Another Study? At Almost Half Million Dollars?

How many studies have been conducted over the last 2 decades? And how could $475,000.00 be used elsewhere?

Once again, the county is conducting a study on manpower and salaries only to have tossed aside just like all the others.

So what will $475,000.00 get us? So far, it's only gotten us a survey that can only be described as confusing. Some of our nerd co-workers are even having trouble answering some of the questions.

We don't think more studies are necessary, just dust off the last one and use it.

The madness continues.

This is mandatory that you complete this, I wonder why?

Not to mention that each employee that completes the survey will be paid during the time they are completing it...and the instructions estimate it will take two to three hours if done properly (that is a good use of our understaffed shifts). Really, the county hired another company that, apparently from the questions being asked, has no idea what a police officer/officer supervisor does?

Pretty soon there will not be any officers left to "survey".....

The money should be used to correct all of the fuckups made in the past and not wasted on a stupid study. Whoever suggested the study must be getting a kickback.

Put these funds to a better use.....give a raise of any amount of a cut back on the amount of the contributions either to the health insurance or pensions.

Now that would be monies well spent instead of the current nonsense

Another view on the subject of a study is, why should there be one in the first place. Who or what is going to benefit from this waste of funds ?

Nothing positive has ever happened there since the 90s and it never will again.

DeKalb government leadership thrives on expensive, B/S salary studies.
When the study doesn't provide a politically acceptable solution the study is revised.
So why pay for an expensive study when DeKalb leadership is going to revise the results to match their politics?

But what about the other study the county paid 400k for last fall that was to report this summer on staff reductions?

Dd we really need to pay a company over 400,000 to tell us that we have not had a raise in over seven years and the pay raise that they are working on will take another 2 years before it is considered to go into effect?

And by then the county will hire another company to tell us that we have not had a raise in 9 years and it will take that company another two years to figure out why the last three companies were needed in the first place?

I know this is a study specific to pay, but I cant remember how many surveys I have taken in the last few years. Hopefully people were as candid as I was. If they were and the county implemented some of it, our rate of attrition would be lower than it is now.Im sure of that.

In regards to this 5/2 schedule, I think the county and department can come up with an alternative.
Keep us on the 4/3 and pony up hours for overtime. The county and some of our command staff over the years who refused to stand up to the BOC and CEO created this mess we are in as far as turnover goes. Why do we have to pay, yet again, for the incompetent failings of the county's elected leaders and management officials ?

Going to the 5/2 will make our bad turnover problem even worse.

The county should also consider how the 5/2 will effect the issuance of long copy citations and that ticket revenue they love and cherish. Im sure many should not and will NOT be writing tickets after this change.

SERNITY NOW

I'd like them to study why in the hell recorders court can't get their schedules correct. I had to write a statement about why I wasn't there on May 7th. Well, it's easy, my court dates this month are the 14th and 21st. The ADA assigned to recorders court then sends an email on May 12th to remind my of my court date on May 7th. Huh?

I love the list of officers that supposedly missed their court dates. It lists the amount of money the county failed to collect because the officers didn't show up. If you could get your stuff straight, you wouldn't be missing the money.

To me, what this list says is that the citizens won't get a fair trial in DeKalb County Recorders Court because the Judges are strictly looking to collect revenue. Any wise citizens out there would be requesting a Jury Trial.

Yea, since when is a citation about money? We did our job issuing the citation. Get your shit together with court schedules..Funny how we never had such problems 15 plus years ago. Guess the clowns are running the circus now.

What ever happened to the 3% raise that was supposed to come near Open Enrollment?

Like the take homes and returning to 10% for the promotional raise, they seem to have gone 10-3.

They better step up the delivery date and deserved raises.... I hear MARTA PD is in the process of raking a huge number of Dekalb officers off the county payroll and the department watch lists.

I wonder when they are going to get to Lee May and the $500,000 that he borrowed from the county and never paid it back, while he asked Chris Morris from Community Development to write it off. DeKalb voters have short attention span and only remember things that happened this morning. When they get to the voting booth, they all get amnesia. What about Larry Johnson, when he was fired from his old job for double dipping on time that he was spending working for the county and has not been able to be rehired anywhere else. They are all crooks and they all need to go.
