What's Chief Cedric Waiting On?

It has been over a week since Assistant Chief Lane-Woodward was named publicly by a special grand jury of being so much as a liar and co-conspirator in obstruction of justice.

The grand jury findings were on January 20, 2013. 7 months later, she is in her same position. If she were common rank and file, she would at least be on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

A special grand jury has accused her of a felony violation. Yet?

It appears Burrell's criminal corrupt tentacles have a firm grip on Chief Cedric. What other explanation is there? Was the condition of hiring the chief, that he be given a slice of the pie?

Is our police department really this corrupt? Does it ever end? Can't one honest person step up and scream ENOUGH!?

The person corrupt is you for trying to get something started. This craziness never stop. Give it up and do something productive as oppose to trying to bring one of our own down. This is hilarious, everybody know who you are. It's just a matter of time before you and your cronies are exposed!!!!

Chief Al will not take his own down, Watershed will not take their own down, Parks will not take their own down, Planning will not take their own down, and Purchasing will not take their own down.

Law enforcement will take them all down. About 7,205 Dekalb Employees and more than half are corrupt.
TAKE DOWN THE WEAKEST EMPLOYEE IN EACH DEPARTMENT AND HE/or SHE WILL SING LIKE A BIRD. BECAUSE THEY ALL WORK TOGETHER TO STEAL.

Anon 4:23PM, you must be one of those females in her little posse that she always takes care of when it comes to promotions and specialized positions. She needs to go! The grand jury figured out what the rest of us have known for a long time. She's incompetent and a liar.

The ones that have screamed "ENOUGH" ceased to progress in their careers and were eventually forced out.

If you turn a blind eye to corruption of which you have knowledge. Then you are are not the solution you are part of the problem (badge or no badge). I would think that if your conduct warranted honorable mention by name in a Grand Jury report......Then that should be a clue, and should warrant a closer look by someone in a position of authority. Or at least that person in authority should give said authority to someone to conduct that investigation..Momma always said "stand for something or you will fall for anything".

Thank you for your comment Chief, I mean anon 4:23

Sounds like our "friends" in IA need to investigate an officer who is/may be guilty of being untruthful.

Here's a case that seems pretty obvious....and very public.

Who is preventing THIS from moving forward?

Anonymous said...

One precinct has teams concept...which does not work .
The other precincts works on rotation which increase manpower. The city of Lakeside is watching the trials.
We do not address the call volume because of teams in the purpose cities.

Anon 4:23PM, you really didn't mean to hit enter on your keyboard after typing that comment did you?
If you did well, the person(s) that started something name(s)is listed on pages 54-58 of the GJ report. The craziness never stops because people like you refuse to believe that it exists.
Your sentence about "bring down one of our own" reinforces my previous point. And it leads me to believe you are a cop as well. If you are, then it's sad you don't understand that what happened was WRONG!
In reference to the exposed comment. Exposed for what? Voicing an opinion based off facts? Telling the truth? If they are exposed, I bet it will not be exposed on a GJ report.
Anon 4:23PM, continue to Be Safe and WAKE UP!

I would assume that anon 423 is definately in chief lane woddard williams clique. If you read how she writes you can almost hear her saying it.

Its, "This craziness never stops not stop" Its, everybody KNOWS who you are, not know who you are.

Then again ghetto grammer is accepted I suppose.

The FIRST thing any successful municipality does is empower its police department with equipment, personnel, and support to thrive and be effective in enforcing laws. This county has done just the opposite for decades now and forced annexation at every turn. It is much too late now for DeKalb Co. and it is being taken off life support as we speak. I feel for those who have stuck it out here this long but you now must think of YOUR future. This is truly a sad ending to such a once great county. Let this be a lesson however of what ultimately happens when you simply follow orders of the corrupt, you've no one to blame but yourself.

For you idiots waiting to fall on the sword for Ellis, standby, your opportunity is rapidly approaching.

She has shit on a lot of people....de-mote her..let her answer calls and see how she gets treated by the real troops!!!

What she's doing is not related to her job discription!

The unfortunate reality to all of this has been that this blog has only added to the already over burdened problems the county has. Everyone coming on here and spewing their dirty laundry for all to hear is not productive.

The Dekalb Officers Speak blog has become a cancer to all Dekalb Officer's. It's usefulness has well run it's course and is doing nothing now but hurting this county and all of it's employees.

The time has come for all to end this backstabbing bickering and try to rebuild our department and the county gov't instead of trying to tear down a once great place to live, work & play. It's time for us to take back our community and stop throwing gasoline on this fire we call a "BLOG".

Thank you,
A 20+ yr Veteran

I concur 1259, I find it funny that ONE precinct (Center)has started the team concept again which decreases manpower no matter what you do with it. Within the precinct there are FOUR new cities in the works (Tucker, Druid Hills,Lakeside,Briarcliff). You would think someone would look at going back to rotating days adding 4-5 more Officers every day to increase Police protection so that the new cities would see more units, but this idea would just make too much sense for DKPD. Its ok though, I will just let the calls pend for me and handle one at a time and watch the precinct become smaller and smaller until its gone.

Long weekend, what will Chief Ced do? I think Chief feel he can't go against the grain and Erkle is the grain.

How can you betray the person who hired you and you both know you weren't qualified too make $170,000 per year with perks? I give it by the end of the year, the Chief will step-up, separate, and do the right thing.

What a fuckin mess. Everyone is accusing everyone else, finger pointing is no end, and with so many chips in the corrupt game, this whole mess is like Guam as it is going to tip over........What is next?

Lane-Woodard-Williams (she changes every year), Holmes, Wiz, V. Logan, Durrett, Franks,Curtis Williams and the list goes on, ALL RUN together and have disgraced DeKalb County...are all cancers to the DKPD badge. This corruption was brought to powers that be, over 5 years and YES the investigations were put to a halt b\c they were involved directly and indirectly...this is the result of incompetent, power hungry, greedy persons in power. Good officers have been run off because they wanted to do what was right, but were put on the black list becasue they decided to uphold the honor of the badge. How can they when those mentioned above and others are corrupted and use their power to condemn, write them up for bs and remove them from rank, pay and special assignments?....I'm glad it's finally going down...I hope that the FEDS also step in and give these folks who ruined careers of others and lost the citizen's trust of this County, some REAL time...

Anonymous said...

If the chief was going to do the right thing, he would already have done it. Just so typical and blatant.

There is no hope.

Ok 20+ year vet, I agree the blog should stop, after the county stops the BS it has been giving us. Maybe in your "everything is alright" world, the blog is unnecessary. Also, this "we" attitude you got is funny. The time I was with Dekalb there was a sort of "we". Now there is a very apparent I.

Talk is cheap.... I've heard a lot of talk and seen nothing.... examples:

1. the only new cars I've seen were being driven by majors and the command staff....

2. I hear about a raise and/or a bonus but, no hard dates.....

3. North precinct officers will used to fill in the holes in manpower... all I've seen are the same number answering calls...with more on special or assigned to NET/ILP etc.

Lots of talk about Change... I wasn't happy with the "change" our president delivered but I'll give him credit... he delivered change.

something off the topic .

So last week at Center we (road Officers) were approached by Sgt's who informed us that from now on we were to bring in two tickets a day or face getting our part time jobs taken away. They said it wasn't a quota but do it or else... Getting two tickets a day is not hard but what I don't understand is isn't there a better way of approaching your road Officers who haven't seen a raise in over 7 years than threatening them with their part time jobs. We were told this came down from the Chief's office and will be strictly enforced. Again 2 tickets a day is not hard and yes we do have some slackers who park behind a church waiting on a call but still, making threats just made me not want to get any.

Anonymous said...

The team concept at Center does not create a man-power shortage. The shortage is created because there are 2 NET teams not answering calls, and a team on special all day on Wednesdays writing tickets.

This place is too stupid to realize that cities are incorporating because of our slow response time to calls, not because of a decrease in tickets, which seems to be a concern of the chief. Then he takes more officers off the road for this useless ILP unit.

The team concept is a morale booster, and its the only thing we can give the officers. The chief's man concern should be responding to these calls as quickly as we can, as opposed to how many tickets were written.

Anonymous said...

The push on tickets, coming straight from Decatur. BOC wants there revenue coming in so they can keep lining their pockets. Chief is still working for the man and NOT running the dept., hey got a great idea. Do away with his position, give BOC all the Major's phone numbers. That way when they want something done they can call direct line to Majors and tell um what they want.
After all we have no leadership other than the pullers of the purse strings "Decatur". Sorry but until I see a firm stance made and someone tells the NON Police asses in Decatur to get their nose out of Police business. Nothing will change and DKPD is finished....Not sure it can be saved now. Too late.

Anonymous said...

Anon 6:47pm,
You are correct. How can you have over 30 officers working and still have calls pending? Its because 75% of those officers are on special details. The main complaint at these community meetings is police response time, not how many tickets are being written by our local precinct. Im all for special details, blitzes, etc. However, there is a time and place for it. Handling calls promptly should come first. Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that this is the most mismanaged police department in America?

Anonymous said...

This "BLOG" is the best thing that ever happened for the rank and file police officer at DKPD. Before that we have NEVER had a voice in anything. If the prosecuters had been watching this blog they could have seen clearly what is going on here. Thanks to the blog master and keep up the good work.

Say what you want, but this chief interviews well. All the former chief's always weighed the liability issues before coming straight out and defending the officer's actions. Trust me,I have been thrown under the bus by Hand,Burgess,Moody and their ilk. I almost went to federal prison because of Hand's "perjuring" ass! Chief Alexander makes it glaringly obvious that the officer(s)did the best they could under the circumstances. Yesterday's shooting has made that very clear.
I have dogged him about many things, but this attribute is worthy of a "break" for a while. I don't have a dog in this fight anymore, but you are better off with this chief, than with all the others. You are far better off with this guy in your corner. TRUST ME !!!!

Anonymous said...

OWH.... don't know you but, I'd trust you long before I'd trust the brass at DKPD and the Monday morning quarterbacks in IA who haven't seen the road in years.

Anonymous said...

Yes it is refreshing to have support for a change. Even though this incident doesn't follow our use of force continuum, police work isn't a lab and things happen. Glad someone finally acknowledges that publicly.

Anonymous said...

well what is that guy in the corner doing for us?

The last raise I had was in 2005 so I say again, what is that guy in the corner doing for us? is he going to the BOC meetins and telling them that everyone is quiting because of pay issues? Sure the fake interm CEO has mentioned a one time 3 percent raise. Ok so we all get a check for $1,000.00 after taxes that does nothing for us long term, that does nothing to keep people here

No street officer adhere"s to the old use of force continium anymore. Thats just fluff and stuff for the j-2. It's officer perception. God forbid we are still going by the U.F.C.,or are still teaching it,but liability is still liability. You live/die by split decisions in this job,and "you alway's have to be right. ALMOST RIGHT IS STILL WRONG !! This job is more dangerous and stressful than it has ever been, and it's steadily getting worse everyday. Remember the old a.o.j+p. Does the perp have the "ability" to hurt you? Does the perp have the "opportunity" to hurt you? Does the officer feel like he/she is in "jeopardy"? What is the officer's "perception" of the threat level at this moment? You can't teach this. It only is learned through experience!! THIS IS FOR ALL YOU NON-POLICE FOLK"S,TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THIS JOB .

To anon 3:03 and 1:29
Where do you two work in CID, because I want your job. Try working the road with calls backed up and your going from call to call and still trying to write a few tickets to keep the sgt off your ass. I want a take home car and the opportunity to try a different aspect of this job. You two obviously don't appreciate all that you have. I spend over $150 a month just on gas coming to work and vehicle maintenance on top of that and I guarantee you that you are saving more than me. Heck, I got to drive my personal car to my extra jobs. You get to drive your CID car. Sounds to me that you two are just taking up space in CID, so why don't the two of you put in to come back to the road, so that others like me are given an opportunity to come to CID. I'll work 5 days a week if I have to, I don't mind the sacrifice. It sure beats slinging calls all day.

The Police department corruption is peanuts compared to the entire Building dept. If you find me two honest employees in the building department I will give you $100. There's no way management is not aware of corruption in any dept but they turn a blind-eye because their pockets are getting lined too.

Business license employees, zoning employees, and permit employees will have a nice holiday with all those kick-backs. To make it so bad these employees are not SMART but they can out smart the DA's office and Police.

2:11 has a point..... I don't remember seeing the new chief on the news screaming at the top of his lungs at a BOC meeting ..... can't say I've seen video of him at one at all.

owh said...

anom 10:21. Don't know what to tell you. This chief is not going to run around doing anything for you. Name one who has! If you are looking for a chief that will go
to the commisioner's meetings and throw himself prostrate on the floor for money to keep officers from quitting,IT JUST AINT GONNA HAPPEN!! The Pope couldn't get us a pay-raise,because there isn't any money. The commissioner's dont care, and can't do anything if they did. This county has been, and will always be financially mismanaged by Decatur. This county is exactly like a poor person pretending to be rich,in front of other people. Any "new boss" taking over any troubled organization has fiscal and managerial priorities. If this chief hasn't corrected the obvious management problems here, the fiscal outlook is doomed. (Lane/Holmes are prime examples)! If every county employee went to the commissioners meeting and had mass protests, nothing positive would happen. There is no money. Unless there is embezzling or just plain stealing,it's not against the law to be a bad/incompetent manager. Their train of thought is probably,"Well,we are going to have to lay off people anyway,so all these folks voluntarily leaving is solving the problem for us. This problem will correct itself". Unfortunately, this is like the Titanic sinking, the chief handing out buckets to bail this sinking ship out, while he and the commisioner's are being lowered in the lifeboat!! Trust me. Before it gets totally unsalvageable,he will resign, take his fat pension, and move on,just like any other "corporate raider"! Sadly, you are on your own! I know how bad you really need the money. Been there, living that !!!!!!!!!!!!
