Former Major and now Captain Lisa Gasner has been assigned to the Property and Evidence Section.
A yet to be named Lieutenant has been transferred to the property and evidence section. That puts in place 1 Captain, 1 Lieutenant, 3 Sergeants and 2 Master Patrol Officers.
Former Major and now Captain Bill O’Brien has been assigned to the Special Victim’s Unit, not before being told to report to the Property and Evidence Section. Once there he discovered Captain Gasner already there. (Incompetent decision making is rampant).
A yet to be named Lieutenant has been transferred to command the School Crossing Guards.
A yet to be named Lieutenant has been transferred to the Communications Section, putting in place 2 Captains and 1 Lieutenant.
At least 2 more Lieutenants are being involuntarily transferred from precinct to precinct.
Word is several people have turned down the “voluntary” trip to Houston. We know Gasner and O’Brien were demoted to make room for the 2 new Majors hired from APD.
Is this just a warning shot to the other persons who turned down the expensive ill-conceived training trip to Houston?

I can hear the swirling coming from the T bowl.
Lt MP Manikowski-Transferred to School Crossing Guards
Lt DF "Doug" Wilson- Transferred to Communications.
Both were the North Precinct Morning Watch Lieutenants.
Well congratulations, is it possible that we could turn into Atlanta PD any quicker? I hear the "new" Major assigned to CID is going to start looking at our FBI/UCR numbers and start adjusting them. Well, well didn't Atlanta have a little scandal about that in the Mayor Campbell/Chief Harvard days? Maybe it's time for those in the news media to start some investigative reporting into our department. We need a reporter like Dale Cardwell to start snooping around. I'd start in the hours our chief is actually working against when he is in the Atlanta area. His family is still not moved here, don't you find that strange??? Also everyone says how the chief will be replaced with the new CEO, I thought the chief was a merit position???
Lt. Manikowski is atleast a 20 year veteran of our police department and has spent his time in the uniform division. Please explain to me how a man with that kind of experience is sent to the School Crossing Guards. Is this a joke? If it is I'm not laughing. You sir deserve an apology.
Apologies also need to go out to Captain's Stathis, Gassner, Lane-Woodard, T Lane, O'Brien, Jagoe, and ya know what I'll just include anyone who has proudly worn the DKPD patch and now is being forced to endure this level of incompetence. Enough is enough don't you think?
I keep hearing help is on the way, well that's what Custer and those poor fella's at the Alamo thought too and they didn't fare so well, I have a feeling neither will we.
I have been following this blog for several weeks and I cannot believe how far the DKPD has fallen. I grew up in Tucker and when I was a teenager DKPD was the most respected department in the area. I dreamed of joining the ranks but when I was old enough a veteran officer told me to stay away. I thank GOD for the men and women who remain in the face of such incompetence.
I've written this post and deleted it twice.
The problem with the leadership at Dekalb is that their is no pride or desire to be the best. We no longer have high standards and ideals.
DKPD is more interested in titles, positions, and all the perks you can get out of the system.
That last sentence is not just about Bolton and Co., but the entire department.
Bolton and his crew have their white shirts, offices, cars, titles etc... regular officers have their badge. They can (and in some cases feel they are entitled to) do things the average citizen would get spanked for.
I blame the command staff for not striving for and calling all officers to reach for a higher level.
There is no accountability. We look the other way on the small stuff because moral is so low that we don't want to make it worse. What scares me is that little stuff leads to big stuff.
Officers have lost their pride and do the minimum. Officers don't believe if being held to a higher standard or reaching for the next bar.
It's all about me. Their "calling to be the best" has come and gone. Graham, Bolton and Vernon have shown them a new way.
May the Lord have mercy on this department and send us a good chief.
Maybe Dekalb will also rise up from the ashes.
ALL HAIL TEBO...SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS...IT COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED TO A BETTER LIEUTENANT...THE ONLY GOOOOOOOD DECISION HE'S MADE ALL YEAR....NO MORE RATH OF LT. MANACATASTROPHY
Lt. Manikowski to supervise school crossing guards??? A 75 year old retired female school cafeteria lunch lady (no offence to the lunch lady, just making a point) could do that job. Lt. Manikowski is one of the top supervising line level people on the force with vast police experience. There seems to be too many qualified police officers and supervisors in odd assignments...animal control, property , communications??? These are jobs that civilians have been doing and can do very well. DKPD needs all healthy experienced sworn people on the road or in CID..What the hell is going on there these day's????
typical. Keep adding to communications more folks who know nothing about it instead of putting people there who are communications training, and are experts in their field.
No wonder it has the problems it does in all areas
Also Lt Wilson is a 20+ year veteran of Uniform, instructor certified in almost everything and spent a number of years on SWAT. I went through one of his rifle classes that he was "voluntarily" teaching. Best damn firearms instructor I ever had.
Sgt Tirado is now in Homeland, wait for the headlines!
Dekalb has become the joke of all police departments and this further proves it. Great officers are being punished because they're not with the "in crowd" or won't just bend over and take it.
Lt. Wilson was transferred because he couldn't volunteer to go to Houston because he puts his family first and has to take care of his handicapped child. Now another great officer/leader is off the road. THANKS! One of the few Lts. left in uniform that had a backbone.
Nothing is based on merit anymore. We might as well put the criminals on the streets to replace the good officers. Wait they already do. They wonder why officers are leaving and why morale is low. Look at what's going on!
......Houston.....we have a problem !
Lt. Manikowski is bi-lingual and worked morning watch in a hispanic community riddled with violent crimes, and you send a man with that type of credentials to the crossing gaurd?!?! WTF!!!
Then there's Lt. Wilson, he's a hell of a LT., 10 years on SWAT and a patrol rifle instructor yet he get sent to communications.
Good way to keep moral up when we're loosing officers left and right. DKPD has no idea how many are about to jump ship, Sandy Springs loves DKPD officers and Dunwoody will too.
Lt Manikowski must be a pretty good supervisor. By the above comment, not everybody likes him. Probably a sign that Manikowski actually does his job as he should.
Seeing Lt Wilson and Lt Manokowski transferred is akin to watchin your brother get a spanking.. its funny but then u remember that you're next..
God bless Lt Wilson...
In regards to Mano it couldn't have happened to a better person.
Sandy Springs here I come!!!
DKPD needs a big flush at the top after Jones is gone. Flush 'em all down the drain and get professional people that know what they are doing before you loose your police department to apathy and incompetence. Intelligent leadership and good supervision is the key to sucess in a police department. Tell the politicians to keep hands off;that was the beginning of the downfall.
