More Then 1 Million Dollars For 6 Months!

And the assigned officers are not even allowed to back others on high priority calls! Now that is a safety issue. Outrageous! Do the right thing Chief Cedric!

It's not an issue for me, probably an issue for Tucker Pct officers or Special Ops Division cause it's such a mind numbingly boring detail. Having to stand guard at the CEO detail, commission meeting, Maloof building or any of the other stupid political dog and pony shows just goes with the job. It stokes the egos of politicians and no matter how much we conplaint we will have special details at their functions. These type of stupid details happen at all departments.

As a citizen of DeKalb County, I assure you, it IS an issue for me, and I am mad as hell. How dare the Chief of Police allow his command staff to say ANYTHING to any of you when you don't pull in enough tickets, when this travesty continues to occur. How dare you, Chief, hold a public meeting with citizens who are concerned about crime, and tell them you are concerned about crime when this travesty continues to occur. That meeting should have been held in Burrell Ellis's front yard, not at Zoo Atlanta. How dare you - Burrell Ellis - claim that public service is your priority. Your actions have NOT supported that. Tell me what you HAVE done for public safety - I have a spare 5 seconds to hear it. How's tomorrow afternoon, between 1:45:15 and 1:45:20. That should be enough time, right?
Please y'all - stop calling him "Erkel" and start calling him "Pinnochio".

So when will this protection end? When he's secure in his jail cell? If not, continued protection like Secret Service provides for former Commanders In Chief? Clearly he has a delusional sense of importance. It's just silly at this point and those of you following these ridiculous orders will fall right along with him just like the ass-kissers before you.

To July 11..3:01 PM As another long time resident of DeKalb, just wanted to thank you for putting in writing so eloquently the antics of Ellis. Many, many of us within the county are just as outraged. Hope you have read the article written by Jodie Fleischer , AJC, relative to the security detail our police chief is still requiring our officers to continue in front of Ellis' house. We desperately need more officers on the street to do what they are hired to do: protect and serve..and somehow protecting another perp just doesn't fit the bill. Just saying....

Anonymous said...

Doesn't new Chief know he'll be gone soon as Ellis is? No one is going to keep him in place after he supported this garbage.

Anonymous said...

Look at the bright side, tax payers! We haven't gotten raises in the last 7 years. Imagine how much more it could be costing you if the county actually cared about its public safety employees!

Anonymous said...

Do not question your superiors, do your job and show up on time and just be glad you have a job. Do what the chief tells you and stop bitching! If you don't like it quit! You have a duty to serve and protect! Now do that and shut your mouth and do as I say!

The second, no the millisecond charges were brought against him Officers should have been pulled. Sense when is it in the job description of a Police Officer to guard a suspect under criminal indictment? Love to hear your answer Chief. We know you or your puppets monitor this blog. So how bout it?? Is there really any way you can justify this action? Yea, I can hear you saying right now. I don't have to justify anything to anyone. Well I guess your right you don't but in my eye's this makes you look pretty bad. By the way how do you see this playing out if he is convicted and goes bye-bye. You think the new boss in charge of DKPD is going to keep you around? Seems to me the new guy or gal would want someone who can make good decisions on how best to utilize manpower in an already undermanned department, and how best to use resources that cost tax payers hard earned monies. Seems to me an intelligent and educated man which you clam to be would be rethinking and realigning his alliances. You know with the powers to be, JUST in case. Just saying, stand for something or you will fall for anything.

I think ILP should sit on the CEO's house. They are useless anyway.

Anonymous said...

Hey chief, do you still think Ellis is an honest man?

Thank You Channel 2!!!
To bad you could not say that those officers can not even leave to take a bathroom break...because if they leave....Erickle 21s the Major,Capt., Lt.....you get what I'm saying...I wish they could have got a picture of the officer urinating on his fence since they can't leave!!!LMAO...

As I said before...thanks to the officers outside my house!!..I sleep much better at night..Txs again

Anonymous said...

Citizen here again - is it really true that the officers guarding his house can't leave to take a bathroom break? If so, Ellis disgusts me even MORE. Please someone report the truth on that. I could almost get over having the security detail, but that I cannot. I wouldn't do that to a dog. If it's true, this character trait needs to be public.

God forbid something happens within a mile of Erkle's house and a Officer need back-up. Do that Officer leave Erkle house to help?

Erkle is just like a drug dealer who's cries when he get caught. DO THE CRIME YOU GON DO THE TIME.

To July 11..6:31. There IS no bright side of to all of this that continues to go on ..if taxes went up because you officers finally got the raises you all are so deserving of, then that would definitely fall in the category of "bright side". We would have a lot happier patrol staff and maybe then you all would finally believe that we, the taxpayers in this county, really do appreciate and respect you all for the job that you do.

Anonymous said...

To the "bright side" poster at 1230 am

Sounds like you are a tax paying citizen of DeKalb. Why dont you and your neighbors ask those elected to run Dekalb if all the money collected under the "police services" tax on your property tax bill actually goes to the police dept ?

I can assure you that it does not. If it did, we would have had raises (and other things we need)years ago when the tax line for police services appeared about 3 years ago. There are also many job slots for police that are budgeted for that have gone unfilled FOR YEARS. Where has the money allocated for those positions gone ? You also have people leaving here in droves. Where is all that "saved" money going ?

The leaders of the county dont give a rat's ass about PD or Fire. If they did, we would at least have had a raise by now. The commissioners and CEO like to talk about us and have us around as props when they are speaking to the morons that support them...Morons?, oh excuse me, the low information voters that voted for them.

SERENITY NOW

It seems that the new police chief has become a real New York schmuck.

This is a person who is under the assumption that his shit doesn't stink, but it does.

Where does he come off, taking taxpayers money, guarding an indicted thug such as BE.

BE should be suspended for starters, and taking all that manpower away from doing their real jobs is truly a waste,

Giving a corrupt CEO police protection is like guarding a rabid animal from the public.

So Chief, hopefully some kind of idea will sink into you head and remove all those officers, and put them back on the streets of this county for which they were hired to do so, and not baby sit a jerk CEO.

Anonymous said...

Burgess would be a better chief dead then all the other ones put together since he left. What happened to county policy of not associating with those of questionable character? They must have changed that when Ellis and Bolton boarded the ship.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:45am,

The Chief isn't from NY, idiot. He just spent time working there.

If you were told to sit on the CEO's house, would you refuse? Would you say, "no," or would you do what your boss told you to do? Unless you're an idiot, which I suspect you are, you would obey the lawful order from your supervisor and go sit in front of the CEO's house. That's exactly what the new Chief is doing. He has no choice. He has to do exactly what he is told by the guy who signs his pay check and your paycheck. He won't be that guy for long though.

Anonymous said...

Who's running the show here, officers or supervisors?

Anonymous said...

Give the Chief some time.. He has only been here since April. Rome was not built over night.

Anonymous said...

So the commanders started calling all police personnel yesterday, about an hour into jury deliberations, to place all off duty officers on-call in case of civil unrest. An hour into deliberations!! Everyone knew deliberations would start sometime Friday, but these idiots wait until the last minute to come up with some type of plan. Does anyone out there still doubt that this is the most mismanaged police department in the nation?

Anonymous said...

What is truly funny is that this story talks only about the police officer that is camped out in from of the CEO's house. It makes no mention of the TEAM of officers assigned to follow the CEO around every day.

Anonymous said...

This county needs a good riot. Burn the whole thing down to the ground and start over.

Anonymous said...

Suppose command staff should start reading this blog. Someone asked days ago what the Trayvon Martin case plan was in case of rioting.

8:38am,

I don't think I know everything. I just pointed out that before you bad mouth people, make sure you know what you're talking about. It's funny to me you referred to the Chief as a "NY schmuck." Did you catch the latest state to state rankings of schools? Out of 50 states and the District of Columbia, Georgia schools ranked 51. That's right, dead last! Georgia schools have the lowest standards and poorest performance on standardized tests of any state! Who are to turn your nose up to anyone from another state? Maybe you could learn something from people who value education and don't wear their ignorance as a badge of honor. Maybe you should stop thinking you're so smart and know everything, because the evidence would suggest otherwise.

Yes it is true.....we can not leave for a bathroom break....You will say....Have a unit 83 you for 10 minutes or so.....we can't..because Tucker is backed up 30 or so calls so they can't send anyone....you'll say..get SOD unit out there........and the response is....if they can break away from another detail...we will get you one......

I heard from the guys over in SOD that...

When the "Meet the Chief" was going around....we asked him to get a Port-a Potty out there...even behind the CEO's house..(large privacy fence...large bushes to cover it up).....you know what the "New Chief said"???...get a younger officer out there who can control his bladder better!!!

Do you one better.......1600 hrs the CEO comes home and finds his back gate open....he walks up and knocks on the officers window.."My back gate is open,,,Will you go check my back yard???".....I was told that when the offier got out and went to investigate....the CEO remembered that he had work done out back.....A so-called grown man...wanted his back yard....day light hours.....to go check out the back yard.......my hats off you to all over in Special Ops....

Last question????....is the "New Chief"....Ga. Post Certified????...if not....why is he in this position...and how long does he have to be certified.....or does the chief of police school secert de-coder ring allow you to by-pass this process????

Well sports fan....I'll close by asking you this....."It's not what we can do for the county..(after 20+ years....it's what is the county going to do to help the rest of its working force/back bone for us????

That's what I thought....not a damn thing......except...go ahead and say it....."be glad you have a job"..."shut up/show up and do your thing"....

Well....as we close....the chief is not going to do anything.....the BOC is not going to do anything.......it is "US"...that need to do something and attend the BOC meetings and do something!!!!

Until then???...cherp...cherp....listen to the crickets and continue to complain like I did ...behind the screen.....

OLD VETERAN....just doing my time!

The chief can say Mr. CEO that is an unlawful order and I am sure as soon as he has another job lined up he will. That is if he is a real cop! He can justifiy it, it has to do with what he said in the AJC article. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/crime-law/residents-crime-perception-based-on-painful-fact/nYpPg/ Let the surge begin with 26 officers not 25.

: WSB-TV Alert: BREAKING: Panel recommends suspension of DeKalb CEO. Update on Ch 2 at 4 http://bit.ly/18h3Po1

Anonymous said...

Panel at Attny Gen Office just voted to suspend Ellis from CEO duties so are we STILL going to provide protection to a felon?

Anonymous said...

It's not an unlawful order. A Grand Jury looked into Vernon's extravagant security detail and found it wasn't illegal. It was wasteful and immoral, but not illegal. True, the chief could simply refuse, but why? Ellis won't be around much longer.

Anonymous said...

I just noticed that the panel suggesting suspending Ellis while he fights the charges. Told you he wouldn't be around for long!

Anonymous said...

Please Governor Deal, please follow the recommendation of your special appointed panel and suspend this felony-indicted and corrupt politician, Burrell Ellis, from our leadership. And Mr. James, hurry, if you can, and prosecute him.

Anonymous said...

The CEO is simply another symptom of a corrupt county govt and broken form of "CEO" style govt which no other county in this state uses. .

The day he is suspended as CEO if the protection doesn't stop the union needs to file a law suit to force the chief to stop.

The Dekalb PD union has always been pretty flimsy since they have no collective bargaining, but a lawsuit would say something to the chief and the county if the BS protection continues.

If you all recall, Fulton Co PD has to provide regular drivers and protection to most of the democrat commissioners and it took a lawsuit and a new city to stop that BS.

Lone Ranger said...

As I've stated previously, the problem lies directly on the backs of every officer in this department. Month after month the BOC holds their public meetings and never, ever do you see the most affected employees of Dekalb County, FIRE, & PD, standing before them to let them hear of the injustice.....instead you all load up everyday and just ride off into the sunset and then bitch because nothing is coming your way.......WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS RIDE YOU ASSES OVER TO DECATUR AND STAND FREAKIN UNITED FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES!!!

I'm there at every meeting and everytime I tell Tonto

...the Posse is not coming, AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Bye Bye Burrell! POS!

Thanks to Governor Deal!

Come on Mr. James, you win this case and you got our vote for State Attorney General or Senator. This victory would make World News, so lets knock this out of the park.

The officer that place those cuffs on Burrell, please squeeze the cuffs on the wrist bone.

Anonymous said...

don't thank governor deal yet - the panel recommended suspension, but the governor could override that decision.

on the other issue - I have no respect for a chief of police who would allow his officers to be treated like that. shame on Georgia for allowing employers to get away with treating employees with such disrespect. it's disgusting, and makes me hope ellis goes down HARD. He has established residence in the same swamp as Vernon Jones.
