Not a bad gun, glad to see we're going to a .40. The new weapon has a tac rail, but my money say's that DKPD will not let us up a mounted light on it cause they won't get the proper holsters for them. They probably won't even allow us to pay for the right holsters ourselves. This weapon could be a lot more tactical than our out-dated 92's but then again, we're talking about DeKalb here.

hey a step in the right direction!

Darn, glad to see the .40 but I was hoping for the Glock, the Sig or Springfield Armory.

Any word on the roll out time frame and if we'll be able to purchase our Barett (for sentimental reasons....to pass on to grandkid)?

Is this official or just through the grapevine?

Has there been a manual change issued or a formal announcement?

Better much official. The S & W should arrive soon, probably starting with the academy's as in days past. The county has to purchase the holsters. S & W is trading out the Berettas.

Those guns will probably be distributed in a couple of years when they are out dated.

Ha, do guns really get "outdated"? How long has the 92 been around? Anyway, I'm personally I'm glad to see us making the move to the 40. Long past due if you ask me.

Only way MPO's will get the new guns is if they break their beretta's.

Is this the same pistol that APD had to return because the frames were cracking?

A neighbor from APD said that due to the large number of rounds they put down range in practice, their SWAT team was the first to begin having problems.

The absolute worst gun of the three. An absolute pain to take down, requiring a specialty tool that is easily lost. Best trigger pull of the lot, but the Beretta 90-2 was a better choice. Any adavantage to having a .40 is lost because of the inadequate ammo. We were better off with the old high velocity 9mm ammo, now discontinued. We can't get the good ammo because it'll penetrate our vests, and we won't upgrade our vests. Inadequate gun, with inadequate ammo to go with our inadquate vests. Typical.

The Glock quote was too expensive and I was told the Sig 40 been having some problems with excessive misfires..about time they decided, the range is about out of Berettas...I hear they only have about 20 left..they were supposed to be teaching us to shoot the S & W in upcoming inservice. They gonna roll them out soon, though, rumor is the academy that was scheduled to start in April been pushed back to October for budgetary reasons.

so im assuming we cant get the .40 until we get new vests?? is that accurate? im still a year or so away from getting a new vest.

"Inadequate gun, with inadequate ammo to go with our inadquate vests. Typical." If you check your facts you will find a new weapon has not been decided on. So we don't have ammo or new weapons to comment on. If you check you will find the department has upgraded a majority of the department members vest to IIIA and continues to do so. When we post inaccurate information we only hurt each other.

I'm at least three years from getting a new vest and the reason we downgraded on the 9mm ammo is because the majority of us still have the IIA vests.

I'm glad to see the upgrade. I'm sticking with my personal Glock .45 for myself.

What kind of holster are we getting?

Recommend a Insight Procyon XTI tac light with a Safariland 6360 ALS holster designed to accomodate a weapon with a light on it. Fast, secure, holster.
