Great job HOMICIDE UNIT!!!!!!! you guys are starting the year off very well with the clearance. Great group of detectives, keep up the good work.

The Dekalb School System is now off of probation from SACS. They are not fully restored yet (still on warning status) but took a major step in the right direction.

You know what can be taken away from that paragraph from up above ? ITS AMAZING WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP IN PLACE. Thats all I have to say about that !

It's easy to keep a low clearance rate. It's proving the cases being cleared the problem.

Can someone explain why over 35 new patrol cars have been gathering dust in the Fire parking lot at 34 for over a month while we're short cars and driving cars with over 100,000 miles?

Below is a post I came across on Facebook. This child needs to be found. Is it really up to DFCS to allow or not allow an Amber Alert ? This should be all over the news ! DFCS is such a joke !

This is my Grandson, Kyle and he has been missing in the Stone Mountain, GA area since Saturday. He is 12 years old and under 5' tall. The GA DFACS office in Ellijay was responsible for him after removing him from my son because Rick refused to put him on ADHD medicine that has been tried before and did not work. Because they do not the want the publicity that comes with DFACS losing a child, they have issued NO Amber Alert, no news broadcasts of him going missing, etc. As of yesterday, DFACS was not even looking for him. They gave Rick permission to go find him and he is down in Dekalb County looking for him now. If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please contact me on here. He will be easy to spot, as DFACS had put into a Foster home in a predominantly black neighborhood. He was seen at a convenience store on Redan Road a couple days after he went missing.

Blog Master can u set up a swap/trade page within this blog so that we DeKalb Officers and Retired Dekalb Officers can trade items between ourselves? We are so spread out across Georgia and even out of state now that we loose touch with one another and, I feel like if we could have this it would help. It would have to be something NOT OPEN to the general public, and where you would have to have a password to get into. It would have a list of email address and names etc so that we could be able to network better.

Just a thought.

Good idea, but let us refer you to GLER, or Ga. Law Enforcement Recourse @

It's run by a DeKalb officer and would probably be better suited for that.

Thanks for reading and stay safe!

Those cars have been sitting there longer than just a month, they have been there at least since Thanksgiving, not to mention the ones sitting at old 34 with no decals. Oh yeah they had several chargers to but they have disappeared. Are we gonna get take homes or not???????

Anonymous said...

Adam Murphy needs to get off his ass and do a story on this!

DeKalb PD has purchased cars and left them to gather dust while officers are leaving in droves and those who haven't left are driving cars that should have been taken out of service long ago. We used to get rid of them at 100,000 miles.

Here's a news story on a silver platter....

Anonymous said...

No take homes ever...deal with it, this place is a toilet

Anonymous said...

Having been in supervisors meetings when take-homes was discussed it's assumed officers here aren't responsible enough for them. It's imagined the equipment would be "misplaced" in them and/or you'd show for work with 22"s on them.

Anonymous said...

@ 5:47pm, just give your name or shut up. I heard about the busines license people and I don't work in that department.

When are we getting our W2's???? ..I had my tax refund this time last year.

Anonymous said...

Who gets a return with extra job 1099s eating it all? Keep the W2 as long as you want since I always end up paying them anyway.

Anonymous said...

Giving take homes to a lot of officers would be a terrible idea. On the other hand Gwinnett gives its cadets take homes halfway through the academy, they just cant remove them from the county and they all have GPS.

Imagine the news stories from what we all know some DKPD officers would be doing with take home cars.

Anonymous said...

One thing is for certain, I'm not risking having one of these Atl morons wreck my POV while trying to get to work (AKA shit-hole). If I had a county take-home I'd put forth the effort, but not my own when no one else does.

Hey guys, this is the guy with the Army truck who was out in the Tucker and central precinct area trying to help out in his icy mess we have right now.

First, Bloody great work by the officers slogging through the gigantic pile of calls. I get to call it a day and go turn in when I want but you guys are still out there. I talked to a number of you guys tonight and I'm quite please to see you guys trying to plow through that giant mess.

Second, command staff and motorpool wallas, why the heck didn't the cars have tire chains, in their trunks last bloody night? There should not have been a mass of units out, at least what I saw early on, in icing conditions still waiting on the decision for chains to be installed. That decision should be local depending on conditions. Get the guys some equipment so they're not helpless on the ice. Please, a tax payer begs that you spend on his if necessary.

Third all you cops and EMS crews have far more patience than I do for the people trying to do things with their cars that they cannot do on ice and clogging up every major highway, causing numerous accidents and log jams.

Be careful out there!

Well metro Atlanta turns into a winter wonderland again and EVERYBODY gets caught either at work or on the roads. How stupid can you be to see the weather going to hell all around you and you sit there and let yourself get caught in it...miles from home. I spoke to a buddy of mine who said it took him 9 hours to get from a shopping mall to his home yesterday evening. I asked him what the HELL were you doing at a shopping mall knowing full well there was a winter storm coming in. He said he needed underwear. IDIOT!!! The National Weather Service issues winter storm watches and warnings for a reason people. If you get caught, then YOU DIDNT PAY ATTENTION OR YOU DIDNT CARE! I have zero pity on fools who live in some bubble and not pay attention to an event that could end their lives.
And....the same thing has been happening for years around here. You want to know why they dont put tire chains in our police cars? Because they damage the police cars and the damage it does to those precious cars isnt worth helping your stupid ass get back home when you shouldnt have been there in the first place!

The old cops says...Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Your CEO is calling people Dr. on press conference then saying "He's not really a Dr. but I'll call him one". Sadly this comedy of errors is not uncommon to Dekalb. "This my cousin ray-ray and he's gonna play chief for a bit."

Anonymous said...

Someone needs to explain the difference between a storm warning and watch to your school superintendent. He probably needs to know the difference since he makes the decision to close schools.

Anonymous said...

I'd be glad to taxi kids home from school to help out our inept leaders on my way home too if I had a take home car.

Anonymous said...

Two more bite the dust apparently!! TWO more officers leaving east for greener pastures of more money, better benefits, A TAKE HOME CAR, and less BULLSHIT to have to deal with.

Anonymous said...

Had schools not been closed earlier in the year because it was too chilly to stand at a bus stop, the snow days wouldn't be needed to be used so sparingly now. Wouldn't hurt to bring back the draft either to toughen up these little punks.

It's amazing, no-one's learned their lesson from 2011. And it's not even as bad as it was in 2011. People saw a snowflake drift past their windows at work and everyone lost their freaking mind. I'm glad that in an "Emergency" situation, everyone's normal reaction is to run out into the streets and then wonder why everyone has run out into the streets. It was 2 1/2 Inches and everyone's gone F-ing crazy.

Then of course, there's the idiots that expect...I dont know, a Police escort? when they get caught in a ditch somewhere or in the snow. Yes, it's a heart-warming story when you see an officer stopping to help a lone motorist on the side of the road. But when you're going from call to call of nothing but "The TV man said there was going to be snow, and now, for some reason I'm out and about and got caught in it, what do???" If you're not dead, dying, or naturally cryogenically frozen, I really don't give a shit, I'll get to you when I get to you. And I really haven't been doing this long enough to ALREADY have such a pessimistic and pitiful view of the county's citizens. Good lord, this place would break my spirit if I didn't find the endless limits of people's stupidity so goddamn hilarious!

Stay Warm(hehe) and Stay Safe out there!

Maj. wake up and stop letting Newton run the Prect. He is leaving you alone on this sinking ship....and pissing everyone that keeps this place a float off. Wake up man, wake up...

Anonymous said...

Captain Porter as a Major, yes that's going to happen. Alexander showed just how stupid he is when he put a captain who called her coworker a racial slur and a 2 week lieutenant in charge of his pet unit. Alexander needs to wake up and at least ask some of the people who left that stupid unit what they left. It's because the managers are complete idiots. Hell the lieutenant in ILP activated his own detectives to respond to his residence outside of the county to investigate a burglary at his house. So if your house gets burglarized you need to have ILP to respond. If their lieutenant can do it, so can you.

Anonymous said...

Forgot to say good riddens to Sergeant Graham......hopefully you will stay gone from East! Now there's just one slug sergeant left to go and we can all rest easier.

Anonymous said...

This from a Cobb cop. We don't have takehomes either and we have guys leaving left and right for greener pastures too. It's not just yall. Only difference is, they haven't told us that we'll be getting them.

Anonymous said...

When a supervisor can pick and choose which rule and policy he wants to abide by and which one he doesn't he NO longer is an effective leader! If truth be known probably never was one.

Anonymous said...

Write that supervisor up just as they would you. Everyone is supposed to follow the same policy. If it goes unaddressed I'm sure the media will be more than happy to shed light on it.

Anonymous said...

I thought Newton was retiring in a couple of months. That should solve the problem at Center right?

I see why you guys are worried about S. Porter being promoted to Major but I think her use of the racial slur toward a fellow employee, while clearly wrong, is the least concerning problem. What about being lazy for an entire career? And maybe even more likely and troublesome would be the promotion of C. Howard. How Lee May allows that situation to exist with a department head is amazing and disgusting. At least Wiz and V. Logan had the good sense to try to hide it to some extent. When is Cedric going to come ride around with me on a regular basis for some one on one time and take me to lunch and hang out with me off duty? Should I hold my breath?

As to the constant complaints about ILP, which the entire department thinks is a joke, this is nothing new. It was a disaster and a waste of manpower from the beginning. More people are just realizing it now. This whole ILP fiasco was not Alexander's idea originally. It seems that he just does not know enough about law enforcement to know when he is being fed a pile of horse dung. Plus I don't think he really cares anyway. The ILP Unit in this department was created last spring. I am almost positive this ILP thing was the brain child of B. Harris. He was the one going all over the department telling everyone how this would revolutionize police work in the DKPD for the next decade. I wonder if any supervisors pushed back on this at all? But yeah, I see what he was talking about now. The cutting edge of crime fighting for sure.

Anonymous said...

Wow. Using your subordinates to investigate your burglary. I would say that's unbelievable but this is Dekalb. This place is a joke. What makes it really bad is that nothing is going to be done about it.

Anonymous said...

Let me understand this, The Lt. over in the ILP unit, Lt. James, had a burglary at is private residence, which happens to be in Newton County or Covington, GA, and he activates two detectives and a Sgt to respond to his house to investigate. Is he paying the salaries of these 3 officers while investigating a crime outside of Dekalb not to mention that these 3 officer's were off duty and called in on their off time to his house...Oh what bullshit!!
I'm sure that Newton County SO has burglary detectives. My only concern is who is paying for these officers to be working on a case outside of Dekalb and when did we start doing this sort of thing.

It's so obvious that there are people running around this department that are out of control and think they can do whatever the hell they want whenever the hell they want. This is directed at Command Staff. There is no accountability on the command staff and this is clearly evident. If an officer had tried to do this that ass would be gone. It blows my mind that Capt. Porter has survived this long with the turnover that's occurred in the ILP unit...but then again it's also the status quo.

Where is the Media investigation on abuse of county resources?

Anonymous said...

Well ILP has take home cars- they need some justification, least they were called out for the first time to respond somewhere.

I hear they have new cars too.

Anonymous said...

No way....did they give ILP the 35 new cars that have been gathering dust in the fire parking lot at 34?

Anonymous said...

If ILP gets new take home cars...Then to all Uniformed officers I say SHUT IT DOWN. The hell with this department, you are in the public view everyday, all day, you are who the public deals with all day long. I for one am sick and tired of carrots being dangled in front of our nose. Shut the proactive shit down, answer your calls and sit and wait for another. There is not a damn thing they can do....answer calls and write your reports, write real good ones you know like you actually had time to do it. Handle the public concerns, talk to the citizen take your time to deal with them, just like there call is the most important thing you have to do today. If another call comes out in your territory, acknowledge and have radio hold it for your unit. Be all you can be and give it your all ONE call at a time. Just saying out of a product what you put into it...and the County isn't putting shit into Uniform division.

Thoughts and Prayers with our own Officer shot ambush-style not too long ago, As well as the Cobb Officer shot earlier in the week. The Danger we place ourselves in at the wish of a County that doesn't even find us worthy enough for a take-home, or even a vehicle under 100,000 miles truly makes me question my employment decision here. I'm just thankful that neither of these recent cases turned into an LODD, because even if ours was, most likely the powers that be still wouldn't take Public Safety seriously.

As quoted in a recent movie I saw "The suspects come from the front, the department comes in from the rear." Stay Safe out there.

Your pension payment is based on your base salary. If you make more than expected in a given year (via overtime, etc.) you will be hit for more money based on your increased salary for that year.

The earning adjustment was for those that have the HSA and had too much with held on the first paycheck. That was when we were informed that the benefits elections were for only 6 months. Yea, Lee May what about that 10% promotional pay reinstatement that you touted?

The upcoming elections will serve as a true barometer for DeKalb County.

Citizens in South DeKalb and even North DeKalb talk about there being One DeKalb and how everyone needs to pull together. Well, let's watch and see what South DeKalb voters do when they have a chance to elect an accused rapist and a convicted racist for Sheriff. Also see who they elect to the school board. At least one of the old members who was removed by the governor wants his job back, convicted felon Jay Cunningham.

Another night club shooting, when is DeKalb gonna crack down on these clubs. Shootings, drugs, prostitution, overcrowding, etc. Everyone seems to be turning a blind eye. The only thing Dr. Alexander wants to do is go after the strip clubs and make small dope and warrant arrests. Police brass, code enforcement, fire marshal, alcohol and permits all seem to be looking the other way. When was the last time you saw officers checking these place after dark? Pull the part times at a few locations that certain brass don't like and that solves the rampant problems at all the other ones. Look at the ranks of the officers working J2 at the Velvet Room where last nights shooting was and you will see why lien officers cannot or will not check these places.
