when he took office.....just ask the STAR unit bubba's....unfreaking believable.... so who can he bitch at....the mirror

How do you expect officers to proactively seek out drunk drivers when they are going call to call with a dozen calls pending? If you want proactive enforcement, tell your commissioner to hire more officers and treat the ones you have better so they don't leave.

Anonymous said...

This is just disgusting and those neglecting their duty with no DUI arrests should be ashamed. How can you look the family of killed Doraville Officer Shane Wilson in the eye.

Anonymous said...

So you're saying your chief essentially eliminated D.U.I. arrets? And the long term command staff/supervisors were okay with this? Is anyone there paying attention anymore?

Anonymous said...

9:46am- well spoken. You are obviously a well informed veteran. I will keep what you said in mind. Thank you sir.

Anonymous said...

No one said that our new Chief eliminated DUI arrest's. What our new Chief did with his infinite wisdom and a wall full of degrees was reduced the size of Dekalb Police's DUI unit....and the traffic enforcement unit. It was necessary so he could promote a list full of asses that wasn't need because we have a shortage of officers that don't need to be supervised.

Let me just say this to the citizens of Dekalb. It's all about revenue. The powers to be care more about officer's stopping you for a tail light broken, or your window tint than getting someone for a DUI. The reason is the county makes money off of all those traffic tickets that officers are pressured to write by the fist full...they don't see any $$$ from a DUI case cause it goes to State court, not Recorder's Court.

Time & Time again officer's are told, tickets, tickets, tickets, tickets. If you're out there making DUI arrest then your ticket numbers fall and then you get a nastygram bout your performance and why are your ticket numbers down. They're not interested in anything but tickets, tickets, and more tickets.

We hunt at night, oh I forgot, we don't hunt at all. The only thing this department hunts for now is revenue from quick to write and not contested tickets in recorders court. Gotta keep feeding the big corrupt machine. Wouldn't want my major to lose his gravy slot. Sick and tired of being told tickets, tickets, tickets, etc. If it ain't a quota I don't know what is. That the only good thing about baby sitting the CEO's house is no stat sheet. Oh yea and pissing in his yard!

same 10 clueless whiners over and over....solicitors office processed 4800 DUI in 2012...does anyone know how many DUIs arrest were made in any yr?

Anonymous said...

@ 4:14pm.....yeah that POS had been arrested for three previous DUI's......lot of good that did for Shane Wilson.

How many of that 4800 were from DKPD? I bet mostly other municipalities inside Dekalb. It's doesn't take a complicated algorithm to realize Dekalb officers don't make D.U.I arrests. Just look at stats for Uniform Officers compared to other agencies.

1142 pm. stop being a lil b*%&#h!!! Im sick of hearing all your damn crying!! if you hate Dekalb police so much then move to gwinnett! You talk about stats compared to other departments??? b&%#h please!! Nobody in the state of georgia handles more calls than Dekalb. and that goes for pd, dispatch, and fire.....check the stats. You wouldnt last a day as a police officer there.....nobodys police depts perfect, but like the previous person said, the dui driver who killed the doraville officer had multiple dui arrests and that didnt prevent anything. Dekalb Officers are doing their jobs, I know because one saved my life.

I'm tired of people like this coming on this blog and constantly bashing my department. A quick search showed Dunwoody Pd had 194 arrests for DUI last year. Now, if you think Pine Lake, Stone Mountain, Lithonia, Avondale, Chamblee, Clarkston, and Doraville somehow wrote THOUSANDS of DUI's...well I'll be nice and say you're not very smart.

Am I the only one getting tired of the constant bashing of our department by the uninformed anonymous posters on this site? I always thought we should try and help one another, so much for the law enforcement family.

Look no one likes D.U.I. , we are not properly trained for them and you have to be in court too much. Look Traffic Specialist won't even charge folks with DUI they stopped taking blood on drivers and just let them go. I don't blame them we have real criminals to deal with besides someone with a couple of beers driving.

What are the plans for protecting citizens from the Trayvon Martin rioters next week when the verdict is read?

Just got an interesting email from the Star supervisor. Only one single person on the roster for next week's dui class that they put on twice a year for anyone to attend. Not properly trained huh? I guess that shows that this issue is really about effort and desire to do your job. Don't lie to yourself about calls pending. If a known dope perp rides by you on your way to an alarm call, you will find a reason to stop it and have radio hold the call or reassign. I mean a big dope arrest has a bit of bragging rights to it doesn't it? A dui not so much. A dui is just as much of a "call" as any other and deserves more priority than many of these other calls that you say prevent you from being capable of doing anything proactive. Only a small fraction of those calls are priority 1 calls. I have to clear on them, so I know. That's just an excuse and a crutch so you don't have to make the effort. When I used to make these stops, and I made quite a few of them,it did not take 3 hours..it took one because I learned how to do them right. How long do you milk that domestic? Probably about an hour. How long did that wreck take? About an hour. Everybody has there thing..some like to hunt for burglars by doing business checks all night, some like to find dopers by stalking the hotels all night, some like to find dui drivers, some like to do nothing. Just be honest and say you don't like dui because it takes some effort and intelligence and stop making uninformed excuses that make it sound like you would love to help, but for some reason the department just won't allow you to.

I didn't know about that dui class until yesterday, less than a week prior to the class.

@July 9, 2013 at 11:42 PM....city PDs process most of their DUI arrest thru their city court, a very small portion get remanded to State Ct. The 4800 cases where an accusation was filed in State Ct were mostly DKPD cases. Does anyone have the total # of DUI arrest made last year by DKPD?

My last two cents on this subject. DUI arrest or lack of should I say is mostly a society issue. Again all classes of persons drink and drive. No one cares until someone is killed, then the knee jerking starts. If you think about it we as Officers spend 10 hrs. a shift on the road. Either driving or being exposed to the dangers of intoxicated driver standing outside your unit working a scene or making traffic stops. So We should be concerned it is us they kill. But again the legal system makes the arrest, trial and conviction so damn difficult. Not to mention the lack of any real punishment if you get a conviction, after conviction, after conviction. Get my point. Officers that are eager to get out there and make arrest are soon deterred when the system bogs you down with paperwork, ALS hearings, trial dates, rescheduled trial dates, until the defense attorney finds out the officers off day. And said officer gets subpoenaed to court on said off day, arrives to find out defense attorney has some how found away to be needed in another court at same time in another county, and sends a reschedule request to our court. Which a course will be granted. Then the trial reschedule (yep you guessed it). Two weeks later and yep on arresting officers OFF day. Just how long before a young proactive let me get drunks off the road officer says "the hell with this". And throws in the towel. Yep you guessed it about two years into his career, if the dept. is lucky. If M.A.D.D. want's to make an impact on drinking and driving. Find away to make the system work for the cops, and get the system to stop catering to the drunks and their attorneys that defend them. Get the system to start handing out some punishment to these drunks. Now that's my last two cents..Ok maybe five..sorry.

This place is such a joke!! I cannot wait to get the hell on out of Dekalb County!!I have never seen a place where there is so much distrust and corruption!! Officer don't trust each other; and for good reason!! The greatest enemy any officer faces in Dekalb county, is his fellow officer (or SGT, LT, ETC). Dekalb County cops will throw each other under the bus faster than any perp could ever hurt you, its ridiculous, but also very sad!!

I have seen first hand how officers and/or command staff will toss another officer out to the wolves, it blows my mind!! The county needs to dissolve the county police and merge them with the SO or within smaller city units before it is too late.

Every day you remain in this ridiculous pressure cooker years are being stripped from what could be a quality life.

The court's have not complicated D.U.I. cases to this ridiculous level. It's these g.d. souless, ambulance chasing D.U.I. lawyer's. Implied conscent, uncomplicated road-side test's,officer's experience were all used to simplify arrest's. Now it requires "high speed equipment"as much paperwork as any major crime, and more legal hoop's for officer's to jump through, before the actual court hearing even takes place.(and it is continually postponed, rescheduled for month's on end,in an attempt just to hopefully "wear" the arresting officer down). There are D.U.I. attorney's constantly advertising on t.v.,specializing in reducing sentences, and getting offender's off,"scott" free! This is what the uninformed citizen's need to know. It's not the officer's. Its the system!! Maybe some "concerned" citizen will read this, contact their representative's,senator's,or the new's media. At one time, this county had one of the most successful D.U.I. Task Force Unit's in the metro area. Drunk driver's actually avoided this county. Now,like the accident in Clayton County, all the drunk driver's were from DeKalb. The state even cancelled the most effective truck inspection unit in the south-east. The majority of truck's on the road now,are unsafe pieces of sh*t,not even counting driver's under the influence of drug's. Too bad I can't be Chief. I'd straighten all this bull-shit out, with a quickness!!(lead, follow,or turn in your sh*t)! JUST GO BACK TO GOOD OLD FASHIONED,"FIRM" POLICING,LIKE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO,ANYWAY!!!!!!!

Are the most recent blue orders not being posted any longer?

So Judge Withers has complained to the chief..Holmes has issued his "directive" .. ..officers are being written up for missing court.... IF YOU WRITE WARNINGS, NO PROBLEMS..... EVEN LESS IF YOU DON'T WRITE ANY!

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:38 am..Do your job slug.. Or go home.

Judge Withers should spend less time patting herself on the back and holding press conferences every time she paints a wall in a courtroom, and spend that time fixing the many problems Recorders Court still has.

Wonder when this is coming to DeKalb? You know it will because it's the same mentality and culture there as we have here. Gotta love those do anything for a vote politicians.
