Are You Feeling The Love Now?

Did you feel that wet warm feeling on your head today? Nothing like a golden shower to start the day!

We haven't had a pay raise in years. We are losing people in droves because of the lack of a decent wage. We close down a precinct, redistribute the manpower, yet the remaining precincts have less now then before.

Lee May, in all his wisdom, throws a one time 3% bonus at us, but only if we sign a contract saying we won't leave until June of 2014 or we will have to pay the money back.

The outsider, Chief Cedric, who so far has accomplished nothing, threatens to leave and what does good ol' Lee do? Gives Cedric a freaking $8000.00 dollar per year raise to stay.

That's right, an $8000.00 per year raise! Not a bonus! A yearly raise!

Obviously Chief Cedric is not staying here for the love of his work and the people of DeKalb. He just shook the county down for 8 grand a year.

Now, our question is; what makes Cedric The Entertainer anymore important than us? Seriously?

We are constantly being jacked around and being threatened with losing an off day with the proposed 5/2 work week.

The only headache Cedric has so far being chief, is how to continue with the corruption cover-up of Burrell.

Well, we think it's time to give him one big headache that will get his attention along with the attention of the commissioners.

Lee May and Cedric The Entertainer show nothing but blatant, total contempt for the working uniform stiff in the streets.

The madness continues!

Conroy, Chief. WTF?

Anonymous said...

I guess Fire will be enjoying the 5/2 as well very soon.

One last white employee to get rid of and they're all set.

Conroy; The token white boy to take the hit for all the incompetence surrounding him.

Anonymous said...

I think we got a clue as to the plan with conroy today. CEO says Alexander will be the "face of public safety in DeKalb". Conroy just stands there and isn't allowed to say a word during the press conference. Can we say repeat of O'Brien here?

I used to love being a Dekalb County officer. I took pride in the work I did and the people I worked with. That was 15+ years ago and is gone. Now, I am embarrassed to put on the uniform and represent the corruption that is Dekalb County. Before you say it, yes I am leaving this hell hole. There is no pride in the police department of the BOC. You are going to pay Alexander more money and give him a position that you said was unnecessary and wanted to get rid of when Wiz was there. Who are you going to make chief now? Holmes---I will be ready to turn in my unform and hand you badge.

Anonymous said...

So he still is the Chief with a new title and more money. We have a token in place to appeased everyone.
The money will come from other positions that he will assume the office to supervise. It's the same thing that Lil Vern did for WIZ.

When did this guy become an expert in Law Enforcement?

One thing , he loves the camera audience.

Wow Lee May and Larry Johnson what a team they make.

Conroy's promotion a few weeks ago makes even more sense now. Looks to me like this was planned a while ago.

Someone needs to give the upper staff the customer service class. One Dekalb my butt. Not cool Lee May.

Don't worry about the raise guys the newly appointed Deputy Chief Director of Public Safety is getting. His salary AND bonus will be paid out of the 911 budget. The county won't be losing a dime to "elevate" him. Your new "Top Cop" will do the same thing he did for Communications when he was over them. And if you don't know what he did for them, then you've already answered your own question! 911 Communications,"Saving the county and its citizens 1 Deputy Chief Director Public Safety salary at a time!"

Harry Johnson said...

So I guess we now have another " Director of Public Safety" again huh!!
$8000.00 freaking grand a year, I along with many others haven't had a $8.00 raise in 8 years, I guess it's time for another ticket slow down.
So LETS ALL PULL TOGETHER STOP FREAKING WRITING THE CITATIONS.

Hey Conroy, how bout you do something really unique. Tell them no but hell no I won't be ur bitch, or fall guy. Take ur demotion and start working for a living....After all u must stand for something or u will fall for anything....And when it's all said and done and they use u up and throw u out ( and they will). You will just be the guy that got where he was because he was shot in the leg....man have some self respect....Stop sleeping with the dogs....or live with ur flee bites.....Put in perspective..Do you want ur kids getting to the top the way you are...Just to take the hit that is coming.? Think about that.

Anonymous said...

He probably only had to sign that agreement to say he was going to stay on for 6 more months...hahahaha

Anonymous said...

I would not, repeat would not be able to face my family after that press release....Not even gonna say who I'm talking about...everyone knows as I'm sure he himself.....man don't be a bought man.....please where is ur dignity?

Anonymous said...

hey....December 17, 2013 at 12:52 PM.......

When you leave after that much time.....15 years.....they let you keep your badge......leave sooner than later.....

an observation......Conroy looks like a "kept man".

Anonymous said...

Conroy has earned nothing but respect from me. He has always treated me as if I was on his same level and he never once talked down to me, even when I was wrong. I wish there were more people like him. Cedric, on the other hand, he has taken the #1 idiot spot in the department. I would love to know who the morons are that actually think he has leadership skills and the knowledge to run the police department, let alone Fire, Communications and the ME's office???? What a great way to waste more of the taxpayers’ money by giving him a pay increase to do absolutely nothing. For some reason I keep hoping that DeKalb will get better, but I guess that’s just wishful thinking. At least T-Bo went through an abbreviated academy and had some law enforcement knowledge. I guess Cedric just thinks he’s above everyone else now that he has authority.... Lee May, I don’t do this very often but I’m going to give you some free advice. Do the tax payers’ a favor and get real leadership in that county, or better yet, disband the BOC and eliminate their positions along with yours. It’s time to grow up and find a real job and quit playing puppet master for DeKalb County.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand how you guys can say that Chief Alexander hasn't done anything for the department. He created the ILP unit which has lowered crime more than any other unit or division within this department.

Anonymous said...

I love it! They always put a white guy in as interim chief just as a token so that they don't look racist. We all know that we'll never have another white chief. That's just a fact Jack. And as far as another chief being able to do anything, forget it, they'll just be Ced's personal hand puppet like O'Brien was. Ced will still call all the shots.

Lee May, you are a freaking hypocrite! You were the one who spoke out the loudest about the useless position of Public Safety Director and what a waste of money it was! Now you turn around and reinstate the position. You are no different than the others. You got a little taste of the power of CEO and now you're abusing it and going back on all of your words. So typical of a politician.

Hey Ced, I've got to give it to you brother. You have everyone fooled and they're all buying into your antics. I've never seen anyone as power hungry as you are. I bet Lee May doesn't even know that you've never even been a police supervisor before. You went from Detective to Chief but you're a so called expert! Good scam you're running. Are you gonna hang that Training Day movie poster up in your Public Safety office? It'll go great next to the Scarface poster. Hey, at least you'll be bringing back the "swag" to the Public Safety Directors office.

Overlooked said...

So Chief Alexander got a 4.88% raise after being here for just nine months....when did we last see a raise for the rank and file?

I'm not feeling the love.

Anonymous said...

Come on, everyone! We need to stand together!

No raises=No tickets!

Anonymous said...

Wait Wait, so all I have to do is threaten to leave the department and I'll get a raise AND a promotion into a position that was created just for me? Alright DeKalb, I'm putting you on notice, I'm in talks with Rochester PD about taking one of their patrol officer positions. Don't say I didn't warn you. Lee May, I will be expecting your phone call.

Anonymous said...

Astonishing incompetence!! How could Lee May have misread this so badly? Did he really think this was a good move and the officers would be happy about it?

Alexander is just a shyster with a suit. Did May even bother to investigate before making this decision? If He bothered to check he would find that there are many severe problems with Cedric as chief in this department. Lee May will regret this decision in less than six months but he has no one to blame but himself.

Anon 8:43
You are being funny or you are being dumb. Can't decide which.

So, Lee "CEO for a Day" May promoted "Big Head" Ced to a position that was eliminated not even a year ago.

Guys don't forget, it was only four months ago, back in August, when a Special Purpose Grand Jury recommended to eliminate the position of Public Safety Director. Looks like Lee May is just going to ignore that. After all, stupid Grand Jury's don't know anything anyways, do they Lee May.

Here's the article:

The commissioners have been trying to eliminate the Public Safety position for years and now all of the sudden they're ok with bringing it back. This is democratic politics at its best. Sit back and enjoy the show guys and gals.

Here's a clip from a newspaper article that I found at
http://www.thecrier.net/news/article_e511386a-85a2-11e2-bf2b-001a4bcf887a.html

"Another change to the proposed budget is the elimination the $250,000 appropriation for the Public Safety Director’s Office. Public Safety Director William “Wiz” Miller retired last week. Most commissioners opposed the CEO’s creation of that position and have tried to eliminate it for years."

Anonymous said...

No one should ever have to wonder why the morale is so damn bad in this department. Another Public Safety Director....un friggin believeable....or not?

Anonymous said...

Let me make sure I make this very clear and no one misunderstands what I a am saying.
“We will succeed and we will win the fight” this is from our new public safety director.
Well Mr. Public safety director and new police chief and all the assistant chiefs you have succeeded and a great big congratulations to all of you. I am so very proud of all the hard work you have all done and I am so very happy to see all of you patting each other on the back and telling each other what a great job each of you are doing. I mean where else can someone go and work hard for years and produce day in and day out and not get a cost of living raise or an annual merit increase. You tell us to make the best of our situation and to come to work and be happy we have a job and be the perfect officer and never complain or ask why we keep getting told lies about raises and fair treatment. Well guess what we do come to work and we do give a 100% ever fucking day and we get told to be happy or go somewhere else. Now with all the infinite knowledge of our leaders we are going back to a 5 day work week which is costing officers yet more money that is another day we have to pay for gas in our vehicle and another day we have to pay for child care and another day we don’t get to spend with our family. Thank you for sticking it to us yet again. I wish I could sit behind a desk and just come up with different ways to make changes that will screw up the lives of other people that I don’t really care about. Just once I would like for a member of the command staff to say instead of me trying to make my mark on something or try to impress someone look at the changes you are about to make and ask yourself how is this going to affect the officers that work for me. Instead of putting your personal mark on something and slamming your Thor hammer down declaring you are a god do the right thing for the officers that give you a 100% and make you look good support those who do the job day in and day out and have already made sacrifices for this department and their families.
I challenge the command staff and the director to do the right thing and you will see the officers will respect that and give you the work you want.

Anonymous said...

So we are going to have a police chief PLUS this A-Hole Cedric Alexander? You can not make this stuff up.

DeKalb County is facing tough financial times but these dumb asses think it's a good idea to create a new $170,000.00 a year position that serves absolutely no purpose.

They just can't figure out why all these people want to form a new city and get away from these idiots. This decision is a perfect example of why the cities keep forming. And where do you think Cedric Alexander will be in a year or two? He damn sure won't be in DeKalb County!

Anonymous said...

Don't worry " THIS TOO SHALL PASS" retired and LOL

Anonymous said...

Conroy looked really goofy during the announcement, scared to pieces. Vernon Jones eliminated the Director of Public safety when Tom Brown was there. Lee May agreed with abolishing the same position when Wiz was there. Now he reinstates it and renames it with more taxpayers money. Yeh, New City of Briarcliff.

Anonymous said...

I've been reading the media from Rochestor NY and they keep saying stuff like the Officers in DeKalb love Chief Alexander, want him to stay, have the utmost respect for him. What Kool-Aid have they been drinking cuz that's the farthest from the truth in my opinion. Whats your opinion of him?

Anonymous said...

You are right to be disgusted and disappointed. Sadly, it is just more of the same. You need to make your complaints known to a wider audience. If you think it's not worth the fight, and really, it really may not be, you need an exit plan. This place is going down fast. At some point, the walking wounded need to walk away.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:41

What's my opinion of him? He has the same mental issues that Vernon has. It really is amazing how similar these two men are. I think I actually liked Vernon more than I like Cedric and that is amazing.

Anonymous said...

So let me see if I have a grasp on this new spin. During the latest news release I see a white face standing in the back with a deer in head lights look on face. I hear CEO Mays once again reinstate the not needed director of Public Safety position, and give the guy an $8000.00 raise. When not even a year ago he said that position was not needed and a waste of money. Money Dekalb county can't afford to waste. I hear the new guy say how great he is and how things are going to change because he is in charge now. I think the only thing changing is his salary, and the fact that business as usual in Dekalb county is still in place. Which means nothing with change for the working class. The criminals will continue to line there pockets with everything they can before the ship sinks. And oh yea the white guy will take the blame. Yep think that pretty much wraps it up!
Yep think I see the writing on the wall. Cities will continue to form, Officers will continue to leave "no future here" , and the perps in Decatur will continue to line their pockets while the getting is good. Anyone see anything I missed?

Anonymous said...

Director of Whatever Alexander should have a "Fist Full of Dollars" poster in his office along with the one for "Training Day". He played DeKalb and Rochester against one another for two weeks and leveraged that into a pretty sweet deal. I just wish he was half as good at looking out for us as he seems to be at looking out for himself.

Anonymous said...

Wow, Lee May I really had more hopes than that for you. Probably explains why county employees campaign everyday for these new municipalities when interacting with the public. F**k the tickets the people of this county are getting screwed enough without our help. Time to dissolve this whole county into smaller cities and put it and its incompetent leadership out of its misery! Mooneyham maybe you can kiss enough ass to get back your old office with the new director.

Anonymous said...

Wait until you see what FD is about to get for a chief compliments of Rochester. A real winner of a chief! Sued by previous employees, EEOC complaints out the ass, and never worked in a fire station. Should be great duo with her and Alexander at the helm! Seriously looks like they are trying to drive it into the ground.

Anonymous said...

Deputy Chief Operating Officer Cedric Alexander is the President Obama of DKPD. He's damned if he doesn't and damned if he does. Both of you continue to do your things because both of you will never be good enough or do enough for these excuses, lol!!!!

Anonymous said...

I'm a political observer and I also work in DeKalb County. I would just like to thank all of you rank and file officers on the streets for what you do. I know the department is short officers and I know the political incompetence and ignorance working out of Decatur. It is truly a testament to the dedication of officers serving DeKalb County that you all come to work, and act professional without getting thanks and recognition from your leaders or the public.
I would challenge some of the officers who live in the county to challenge some of the incumbents on the BOC as well as the CEO's office. I believe that it will work. I know it will. VOTING is the only way to rid this County of corruption. Protect and Serve us from the Government Building.

Geeez guys/gals how much are you going take? Life is rewarding away from that dump I promise you. What do you possibly have to lose at this point?

Anonymous said...

Can I step in and give my 2 cents here.....correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that the reason SOD is going back to a 5/2 is because Chief "Brain Child HARRIS" himself decided to do so. He made it perfectly clear that it was his decision and his decision alone and that anyone who didn't like it....well you could take your sorry ass back to uniform. Way to go there "Brain Child Harris", you are definitely da man....

Like it's been said before,it's bad enough that we haven't gotten any sort of a merit increase in 6 yrs but just go ahead and deflate the rest of our hopes. I truly think you all are standing around trying to dream up ways to truly break the spirit of what officer's are left in this department. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, "BRAIN CHILD HARRIS".

Anonymous said...

I am so glad I retired from this shit hole and moved far, far away. I keep up with this blog just to see whats going on with (the very few of) my brothers and sisters still there. I left shortly after the criminals took over....I have higher esteem and respect for myself than to be part of the total bullshit going on there now. I pity those still having to endure the insanity and criminal behavior of these elected/appointed thugs within the department. I pray for the road officers, the true warriors of DKPD every single day.
I was asked 16 years ago by a Capt if I could come up with any way to improve DeKalb County. My response was "push everything, every single structure into a big pile around Stone Mtn and set a big fire that would be visible from outer space... and start over again".
I stand by that to this day! It has been ruined by elected fools!
Yall are completely insane if you DO NOT have a major ticket stoppage. Slowdown my ass! Stop it all! You have that discretion as line officers. Give these elected fools an enema the likes of which they have never seen!!!!!

I get it, he was shot in the academy and the county still feels as though they owe him but to make him chief come on really. He has been a aide his entire career and can't tell anyone how to handle a call so how is he going run the department. B.C Harris is a high ranking officer in the military and has to have the President sign off on his promotions but Lee Mays can't make him chief.

Anonymous said...

It is now apparent that Chief Alexander would have left DeKalb County, had the price been right! The mayor-elect of Rochester told the media "..as the conversation progressed, it became clear that we could not compete financially with an offer made by his current employer — DeKalb County, Georgia." So, obviously Chief Alexander does not have the DeKalb County Police department as his interest. He has his wallet as his interest. Hell, he goes to a Department Christmas party an hour after he gets an $8k/year raise. All the officers had to chip in money for the food. Alexander chows down without paying a dime! (he now makes at least 3x everyone there). Oh and by the speech he made there, we also now know he reads this blog and loves all his "fans." LMAO

I had hope for Lee May. I thought he would be a good steward of the public's money. If he had been a good steward, when Cedric came to him and said he was leaving for Rochester, Lee should have said to him "Good luck, when can I expect your resignation?" Instead, he makes him Director and offers him more money.
You can't really blame Alexander though, he did what others have done in all occupations. He held out for more money. True, he got a 8K raise, but Conroy got a $50,000 raise. He'll need a 50K raise, because when things go wrong he'll take the blame. When things go right, Alexander will take the credit. That's how it worked with Miller and O'Brien.
Those that think Conroy should have turned it down are crazy. Would you give up a $50,000 raise just to make a statement?
Somebody on here said the County should be used as a case study in college management courses, of what not to do. That person is so right. Those in power continue to make the same mistakes that the ones before them did. Nobody ever seems to learn.
I heard a great analogy of what the County will become from someone last week. The county is like the Costa Concordia, we've run aground and have taken on water. The salvage companies (the neighborhood groups that want to incorporate) are going to take their share until there is nothing left. The County will have a foot note in history when it's finally finished.

Why is Dekalb co failing? It is the county leadership that never learns from mistakes.

They take..take..and take more....but when you ask them for something that cost no money what so ever to keep morale a little higher......its fuck you...no get out here and answer calls....

They pulled me in at center and asked me if I was afraid to make an arrest...(18+ years) because my stats were low.....they wanted me to go ride with one of the special units....they looked over the 75 calls I answered and jumped because other were sitting on their thumbs....Thanks there ol capt newton....have the lt. and sgts do your damn dirty work...

You won't follow through with a ticket strike. They all know that to get you folks back in line is to threaten your part-times and move you around to different shifts and precincts. No different than when a pimp corrects his whore. Saw it over and over when I was there. There are too many company men and women (for the politically correct) there to bring about any change. The department is lost. If cities continue to incorporate and their current rate, they will leave nothing. The county will not be able to afford to keep many of you because there is no money and no territory to cover. Take home cars are not happening and the bonus was to shut you up. They know you all can't leave. Too many of you and not enough police departments. Stop worrying about cars you're not going to get and money for raises that isn't there. Worry instead about how you're going to save yourself should that place collapse or get out before it does. When I think about it, there are only 4 people left there from our old team of 9. The rest of us left policing all together.

Not only will we not get a take-home, but only have two off days, at least one of which eaten up by court. Then as usual all OT will be allocated to comp time that you'll never be allowed to use.

I've investigated the take home car program....it is going to happen after the 1st of the year.

That is why they are pushing the caprices out left and right.

I've even found out through the e-mails on motor maint. e-mails that the 6 chargers that have been at Motorola for 7 months now are on the PM list so the caprices are finished on time. Looked at gas key logs and saw that 2 cars over in Special Ops. have over 205K miles....their replacement cars have been pushed back do the take home cars can go out in time.....I'm sure those guys driving those units with those miles on them feel warm and fuzzy....knowing their replacements have been pushed back....would like to get their input on how they feel pushing their units everyday to the limits to do what the county tells them to do.....tickets...tickets...tickets...

Mean while...it will be interesting on the take home program.....will the county make you sign another contract to stay here another year if you get a car???....or according to motor maint. will you sign a contract if you mess it up....you pay for...(which is only right???).....when I did my research I found one over in special ops. that took the paint off his hood...they gave him an estimate......this is the same guy that stands on the gas petal to the floor to go get a seat belt ticket......after looking at PATS.....the same that sits at MEL AVE. & E.Ponce and writes 200 tickets for No Turn on RED Light.....LOOSER!!!!...any idiot can do that.

So...take home is coming...hold on and sit tight...

Guys over in SOD....I'm surprised you haven't kicked Jr's rear end---(out of East Prec)...and get him to do his job right....which he never will....I'm sure....

Motor Maint. will be the Sheppard on take homes...they see what happens to these units.....

By the way....Merry X-mas to all

Question, if the county flops and goes bankrupt what happens to all of our contributions to the pension? I am currently deep into the hiring process with another agency and need a little clarity as to what I should do with my contributions into the pension when I leave. Should I keep it in the county or withdraw and face all the penalties from taxes?

Anonymous said...

Your pension question depends on many variables. Are you under the old 82.5% plan and have over 10 years of service making you vested? If so and you freeze it deciding to draw at 50, living an average life expectancy, its worth leaving in place. If you cash it out, try and do it early in the year so your salary thus far doesn't increase your tax bracket once combined with additional income from withdrawal.

Anonymous said...

If you maxed out as MPO under old retirement plan and live to be 80 you'll collect 1.25 million plus benefits.

Anonymous said...

You mean WHEN this county goes bankrupt, look at Detroit's pension ruling. You'll be paid pennies on the dollar if that. If you're leaving I'd reinvest with a less shady organization.

Anonymous said...

Just give "The Love" immediately back to whoever is dishing it out. Don't take it home to those you care about.

If you roll over the contributions to another investment you will pay no penalties. When you leave just put your new investment company in contact with the county and they will do the rest. You will never even see the check, it will go straight to your new firm or employer. Yes, you can even roll it into the pension or 457b your new agency offers. You will lose the contributions the county put in if you move it but are you willing to gamble listing all of it on the failures of DeKalb. I've been gone a year and my new investment firm has already doubled my money so I won't even notice DeKalbs. Best of luck to you in the new job you will be so much happier, my family and I are!

Ask your pension rep. I think he lives in some other state.

Look at some of the "Investment Groups" Dekalb invests your money into. One had muslim paintings on their business wall and had to be dropped due to outcry of underperformance. Obviously a front/fraud used for someone's kickbacks as usual. If you're still expecting Dekalb to do the responsible thing then you probably aren't smart enough to notice or care if you're bankrupt so it becomes a moot point.

This comment ISN’T directed toward any of your officers; it’s for the upper management and civilians running that place. Your department is sad and pathetic. Not because of the quality of work your officers do, but because of how you manage your department and treat your officers. I work in New York and decided to research DeKalb once the NYPD was considering bringing back Cedric Alexander. I came across this blog and was shocked at the way things are run down south. It appears that you have a bunch of uneducated morons, with little or no experience at all, running your department into the ground. If I can see that from reading a blog, imagine how your officers must feel. And what the hell is this CEO position and what has he done positive for your department??? It appears that all your CEO’s, past & present, are corrupt. I think someone down there needs to wake up and create a union for that place. If you’re too afraid to approach the idea or don’t understand exactly what a union is, I'd be more than happy to explain it to you. You just have to be susceptible to learn something new. (According to what I’ve been reading on this blog, that might be hard for the people on your “4th Floor” to comprehend) Everyone here at my department laughs at your CEO and Board of Commissioners as they pretend to play politicians and fail miserably.

Oh and one more thing. Who in their right mind uses the word SWAGGER????? Very professional coming from a police chief…… (Yes, that was sarcasm to the people on your 4th Floor)

Thanks for all of the input in reference to the pension. I have to do some homework!I will look into transferring it to my new dept. And to the person who asked I am not under the the old pension plan but I do have 8 1\2 years here in Dekalb.

@December 23, 2013 at 1:06 PM ..an example of uninformed....DeKalb does not invest your (retirement) money. The pension board guides those decisions. The under performing company was fired by the pension board. If you would like to discuss how "smart" we are, we have roll call at the precincts at 6am, 2pm and 10pm. Stop by, let's talk.

12/23 6:43: As bad as things are, stay for 10 years and get vested. After that, move on to greener pastures. That's my .02 take it for what it's worth. For everyone else, that's not love you're feeling back there.

Alexander's pay raise is not the first time 911 money has been used to buy "toys" for the police department or to provide a huge undeserved raise. 911 operators have not had a raise since the move from Camp Cir. How long will they be able to continue before burnout sets in from working overtime to make ends meet and with no respect to boot. When you get off the elevator on the fifth floor the first you see is "ALWAYS THERE, ALWAYS READY" , not if they don't get a raise soon. Experienced operators are quitting and putting police officers lives at risk!

DECEMBER 26, 2013 AT 1:54 AM, Amen... imagine the near future... inexperienced 911 combined with inexperienced officers.... they're chirping and going on and on about how they're hiring but, they're doing nothing to stem the flow out the door.

Take homes will help but, I'm not holding my breath... 5/2's would just add fuel to the burning fire....raises and or help with benefits would go a long way.

To 1:54am I concur!

Don't think that just because you made it to the next level that the haters and naysayers disappear. Remember, new levels bring new devils. And DeKalb is full of them
