Former GA Attorney General Bowers to Investigate DeKalb

The AJC is reporting that Mike Bowers, Former Attorney General in Georgia, was hired by Lee May, the Interim CEO of DeKalb, to investigate corruption in DeKalb County.  May stated:
"We are willing to spend what is necessary to root out corruption. I think Mike could throw me in jail if I’m doing something wrong. This administration is willing to take on an endeavor that could possibly go even to my office, and I’m fine with that".
The investigation is slated to take at least 120 days. Bowers will have a team working to help examine documents and interview some of the 6,000 government employees. Bowers shared his goal of the investigation:
"We’re going to try to restore the public’s trust in its government. We’re going to root out conflicts of interest, corruption, malfeasance".
Bowers has ties to DeKalb, as he was resident there during his service as Attorney General. His children also graduated from DeKalb County schools.

HOORAY!!!!

I'm sure Michael Bowers has an insider's view on the troubles in DeKalb....

Let's hope they start with reviewing the fraudulently manipulated promotional testing in the PD. It has been obvious for years.

WOW and hip hip hoo-ray. Maybe now we will soon have a new Command Staff at the South Precinct that ain't up the gambler's asses in East n South DeKalb. Long Overdue = you've made the Entire Force look bad enough for long enough.

Start with zoning, permits, and business license.

He should probably start with the old public corruption unit...wasn't there a female detective that was pushed out the department?

A good starting point would be to hire this former detective.

Sutton files an open records request to see if if there is a Buffarilla investigation going on and Lee May gives her a pit bull, Mr. Mike Bowers, a very intelligent and thorough investigator.
It will not take him long to see that thi place has always been ran by the F.B.I, "Friggin Bunch of Idiots"!!!!!!!

THIS is outrageous, the taxpayers of dekalb must spend this outrageously amount of money to fine out what everyone already know,THE DA'S of dekalb WAS TOLD ABOUT THIS CORRUPTION FOR YEARS AND DID NOTHING? WHY IS THAT? LEE MAY HIRING BOWERS,THAT'S THE BIGGEST JOKE,THIS IS NOTHING BUT A COVER UP! THE COMMISSIONERS & THEIR STAFF ARE THE ONES WHO'S CORRUPT and YOU LEAVING THEM OUT,That's another joke on the taxpayers, which LEE May was one of them, why is Lee May being left out,he and boyer was the one's that made sure he got the CEO'S job with the help of the governor,We need to clean Dekalb's counties house and not until these criminals are sent to jail. will this county be some what clean.

I hope he goes back to the year 2000 !

Michael Bowers can start with the DeKalb Police Dept. Ask the South Precinct Commander and the entire Command Staff why they have sold out to the gamblers in East and South DeKalb Destroying our neighborhoods robbing our fellow citizens blind with their illegal operations and that includes drugs and prostitution.

Richard Hyde actually busted former Congressman Julian Bond in the 1980's and his girlfriend for drug dealing. As the investigator on this it could prove interesting to look at all of those "extra jobs" and who runs them.

Bowers is investigating and Boyer is singing to the Feds, Just Damn!!!

Thanks CEO May for doing something Burrell turned his back on, corruption. Let's start with permits, zoning, business licenses, and all the kickbacks.

Finally, the time has come for heads to roll, or better yet, get indicted.

Mr. Bowers did an excellent job at the state level, and rest assured, he will do very well at making sure that crooks in DeKalb County are now running scared. From the heads of departments, including judges (one of which has bitten the dust) to those who think they will remain in power.

As the Eveley Brothers sang, "Bye, Bye Love......."

How fast will the permit and business license department go down?

Nothing's gonna happen.

This investigation sounds good on the surface but did you know that Bowers does not have the authority or approval to investigate the BOC or the CEO's office? This is being paid for out of the CEO's budget (ultimately, the taxpayers of DeKalb). How can this investigation root out corruption in DeKalb if the main players are excluded from being investigated? Answer: It can't. Disappointing to say the least.

So help me understand. The CEO is authorizing millions of dollars to investigate corruption in Dekalb Co. But the investigators have no authority to look into the Commisioners???? Hmmmmm what's the point again? Oh yea smoke and mirror political game for next election for the CEO position...I get it Mr. May well played sir that will make you look good to the voters...

They need to go back to the mid 1990's when this county was completely sold out to the criminals. It just took a while to really take hold. Dont just treat the symptom...treat the disease this time. About the time when the Olympics ended is when it really started to go downhill fast. About 2000 is when the hammer really came down, but the illness started several years before then.
You will never convince me that Liane Levetan didnt hand the entire county over to the criminals at the end of her term. She even came to every precinct and spoke to every single watch at roll call and tried to explain herself. I remember...I was there. And she refused to answer any questions that probed into WHY and WHAT exactly she was doing and WHAT those meetings were about. Surely I am not the only one who remembers that.
In hindsight it is obvious....She was letting us know she was giving the whole county away to the criminals.
Mr Bowers....start there!

Where are the $ millions $ still missing from Recorders Court?

Why was the corruption unit disbanded ? They need to be interviewed.

This investigation will probably be handled in the same way the most recent pay and classification study went. Does anyone have any idea where the pay and classification study findings are hidden? That too cost the citizens of DeKalb a small fortune. CEO May? FOP? Anyone?

If Bowers does not investigate the BOC, this will just be another farce investigation...and how about the millions lost by recorders court and I to remember Levitan visiting the pct roll calls with Burgess.

The pay and classification study is in the back of a soon to be delivered patrol car with the results of the Promotional Testing RFP, a county pension contribution and a pay raise.

DKPD has always been corrupt. The old guard just knew how to hide it. One night, out of the blue, I was assigned to guard a construction site, 12-8, and found out that the off duty supervisor was getting paid $15/hr. for the job while he slept. Crooked promotion testing?? Stand by for more from me.

So are the new USDA and Elaine Boyer dating now, must be all wet and sloppy these two for the sentence she got and where she will spend it.

DeKalb County is screwed with corruption for the last two USDAs did nothing to curb Public Corruption and the Heroine Crisis in the Metro area with DeKalb's DA doing God Know What except that it did not include protecting DeKalb's Citizens from crooked stealing POS politicians.

Attorney Mike Bowers bought down APS, now what do you think he will do with Dekalb County? Chew Dekalb County up and spit them out. Go Bowers! I will have shirts with Team Bowers, who want too place an order?

Don't forget the FBI is currently knee deep in their own Federal investigation of corruption. Dekalb crooks have to be sweating bullets.

You just don't know where to start. I say start from the bottom and work your way up. Crooks are doing early retirement because they are afraid of the Hammer. Mike Bowers as Hammer! And Bowers does not discriminate.

Blah blah blah...I've heard that since I graduated from the academy... They've been saying that since before our new officers graduated from high school.

Lots of talk about the big file on Vernon etc.... Nothing's ever materialized.

Hopefully Mike Bowers will also be looking into the court system.
How does Judge Hunter let a convicted felon go on insufficiency of evidence, when they were caught with plenty of evidence? Evidence in their house and in their car. Their car was taken (forfeited) from them in Fulton County during the same arrest. You guys just really fucked the neighbors over, as usual.

The entire justice system is corrupt. No one that is with DeKalb County should be proud of this.

And you wonder why everyone wants to create their own City.
