From the desk of Dekalb Officers:

It is great a park has been named after Officers Bryant and Barker. We pray for their children. But we wish Step would get the same type of recognition. But as long a Vernon is still here, (thank God only 2 more months) and has his arm up Tebo’s ass like the puppet he is, nothing will happen.

We all know Vernon got his immature feelings hurt when Stepnowski’s family asked no elected officials be invited to the funeral. Vernon holds a grudge, and Bolton will never recognize the sacrifice made by Step for the citizens of this county.

We posted the story of the park being renamed just as a news story and nothing more. We are all still very hurt, saddened and frustrated by Stepnowskis’ death. He meant a lot to a large number of us.

Some of the posts being monitored are showing this frustration. We honor Step and will not allow his name or death to be used in any negative way. The reasons no one has stepped up to honor Dennis are what they are.

It is the citizens who must demand recognition of Step.

I am still PROUD to call myself a Dekalb County Police Officer. Every class I ever took, every where I went..when asked "Where do you work?"....I said it with pride. "I work for Dekalb Police."...I get sad each and every time I think of the officers we have lost in the line of duty. Black, white, men, and a woman. But to think that politics kept Step from being honored the way a hero should be,just as the other officers we have lost are being honored, sickens me. I am discusted at the obvious!! It is wat it is. Bryant, Barker, Ann, and Step and all the other brothers we have lost...you are all equal and you are all heros. And I don't need a park or a street sign or a building to remind me of that. I am reminded each and every time I put on my uniform. And I thank you all for that.
