Rumor is the new Police Chief is Mirtha Ramos from Miami Dade, and they are glad to get rid of her for several reasons. Based on all the comments on the Miami Dade law enforcement forum all the negative comments about her are disturbing. what does this mean for Dekalb police and why bring someone in who is surrounded by controversy.

I am not one to judge on rumors, I have read the forum from Miami-Dade and all the comments are very negative about her, Inwpuld like to think it is just a handful of disgruntled officers making these comments. It appears that that is not the case , it appears she quite a controversial women and creates low morale and discontent wherever she has worked in the department. I hope I can hold on 6 more years so I can retire.

It must be a N O B L E connection involved in this hiring.

I’m guessing we will have a new direction and slogan from the new Chief that we will have to learn and
more promises to the citizens that we can never deliver or come close too accomplishing. We will play the game until the next election and a new Chief is appointed. At least Bolton realized we needed more money to survive and today who wants this job. The smart officers. Just tea not to survive. If they want more officers change the retirement program back to the 70’s.

Remember what Dallas gave us. At the Washington DC memorial the Dallas officers were laughing when Dekalb officers mentioned T-BO !

Dekalb will go the way of every other dem run corrupt govt., prison sentences and bankruptcy. It's a shame voters there are stuck on stupid.

Miami-Dade officers are laughing at us now, they say she is a micro manager and enjoys writing officers up and firing them. So we are the lowest paid agency in the metro area and we have the highest turn over rate and highest crime rate and the CEO and commissioners do not care about the officers at all. Why would anyone want to work here especially now that they are bringing in someone that will make things worse.

If we do get a new chief I can only hope whoever it is will give Chief Yarbrough his walking papers, this guy is such a political ass kisser it and s an embarrassing ugly black eye for the department. He will do anything to keep his rank, He preaches about being fair and honest, but he is nothing close to that. If he was the religious man that he claims to be then he would look in the mirror and be honest with himself instead f being a fake individual.

I have never worked for Yarbrough but I have heard the horror stories, I just want our leaders to treat us better and pay us comparable to other agencies.

I am sure the new female Chef will get rid of him along with the others who have the time to retire.

It’s funny the command staff gets all bent out of shape when they are mentioned on this blog and tries to say it’s just a few disgruntled officers making the comments, but the truth is they hate to see the reality of how they are thought of and how they treat people. When you do people wrong KARMA will get you .

Most of the personal stories about officers that are posted on here are just made up bull shit rumors and I'm not sure it serves a purpose. However when it comes to the moral of the department and the cesspool of dysfunctional idiots that are at the level of chief at the DKPD, the comments are on target most of the time. The truth is that the department suffers from very poor leadership and it is a depressing place to work.
It is hard to believe that the CEO thinks that this woman from Miami is the solution to the tremendous problems that are embedded in the DKPD. 99% chance she lacks the leadership skills to make positive change at this department. I'm not against having a woman as the chief. But please give us someone who is qualified.

This doesn't look like a good choice, but on the bright side, Chiefs around here only last 2 or 3 years. In two or three years, we'll all get to complain about her replacement.

It didnt work out good for Hillary lol

So Sht. White is now Chief Yarbrough aid, isn’t he the same chief white use to both his and complain about for all the stupid paperwork and things we had to do on swat.

It’s not just Yarbrough it will s all the command staff. After the rank of Lt. you must sell your soul to the politics of the county. If you want to go any higher you must give them your values and morals and spine in a bag so they can manipulate you however they want. Yes Yarbrough is an egomaniac and needs to go but the others are just as bad. Major Lewis use to be approachable but now he thinks he is God as well. We can’t change the command staff we can only come to work and do our job the best we can. I pray one day we will be treated and compensated for our dedication and hard work.

Hey did you mean Sgt. White, please proof read or get someone to help you type before posting.

I recall a time when this agency was top notch. It's sad to see that it's in decline as per some of the officers. Police work should be rewarding to every individual who puts on that uniform and badge, police work is not self-serving, it's to help and serve others in need. Perhaps many of you need to take a step back and re-evaluate your career and life choices. Life is actually what you make it and complaining will not change the present situation. It is very much a thankless job but one thank you is worth more that a ton of "attaboys". When I had contact with DeKalb County Police, they were very professional in helping me retrieve my motorcycle but that was in the 80's as I was stationed in Georgia at the time. I even considered joining but I couldn't perform the sit and reach portion but nevertheless, I'm sworn in another state. I ask that each of you who wear the uniform to reach deep down within yourself and ask yourself "Is this the job for me? be honest with yourself or is it just another paycheck rather than a career. Remember the oath of office to serve the people and not the command staff. There are people who need you and you have a commitment to fulfil and yes there are people who will thank you. I thank you for all you do. Don't let the job work you, you work the job! God bless each and every one of you.

I reached out to some fellow FOP officers in Miami Dade and asked them to not be bias but realistic on the new chief, I was very surprised to hear how she has to prove to officers she is in control by being a micro manager and by talking down to all of her subordinates, she actually said in a town hall meeting that her subordinates feared her. This is the leader you want for your police department. My fellow brothers and sisters in blue we are in big trouble.

This place is better than Jerry springer or any reality tv show....holy shit Dekalb county is screwed up.

Hurricane Mirtha is moving fast from Florida and expected to make land fall in Dekalb county, experts say she is a category 10 which will result in total annihilation.

I like it when they promote when a academy graduates and then we are still short on man-power to answer calls. We are always top heavy ,when we should be street strong.

I guess she will be no different than the "God Doctor" Cedric Alexander was....hell he stood in front of the entire Special Operations Division at the old Burgess Bldg on the 2nd floor and the words from his own mouth were, "I am GOD....I can do whatever I want"....I damn near fell outta my chair cause I really couldn't believe what I had just heard...the man truly believed that shit......and every officer in that room that day heard him. I knew on that day that this place will never be the same.

At one time it was a Great Dept. and you were proud of it but I have never in all of my career seen so many coat-tail riders scrambling around trying to figure out who to hook their little wagon to....it's PATHETIC !!

Hey, just remember...."If you AIN'T 1st then you're LAST"...

If only we had someone in the dept. to promote to Chief, like Gwinnett PD did. Yarbrough and Porter need to smell the coffee.
