1. Suspended Terrell Bolton with termination and/or criminal charges imminent.
2. Fired Keisha Williams.
3. Named William “Bill” O’Brien Acting Chief of Police.

This latest move, only a few hours old, has given this department a badly needed shot in the arm, raising hopes, if not morale somewhat. It is our opinion, and the opinion of many, Burrell Ellis could not have chosen a better person. We hope and pray now Acting Chief O’Brien will be named as the permanent successor to Bolton.
A/C O’Brien who worked his way up from a patrolman working a beat in South Precinct, is probably one of the fairest men in the department. And here lays the problem for all of Bolton’s command staff. O’Brien, if allowed, will analyze each of the command staff’s qualifications and current positions. This is when the inept, over promoted, non-loyal to DeKalb County will be exposed.
First order of business for A/C O’Brien should be to get a broom, mop and bucket and start cleaning house!

Yes in deed it is time for a new start. It is time to start over. Get rid of the silly gray and black uniforms and cars. We need to go back to standard P.D. blue uniforms and dark blue cars.
The gray and black color's have been nothing but bad luck for this department!
What goes around comes around. God bless America ! O'Brien is a nice guy, hopefully not too nice to do what really needs to be done. "You have to break a few eggs to make real mayonaise " !
AMEN TO A NEW START,
Appointing Major O'Brien as the new acting chief is the best thing to happen to Dekalb Police in the last few years. Major O'Brien is one of the nicest people I've met in the department. During one of his weeks as duty commander, he pulled up on my traffic stop and offer to 10-96 someone for me while I waited for the tow truck with my suspect in the back. Now, when is the last time you've seen a major out on the road (not enroute to a high profile call or emergency).
A/C O'Brien hasn't done one thing yet and I already feel better about the department.
I think there is nothing wrong with the uniform colors or the color of the cars. We dont have enough of either of them. I have been here for over a decade and some change is good. We dont look like everyone else. Ben Dover maybe you need to look in the mirror and change the person that is wearing the uniform. Most of your posting on the blog is about you crying about something. There has been a major change in the department with A/C O'Brien and the first posted comment is you crying about a dam color of the uniform and cars. People dont like people who complain all the time about the little stuff. You will never go anywhere in this department crying all the time. People dont want that type of negative reactions around them. A/C O'Brien is one of us. So i need all of the DKPD officers and detectives to do the right thing and do our jobs on another level and make him look good so that the public will have our back when the time comes.
HERE HERE! Bill O'Brien is one of the most fair, honest, and intelligent members of DKPD - I truly doubt you'd find anyone who would tell you otherwise. He has held his head high and done the right thing through the last few tumultuous years (especially the last two) and handled himself with dignity, professionalism, and integrity. CEO Ellis must have been talking to the right people to name him Acting Chief - I just hope he's named permanently.
Also, congratulations to Ellis as well for Keisha Margarita...hopefully TeBo is right behind her!!!
Bolton asks GBI to investigate.
Now if that isn't a crock of bull, I don't know what is.
GBI didn't step in when we had an 87 (domestic violence) involving to Dekalb Police officers when they were trying to sweep it under the rug....
GBI didn't step in on any of the cases that involved a well placed person's using GCIC/NCIC for personal purposes....
GBI didn't step in when a detective used their position to get DMV photographs of driver.....
What makes Bolton think they'll jump in on this Tit for Tat request for them to go investigate the CEO.
Asking for that is the epitome of arrogance!
It looks like Chief Bolton has decided to ask the GBI to step in on the investigation (and to expand that investigation to include the CEO as well).

What is worse is that in the comments the citizens seem to be defending the Chief. (As if taking five months off in two years is in any way reasonable or defensible for a Chief of Police.)
I fear that the Chief is going to do exactly what he did in Dallas, tie up county time and funds in a ridiculous lawsuit. If only he would simply recognize that nobody wants him here and resign.
I am elated that we now have a very professional, responsible, and intelligent person at the Helm. I salute Acting Chief O'Brien. Now we need to down size the amount of Chiefs that we have. Signed SET.
Well for starters I don't believe that Bolton has the authority to request the GBI come in. He's been relieved of duty, his credentials taken away. He doesn't have the power to make such a request. If I'm wrong someone correct me but I don't believe that just anyone can request that the State can step in on an administrative investigation or criminal investigation unless asked by the leading law enforcement officer of that dept or by the Governor..... He has no police powers since he was placed on leave and definitely no Chief powers...It just goes to show his ineptness
I just want to say to King Rancid..AKA Rancidfer...clearly the propaganda you were spreading that you were going to be the next Chief and/or Director of Public Safety was hogwash, as I have said from the very beginning. You were passed over as Acting Chief, along with all of the other bootlickers up there on the 4th floor. Do us all a favor and resign now, you know you will never survive here as a Lieutenant, you have screwed over way too many folks.
