O.M.G.. The movie crew filming Dumb and Dumber had their ga-zillion dollar camera stolen out of their van,at the I.H.O.P. in Chamblee. One of our multi/probation "Buddy's", strikes again !! If they are going to attempt to film anything in this county again, they should call it "DOUBLE-DUMBER THAN SH*T"!

GO GET TRAINED, GO GET TRAINED

Funny...not so much.

Speaking of the chief, it sure seams that he has been skipping town on the weekend an awful lot recently. Kind of reminds me of another chief that we had not to long ago.

Anonymous said...

ok blog guy. your not not just beating a dead horse, you have emptied all 45 rounds into it. We are crystal clear. You hate the Chief, and you hate Captain Williams, formerly Chief Williams. Its fine you wont post my comments, but next topic please.

Anonymous said...

Dont forget to post one in gray and black also. Us lowly MPOs and below feel left out with the new patch only shown in gold

Anonymous said...

Hey who are you kidding, you MPO's, POII's & POI's are not good enough to get to wear the official patch of the Dekalb County Police Dept. GET USE TO IT!!!!So stop crying about it.

Bunch of crying ass grown men & women. Don't you know its not enough that we have a Gold Badge, but we can't let you subordinate officers walk around wearing a patch that looks like ours. Just who the hell do you think you guys are. The next thing is you'll want my assigned parking space or a parking space with your name on it....give me a break. Like that is gonna happen!!

Anonymous said...

Patches? We don't need no stinkin patches!

Anonymous said...

Oh nooo -- not ANOTHER patch change! I still am waiting for the $100 alteration reimbursement from last time!

Anonymous said...

I swear if these will actually be made Im a starting bidder on EBAY at $10 a piece. Not only that I promise you I will put it on all my uniforms. Come on blogmaster you know you could use some extra income!

One thing Alexander knows much about is Swagger. This guy would give Vernon Jones a run for his money as to who is the most self absorbed arrogant know it all.
Does anyone know if Alexander is actually a POST certified police officer? People have told me that he is not but I don't see how that is possible.

Watch what ya say...It's very possible that if you are an officer with less than 10 yrs service you will get what ever you ask for. The administration is so focused on keeping them HAPPY they get anything they whinnnnn for...Veterens officers, ya know the ones that have stuck around and paid their dues. They are the ones that get screwed over....Yea administrators think that if they keep um happy they will stay around and accept NO pay raises, and increased benefit contributions, etc, etc, etc...Not gonna happen guys they will fly the coup soon as they get vested....if not sooner.

Speaking of confirmation can anyone confirm that Center precinct officers are asking fr 'Mental Health Days" WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

201Time to let the "swagger" thing go for a while. I admit,I got a chuckle out of it,like everybody else. But,like the Florida "fo-pah"(best guess on spelling),it has pretty much run it's course. Proper vocab/useage? Probably not. Intent? A little cheer-leading attempt of encouragement,to tell you it "ain't" the end of the world! Look up Mr. Webster's definition: Swagger; To walk with an air of conspicious self satisfaction and usually of masculine vanity. A swaggering gait or manner. Self assurance. Verve,dash,bravado.-- It could have been a lot worse, like cocky or arrogant. That will either get you killed,or get your ass beat! Show me a young officer,a motor-officer,or a SWAT officer that does not "swagger",or at least fakes it! We all have a "sh*t-load" of way bigger fish to fry than to keep sweating little bull-sh*t like this! I thought the designer of the "patch" was not only artistic, but innovative as well! Gave everybody a desperately needed laugh, and distraction for a while. Now we have yet "another turd" in the punch bowl, with an "alleged" child molester in our midst! You can't even begin to explain this stuff away, because, unfortunately,we are all painted with the same broad brush. Instead of everybody longing for the demise of our once great department,we need to rebuild and reclaim OUR department, one officer/one contact at a time. Like it/don't like it. Agree/disagree. Just deal with it! Like the old saying goes, "YOU CAN'T CONQUER OR DEFEAT YOUR DEMON'S,OR THE ONE'S YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY. ALL YOU CAN DO IS CONFRONT THEM EVERYDAY". It takes a lot of balls to come to work everyday, and go out there in the badlands. I can't speak for anybody else, but you can bet your ass you have always had,and will always have my respect!!

Chief , please don't let your command staff convince you to put your troops on 5/2, they are setting you up, it is killing morale , ruin marriages and destroying families plus detectives are over worked and exhausted. HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!! please 4/3 please Sir.

Funny, but the readers are losing interest.

"Fo - pah" is spelled faux pas and means : blunder; especially : a social blunder

Anonymous said...

An alternate meaning for swagger is : a self-confident outlook : cockiness

No longer Curious said...

Curious Bob, your answer is yes officers now conduct a secondary roll call. During this roll call one of Centers illustrious officers began whinning about vacation time.
She then asked Captain Newton, in lieu of vaction time maybe the county can give out "Mental Health Days".
Sounds like someone needs their 13 free visits.

old warhorse said...

It was a kid,but thanx! "Faux pas". 10-4. Hey,if you know anybody that's looking for a vintage WW-2 French rifle, let me know. It's in great shape,NEVER FIRED/ONLY DROPPED ONCE. Bada boom(rim shot).

Did someone say we are top heavy in leadership?

Anonymous said...

10:03.... good point....lol...top heavy in white shirts that create additional specialized units that do nothing to decrease call response time or increase officer safety. Leadership has all but "Left the house."

Anonymous said...

Naaaa, nobody said we top heavy....THE study ain't been done yet....not the new waste of money, I mean study...

5/2 is rough, helpp

Anonymous said...

5/2 is especially rough on the homicide/robbery (commercial and pedestrian) detectives working evening watch because they have no idea when they are going to actually go home. On paper 10-42 is 2300, but they stay long past that many nights. Factor in on call time, court time, etc and it's basically impossible yo have a life outside of the 5-2 schedule. The weekends are basically the only time to do menial things that can not be accomplished during the week.
Everyone was against the 5-2 and made their voices very clear when asked, but those opinions fell on deaf ears. When your troops are almost unanimously against something and you say "screw you we're doing it anyway" expect a drop in morale and productivity. AND PRODUCTIVITY. See the emphasis? It is a well known fact that overworked and exhausted employees will burn out and perform worse in the long run. It will also make finding candidates for CID harder in the future. Why would anyone want to sacrifice an extra day off for nothing but an increased workload and an uncertain schedule in return? "It's not for everyone" has always been true and will now be a more evident truth.
We'll see what happens.

Anonymous said...

We are losing more than we are hiring and they keep taking and not replacing the officers. Then they keep promoting and they say we have too many supervisors. If we knew this in the year 2000, how many of us would have left for better places.
I wonder what kind of promises they are making to the new recruits?

Curious Mind.... said...

Things that don't make sense.

Riddle me this.... a while back, sergeants in admin positions were returned to the road and an MPO filled the position because it didn't make sense to have a sergeant filling that role.... now the MPO's are back on the road and the admin position is filled by a lieutenant.

What has changed?... IMHO...this position should be a civilian position....not a sworn officer who the county spent money to train, carry a gun, and wear a badge. Why does an admin person need arrest powers?

Anonymous said...

5/2 is absolutely exhausting. I used to have one day to calm my nerves from dealing with the worst that society has to offer all week for that first day off. The next two reverted back to being and thinking like a human. Spending time and seeing goodness with normal people was a godsend. Now I have one day a week were my cynical mind doesn't consume every thought I have. My relationships are suffering, my family is feeling the pain. I feel like those who make decisions haven't had to be in the trenches for a very long time, especially because they ignored every single CID detective's opinion on the matter. God help us all.

Anonymous said...

I certainly hope you choose your family over some crappy job before you end up on the news from some outburst in a fast food drive-thru.

Anonymous said...

You are complaining you need 3 days off but work part time jobs 7 days a week. Quit turd. The first job is DeKalb Police..You never see your family any way

Anonymous said...

If you require extra jobs to make ends meet you've chosen to live beyond your means be it via children you clearly can't afford, cars, etc.

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:10

Officers work part time jobs because they HAVE to, not because they want to. I'd give anything to be at home with my family, but over the past 5 years I've lost money and am making less than I did then (considerably less). My job hasn't changed, just my take home salary (and no, I don't live over my means)

Anonymous said...

If I hear one more jerk say "youre living beyond your means", Im gonna get medieval with a pair of pliers and a blow torch (to quote from pulp fiction).

Its not a question of living beyond ones means, its a question of
1) wage stagnation/economic stagnation (they go hand in hand..... for example..NO RAISES IN YEARS)

2)the falling value of the dollar and piss poor monetary policy

3)the rising and often volatile price of gasoline and other energy sources

4) the rising costs of healthcare (yes, a new or higher deductible IS an increase...for those of you fooled by politician mathematics)

5)housing market stagnation/decline

6)food price increases

7)taxes (yes, the politician math is in effect here as well....one party that starts with a D wants them to go up again with no negotiation)

Do you get the point my living beyond my means crowd ?? Do Ya ?

AND you cant blame GOV BUSH for all of it either... If the replacement had some competence beyond speeches and swagger, maybe some of the things on the list would be better and in turn we would be able to THRIVE within our means.

SERENITY NOW

Anonymous said...

Heaven forbid officers work part time jobs to live a comfortable lifestyle they can enjoy.

Without part time jobs or courtesy officer jobs, a lot of officers wouldnt be able to make ends meet. You don't know what every officers personal struggles are. You don't know if their spouse has lost a job or can't find work, children have medical conditions with high medication costs, etc. Keep your fucking mouth shut about living beyond ones means until you walk a mile in their shoes.

Anonymous said...

This has nothing to do with living beyond ones means. How someone spends their off day is their business. It has to do with the fact that every person prefers to work a 4/3. Being an police officer, it makes more since productively in a ten hour shift. Every major department works on a 4/3 or other beneficial shift, with a few exceptions like atlanta which is switching now. Why are they switching? Because good officers are leaving, they find employees are happier and productivity goes up. If you want officers to leave to other departments, a 5/2 is the way to go. Common sense anyone?

Anonymous said...

They're probably weeding out those that can't commit to full work week and have disposable time to write on the blog. They want you condemned 24/7 like they are.

Anonymous said...

Departments have been going 4/3 for awhile. Some had to do it to make manpower stretch like Fulton County PD had to. Some hated it as the department went to 7am-7pm/7pm-7am scheduling but stopped the backlog of calls during shift change, officers enjoyed more time off and it allowed the agency to have more officers on patrol.

APD used to be so bad to the point they had to start admitting during community meetings, we have some beats that do not have an officer.

APD just announced they have their 2,000 officers. Lets see how many of them remain by this time next year.

Anonymous said...

Actually most have eliminated 3rd shift and use 2 12 hr shifts, dividing up manpower equally. No ones uses 8 hr shifts due to EPA subsidies for lessening fuel consumption for commuting employees. As we know virtually NO DKPD employees live within the county and for good reason.

Guys be thankful, it could be worse like working over here in Clarkston for chief Butch Hudson. We would love to have Chief Alexander.

red said...

Clarkston P.D. is ,and has always been the agency of second and last chances for "cast-aways". Just be glad you still don't have that unprofessional moron,Sippio! Their reserve program is a joke, that hired all the county "slugs",and less than stellar supervisor's! At least your chief is not a rabid closet racist. It's better to deal with the devil you know. Count your blessing's!
