The wow....the top just became very crowded, where in the hell are we putting all these command staff people. we are so top heavy we don't have enough officers for all of these people to be in charge of. who will actually work and handle calls and cases while the command staff sits around finding things to screw with officers about. This makes no sense to me and I have lost hope in Lumpkin, he must be blind and senile in his old age. U.F.B.

So now let's see who is being, demoted, umm maybe start with Capt. Williams the reasons are long and plentiful. Then maybe Major. Medlin and Major Rutland adultery is against the law. how about Catlin since he was never a Captain or a Major. Why do we need so many Asst Chiefs I think Uniform, CID, And Special ops is enough. why are we promoting officers who have had EEOC complaints filed on them and Sexual harassment complaints filed on them?

the county can promote officers and give big pay raises but they can't pay the officers what they deserve. how about taking care of the officers who are keeping this county going the veterans who have been here for years and was not included in the adopted pay scale. congratulations to everyone promoted. I challenge anyone of you to make your voice heard and be a leader that the officers can respect and will work hard for, to plead our case and tell someone we need to be paid what we were promised. this bullshit of being lied to and used is getting old and I hope every officer will unite and take a stand even if it means the blue flu. no will fight for us so let's take it into our own hands.

It seems that hiring and subsequently paying to retain the best qualified officers would be paramount. After all, incompetent officers will ultimately cause lawsuits that will undoubtedly travel up the newly created chain of command putting all of their supervisors assets at risk. Choose wisely.

The previous post is right on, the problem with Dekalb is our county government does not care about quality only quantity. Furthermore they do not take care of the officers especially the veterans. They pay you a decent starting salary and they tell you you will reach top pay f 72000 in 10 years. This is a lie, we have numerous veterans who have been here 18 plus years and are barely making 61000. So you spend 20 tp 30 years working hard doing the right thing and you are lied to and cheated out of what you were promised. They also go up on your benefits plans so the 3 and 4% ever now and then is not a real raise it all goes to pay the high insurance.
Please do not come to work here, the command staff and Public safety director will not stand with you or fight for you. The commissioners do not care about first responders, They only care about themselves hence their 60% pay raise.

As a tax paying citizen of Dekalb County it causes to great concern on the status of the police Department and the quality of service provided based on what I read on this blog.

The dangers of that job in that particular county are well established in that if injury or worse occurs to any officer when a supervisor wasn't there to back him/her up then they would certainly be liable. Being that "top heavy" as you say can come back to bite you rather than creating more obedient county minions as intended.
