"The best training I've ever had!" Lieutenant S.J. Foster

Shadowing your equivalent in rank with a police department that is 4 times the size of your own, is the best training you have ever had?

The media has exposed even more of Bolton's wasteful spending. At a time when officers do not have cars to get in to go to work, expired ballistic vest, no Tasers, outdated weapons and a broken down computer system, TeBo wants to spend $85,0000 dollars by sending lieutenants and above to Houston.

Exactly what was the training? Free tickets to the Astro's game? A night of heavy drinking?

Why didn't the media ask more pointed questions about the training?

What does Houston possibly have to offer us? Surely Bolton and the commissioners remember the study done in 2006 by the Brown Group International at a cost of over $300,000.00. Of course this massive and possibly illegal payment was only learned after the KMPG study and Grand Jury findings.

And where is the Brown Group International from? Right, Houston!

Here is a brief synopsis of the report: "This report represents the culmination of BGI's efforts to assess the Department's operation status. The material contained within this report has been organized in accordance with six major operational topics:
Performance Expectations, Accountability, Service Demands, Deployment of Personnel, Examining Performance and Organizational Configuration". Our folks can learn more by riding around with some Houston officer?

Why did Bolton send his lackey's in front of the media to try and explain this away? How come Bolton was not in front of the camera? Is he on vacation? Or is he too busy working on the next "qualified" promotion?

Dont worry Helms and Foster we know you were made to go in front of the camera or you too would be working the property room, animal control or communications. Hows the kool-aide?

Yes, please do tell what training you received that was so valuable. Specific details would be nice but of course there won't be any forthcoming. Why? Because as others have said privately this so called training is a joke. Again shame on both of you, Chief Helms and Lt. Foster, again lack of strong leadership has hit our department. Guess that kool aide is good for drinking down a certain anatomy part both of you seem to be missing.

Why don't we just send our supervisors to Atlanta PD? It looks like their Lt's have alot going on since we keep hiring them as Majors and Chiefs.

You know what, why even care, I give up!

I've searched all over the Houston P.D. webpage and cannot find anything about ICP or a Magic Bus.

Yes,inquiring minds want to know.

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DID YOU HAVE IN HOUSTON?

You would think a synopsis of the training would have been a big part of the story. It just sat there and begged to be asked.

Idiots...I'm surrounded by idiots.

Do we have to send a police officer or seasoned detective over to Channel 2 to teach the investigative reporter how to do her job.

Better yet, she needs to go to their Houston counterpart for OJT (on the job training). She could learn by doing a ride along.

I'm sure their Houston affiliate would not have left that major piece of the story out there dangling.

Go back to Journalism 101.

Hey Chief Helms, the Commander of the Training Division, is there an itinerary somewhere for this training?

Just wait 'till Margarita Williams hits town.

Interesting... a little research on the Houston Police Dept reveals that Lee Brown, founder the Brown Group International, was once chief of police for Houston.

Was the cost of this training (plus a minor consulting fee) funneled through his company, the Brown Group? Is it possible that Bolton is engratiating himself with the Brown Group?

Also, I had to laugh.

If you look at the below link under the Modern times section, you will see that Lee Brown earned the moniker "Out of Town Brown" during his tenure as chief. Guess Bolton was taking notes.

Well if that the best training he has ever had, looks like we need to bring in a new DeKalb Police training program.
Then those who know Lt. Foster have a better understanding of his outstanding career at the police department.

Everything is political if you don't bend over and play along, you get transferred/demoted. They did what they had to, to keep their positions. This is what Dekalb has become, merit means nothing but threats mean everything.
To all the ones that suffered or were punished...Keep your heads up!

I loved the trip, long drive though. Two nights of riding shotgun with Houston's best. Third night at a beer fest party sponsered by DKPD. Last day shopping the big town and got me a big hat.
Best training I've ever attended.

Only thing Houston and DeKalb have in common is the Katrina refugees and their violence.
