Deconstructing DeKalb

The main reason for all of these changes are very simple. When there is a government who cannot manage their monies, screw up the county services, wants to make sure that the taxpaying north side who has to support and pay for the stupid south side for everything, the northside has said "enough is enough".

When cities are created and the tax base goes away from the general fund, those idiots in DeKalb County Government then wonder why or have finally figured it out, that their incomes are drying up. Unfortunately, because of the new cities, the idiots at DeKalb are too stupid to see what has transpired and then realize, its too late.

The school system is next on the chopping block because the kids aren't learning a damn thing except how to throw a ball. Balls cannot read, write, or talk and therefore, the dumbing down of the future generation including the teachers.

So, in essence, what is remaining. New cities with a better system, better pay, better educated, and less free loading jobs for the useless and the lazy.

It's ironic that the new cities in Dekalb were pushed for by white Republicans upset of mismanagement and corruption, but the only official convicted of corruption is a white Republican. Food for thought!

Yet again, plenty of commissioners ran unopposed. Even Stan the man Watson. Yes, the same guy that went to a bar in a shirt with the county logo on it, got drunk, accused two women, falsely, of stealing his wallet, then getting into his car in full view of a officer working a part time and driving off, before driving BACK and admitting he shouldn't be driving.....ran unopposed. For the largest district in the county. That includes areas that want to incorporate. But yes, let's add another layer of politicians. Clearly we make good decisions!

In my humble opinion the elected "leaders" of DeKalb have, for the past couple of decades, used the taxpaying citizens to fund whatever THEY thought was important, instead of what THE TAXPAYERS thought was important. These elected idiots have been completely out of touch with reality since the days of big bird Levitan.
Tell me who makes the kind of decision to sacrifice an entire business corridor like memorial drive by putting up a median down the middle of the road "because its too dangerous"?
Who would systematically destroy the #2 police department in the entire nation?
Answer.....Idiots and CRIMINALS.
Translate this into ebonics if you prefer.

Can you blame these folks for trying to split from the county???

This place is going in reverse instead of forward. 170 Roads/Drainage people resigning before X-mas and just shy of 450 by summer of 2015. This does not include any PD.

Anytime you attempt to police, you're getting your ass chewed out. When a complaint comes in that should be handled at line level, the Sgt.'s tells the public that's an I.A. complaint. In which IA threatens to write you up for not using the correct verbiage.(no fowl language, just not the right words).

Then people wonder why I sit on my ass when crime takes place?? Because NO-ONE & I mean NO-ONE has your back or will stand up for you when a bullshit complaint comes in.

Glad I'm leaving. Enough is enough.

The continued destruction of the county is particularly troubling to anyone who has invested their life and career at DeKalb County. It used to be THE PLACE to work back in the day. Somewhere in the 80's it began to lose the luster and became just another place to work, still tolerable, but not quite what it was. Today, well, I fear for those of us who spent their entire careers building on future hopes of living, working, and retiring with confidence that we would reap the benefits of our hard work and dedication. If cities continue to expand, the unincorporated areas of the county will become so miniscule as to be irrelevant. How then, will the county government fund the pension fund and meet it obligations to those who spent their lives in the service of the citizens of DeKalb? Through mismanagement it has already abdicated it's responsibility to the point that the fund is grossly underfunded. If the county shrinks it's workforce in response to less citizenry to serve, who then will they put the burden of funding upon? There won't be enough employees left to dump on to even keep up with the ongoing costs, much less allow it to grow to handle future needs. The gross incompetence, dare I say corruption, of those who manage the county will eventually infiltrate management of the pension fund itself. When that happens, we all lose, citizens, employees and retirees. Let's pray I am wrong!

"the taxpaying north side who has to support and pay for the stupid south side"- November 15, 2014 at 10:48 AM, In all communities including the venerated places like dunwoody the more valuable sections pay more in taxes and receive less is certain services like police. Maybe its because less crime occurs in those areas?

"plenty of commissioners ran unopposed:-November 16, 2014 at 4:24 AM, I completely agree and the legislature did nothing about redistricting dekalb to assure a commission that would better reflect the distinct areas of dekalb. The state decided to have white dekalb in cities and black dekalb in unincorporated.

"sacrifice an entire business corridor like memorial drive by putting up a median down the middle of the road "because its too dangerous"?-November 16, 2014 at 5:57 AM, It was the state of georgia's department of transportation.

"attempt to police, you're getting your ass chewed out"-November 16, 2014 at 12:55 PM, Actually your not policing your just demonstrating bad behaviour and even worse behaviour by sitting on your rear. It's best your leaving.

To 1255 above. The line level sends Mickey Mouse complaints to IA because they are too damn lazy to investigate them. IA should send that crap back to the line with a damn rocket and a nasty note attached to it !

North Central Precinct will be starting 12 hour shifts on Monday in anticipation of the announcement that they will not be indicting the officer in Ferguson. That's a fantastic idea! No other precinct is doing it, we have lost 2 officers on day watch alone in the past week, one to retirement, one resigned. Now we are only allowed to have 1 officer off per day on vacation etc.

Lets piss off all the officers even more by making them work 12 hour shifts during the week of Thanksgiving! It will be great for morale and officer retention!

When will this bullshit from the command staff at Center precinct stop?

NOVEMBER 20, 2014 AT 7:00PM.... no worries.... there's a retention plan in place.... take homes and soon to be announced promotional testing.

I really pity yall officers still working there. It never was easy and the insanity from Decatur and 34 never seemed to stop. Its only gotten worse. If the fools running the department even had half a clue what they were doing it would be totally different.
I feel sorry for yall young guys.

I have extra S.O applications for everybody when D.K.P.D is dissolved, seems like it is narrowing down to one street for everybody to patrol, Thank your commissioners ladies and Gents!! It really was a great place to be a Police Officer when we had leaders with BALLS!!!

Our crime stats through October compared to last year :
For the department violent crime is down 4% and property crime is down 17%.
For Center Precinct which cover Lakeside/Briarcliff, Druid Hills/Eastlake, and the Scottdale/Avondale areas the violent crime was down 3% and property crime was down 21%.
For Tucker Precinct which covers Tucker/Smokerise, Doraville/Pleasantdale and the Redan/Clarkston areas the violent crime was down 2% and property crime was down 18%.
For South Precinct which covers South DeKalb/Ellenwood, GreshamPark/Bouldercrest and the East Atlanta area the violent crime was down 5% and property crime was down 16%.
For East Precinct which covers Stonecrest and Lithonia areas the ciolent crime was up 29% and property crimes were up 27%.
This is the 3rd or 4th year there has been a drop in crime. The big bosses don't say it enough but I think the officers have done an incredible job making life a little more difficult for the criminal element.
