Thanks to DKPD, Dekalb Sherriff Dept, Dekalb School Police, K-9's, DA's Office, and all the other law enforcement agencies, for a job well done.

Forget all the negative bloggers, when it comes to getting the job done, my money is on Dekalb Police.

We may be the lowest paid officers with SHITTY higher ups, but when it come to the safety of the community we stand as ONE.

“We were dern lucky we didn’t have anyone killed in the school."

That's classic. I'm going to start talking to the media like that.

Great job indeed but Chief Alexander, please be advised you are the Chief of DeKalb Police Georgia, NOT Florida! how embarrassing. See http://www.wsbradio.com/videos/news/dekalb-police-chief-speaks-on-mcnair-shooting/v9YG2/ for the clip

"THIS IS A AK-47. THE PREFERRED WEAPON OF OUR ENEMIES. IT MAKES A VERY DISTINCT SOUND WHEN BEING FIRED AT YOU".(Gunny Highway). Bravo zulu! Sh*t hot job!! One of the "gutsiest" things that has happened around metro Atl,for a long, long, time. No initial SWAT,S.O.,GSP,GBI or other responding agencies. Dekalb P.D.detectives were the first to go 10-7,and uniform officers were their in a heart-beat. Those detectives/uniform officers have "mucho cajones",for their actions as "first responders".If that 22 would have been "really hard- core",it would have been a slaughter, for not only the school children and staff, but for all the officers as well. Getting hit with one of those weapons is like hitting a peach with a golf club/ driver.Your vest, ballistic helmets, block walls, even your unit, will not protect you.(there "aint" no minor wounds with a AK-47 round). OUT-FU*CKING-STANDING JOB. Hey,to all you naysayers, both departmental and public, KISS OUR ASS!! There are still some of the best police officers around working at this department!! Dekalb is still a kick ass/take name department, regardless of all the other bull-shit going on. If this doesn't fire you up,and give you bragging rights, then their is something "bad wrong" with you!!!!

So proud of EVERYONE involved in this crazy situation. This just goes to show that when the shit hit the fan, we pull together and get the job done. So glad everyone is safe.I am honored to be a part of such skilled, professional and honorable men and women that handled this situation.#DKPDFORLIFE

Did anyone else notice that Chief Alexander seemed to keep nudgeing the DeKalb Schools Chief out of the camera shot?

Anonymous said...

Really people? Everyone came together yesterday and did an outstanding job. Noone was hurt and the suspect caught yet you still find something to complain about. How about "outstanding" job to all involved and go about your day. Is that too hard around here?

Was the AK one of the ones taken off the train?

No raise in years....less being taken home.... BS for leadership... but, every officer, deputy, etc.... responded!

Ref. to Dekalb Co. Florida slip.....Give the man a break.....You people continue to amaze me with your negative comments. I rarely look at this blog anymore but whenever I do, I see the same o'l crap. You people must be miserable and yet you stick around. Hey, when life throws you lemons, make lemonade Jack!

As for the chiefs POST certification, an open records request has already been sent to POST. We will know shortly.

You guys have GOT to be kidding me!! This guy articulated himself through a full interview better than any Chief or Interim Chief has EVER done in over 2 decades and all you can elaborate on is him inadvertently saying Florida...unbelievable...you guys have no credibility at all!

To the officers at the scene as well as at the Walmart, JOB WELL DONE! This is the time to rally and take back the county streets!
Let's stay in the positive light!

Why was Chief Alexander inside the school before it was cleared? This guys really has no clue!!

Good Job DKPD!!!!!!! Now let me say a word or two while I sip on my 40oz. When Rock On OB was here doing nothing I didn't hear one word from you Some Bitches, not a word. At least we have a guy that's trying to make some moves and you cry babies still have nothing good to say. You fuckers act like you have never made a mistake, if mistaking Georgia for Florida is the only thing you can say about the chief then he's doing good in my book. Hell the people in Florida would love to be compared to Georgia, they can't count or understand common sense laws in that state.

Here is the Dekalb County Special Gand Jury Report. http://www.ajc.com/documents/2013/aug/21/document-dekalb-special-grand-jury-report/

To anon 9:56 Thanks for the link, I wondered why everyone kept telling me DeKalb County Florida.

Check this link out: www.ajc.com/documents/2013/aug21/document-dekalb-special-grand-jury-report/
On page 15 there is a blistering statement in regards to Director Miller and Deputy Chief Lane-Woodard's testimony before the Grand Jury.
The report is a very interesting read. Too bad it had to come out today, we were looking pretty good on the news.

there is lots more bad stuff to say about our new "Chief" than him not knowing what state he is in. On camera, he is Mr. Personality. Behind the scenes at his office at the glass palace, he treats his employees like crap. seriously. Oh and I will never forget when he stood us up at tucker precinct for his "meet and greet" and never even apologized or explained it to us. Officer NOT IMPRESSED here.

As a citizen, I was so proud of all of you. Thank you for everything you do every day. I just can't say enough. My deepest respect and admiration.

The true hero was the school receptionist Ms. Tuft saved some lives including the perp. Not Thomas Brown, Michael Thurmond, Ron Ramsey, and other politicians who wanted to be seen and heard on national T.V.

As a LEO (non DeKalb) with over 20 years, I heard the 911 call from the lady at the school who was with the gunman. This lady did a remarkable job in getting the gunman to give up. You can hear DKPD in the background as the rush in and subdue the perp. Good job to all LEO that were there and special kudos to Ms. Tuff, the school office lady. This could have been another Sandy Hook.

THIS 10-20 CONFUSION DOES NOT TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM THE OUTSTANDING JOB PERFORMED BY ALL! Buuuttt--Florida? Georgia? It could happen! They both have 6 letters. Why hell,he could just as easily have said: Alabama,New York,Wyoming,Montana,Arizona. There really is a Dekalb,Illinois.(no shit)! Maybe he was stressed out,or dazed and confused,or just really excited.(maybe he has a job offer in Florida, and simply had a Freudian slip, like the Wicked Witch Sniderman had. It was kind of like The Wheel Of Fortune game show: "Uh,lets see.All the vowels that I need are there. Uh,hmmm,ah-ha!!I want to solve the name of the state. IT'S----FLORIDA!! Aaaannnt, wrong answer! Sorry Chief Alexander, the correct answer is GEORGIA!! I actually thought it was impossible for anybody here to embarrass themselves on the news media worse than Tom Brown:"We are losing way to many officers due to nutrition". "We have to stop all these young black folks from conjugating on these corners". "We all have to be extra careful, because all these guns have hairline triggers". It's like the strawman,in the Wizard of Oz,"If I only had a brain". 10-12 for a land lot---All unit's, follow the yellow brick road, follow the yellow brick road. Just keep laughing! It help's. Really!!!

Did you read the special grand jury report, where they go into the reasons for eliminating the directors position? No, obviously not. The report states that the position hindered the Chief (O'B) from doing his job. So that's why O'B did nothing, he couldn't because of the director.

To anonymous 8-22 @630am. Get your facts straight. The chief did apologize and explain himself in the second meeting at tucker. Guess you weren't there.

hell no I wasn't there after he stood us up the first time. He don't get a second chance with me.

GOOD JOB KENDRA!!!!!!

old warhorse 7:31 PM You are too funny! Had to be just a "simple slip of the tongue". Nutrition, conjugating, hairline triggers: what a hoot. No surprise here. You rule, old warhorse, keep up the good work!
