This blog page was established so DeKalb County Police Officers including their family and friends may have a place to hold discussions, post news and vent without fear of retribution.
"its a dry cold....it really doesn't feel like its 8 degrees out here in this uniform. Feels more like 18 degrees to me. And this bullet proof vest acts like a nice warm goose down vest.....I am comfy."How do YOU feel in your office?
I'm getting really fed up with Channel 2 constantly running negative stories about our department that are complete bullshit. Last week, Carol Sbarge ran a story about a 47 minute response time to a burglary in progress call. Given our manpower issues, I suppose it's possible this could happen, but in this case, it didn't happen! I looked into for myself and found that the officers were on scene 22 minutes after the homeowner first called 911, not 47 minutes. The officers were in the area on foot looking for the suspects after 22 minutes. Did Carol Sbarge bother to verify this family's story? Apparently not! Is this what you call "responsible journalism" Ms. Sbarge? I think you owe some of us an apology and maybe a retraction!
Who was the DKPD officer who captured the shooting suspect on Buford Hwy at Corporate Blvd last night? Brookhaven is saying their officers responded to the scene and apprehended the suspect. Since youare DKPD and probably will not be recognized for taking an active shooter in to custody and possibly saying the victim's life, please let me say THANK YOU. GOOD no GREAT JOB!!!!!!!
47 minute response time... when we get busy, there are usually one or two burglaries pending for a half hour to an hour or more.... once they label it 42 checked, it drops off the priority list. If you want a better response time, you'll need to pay officers enough to keep them from leaving..... and get rid of the alphabet soup of uniform officers who don't answer calls.
No call left behind/pending... Time for supervisors to start handling some if they want units on spcl generating ticket revenue instead of serving the public. Time for media to get copies of watch lists.
Hey Anonymous @ 6:00 PM......"I looked into for myself and found that the officers were on scene 22 minutes after the homeowner first called 911..." on a 42P? Are you smoking crack too? 22 minutes????? Way too long of a response time!!!!! Pathetic, incompetent department!!!! And you wonder why City hood is on everyones lips?
8:37pm, if you had seen the report, you would know that the reason for the delay was everyone was on their way to help a fellow officer having trouble on a traffic stop. That was the reason given for the 45 minute response, which never happened. Sorry, but an officer in distress takes priority over someone's wheels getting stolen. If we had twice as many officers working that night, they all would have been en route to back their fellow officer and the response time would have been exactly the same. If you don't understand that, you're the crack smoking moron! I sure hope you're not an officer! I wouldn't want to rely on you as back up. For your information, once the situation with the officer in distress was handled, officers were dispatched to the 45p and were on scene in 8 minutes. Next time, get your facts straight before you run your mouth!
@ January 10, 2014 at 8:37 PM ...It wasn't reported as a burglary in progress. Making comments or judgements without the facts is pathetic and incompetent.
Hey 10:58 and 11:17,,,,,,,Thank god there are still morons like you two who will put their lives on the line and carry the flag for what.......7 years without a raise? IDIOTS!Carry on.........blah, blah blah.........I am 1041!
Fellow Officer's be sure to fill out the Survey Monkey 37 questionnaire that was sent out the other day. Be truthful with your responses and we are going to ask the local news stations to "Open records" request the results so that the truth gets out.
