To Be Auctioned!

Soon to be auctioned at the next DeKalb County surplus vehicle auction: 5 American Eagle Recreation Vehicles valued at 2.5 million dollars at the time of purchase. These vehicles were used by a now twice terminated chief of police in his ill-conceived Interactive Community Policing initiative.

The vehicles, formerly known as "Magic Buses" proved to have no magic at all.

They are currently being stripped of any and all police markings to be readied for the auction block. It will interesting to see the hosing the taxpayers of DeKalb County will take.

Maybe with the money they get from the auction they can buy us some new units. Like they should've done in the first place. Ol'T-Bolt will be at the auction i'm sure to get a great deal on some busses for his venture to D.C. make sure you get them registered....unless your in Albany of course then your buddy VJ can bail you out!! VJ....what a disgrace... hang it up your gonna be enroute soon c'mon feds whats the hold up?

LoFlyer here, what about the Command RV? Is it being auctioned also? That would be the one I would hang on to. A half a million in expensive commo gear is nothing to be sold at the auction block!

Sandy Springs Maj.Bertrand was at North precinct last week looking to buy one. I hope it serves them better than it did us.
But I must admit sitting there an entire shift and getting paid wasn't a bad gig if your a sorry ass.
Rock On Chief O'Brien!

Another FAILED Bolton initiative. I hope the next good news is that O'Brien is going to seek out an entire new Executive Cabinet for the department.

Laptops,Patrol Cars and a New Dispatch Program....that's what we should spend the money on!

You can't effectively offer basic 911 service without them.

The line cars are reaching a point where the vast majority have over 110K miles! The laptops are underpowered, don't have working touch screens, and have buttons that don't function.

Bring back the old software. I could see where my partners are, the call my partners are on and I could run perps and tags.

The new software is so bad, someone either made a really, bad decision or got a kickback. They're either incompetent or corrupt. Fire or prosecute them!.....whichever is appropriate.

I hear O'B is only getting rid of 3 buses, he will keep the other 2 and retrofit them as true police command/mobile precincts. And we are keeping the #1 bus, the one with the blue and red on it, it is actually a true command vehicle and was bought way before TeBo ever showed up. I am not sure of the legality of using the money earned by selling the 3 buses..seized funds can only be used for "items not usually found it a regular budget". Cars, laptops and such are in a regular budget. We will see. Needless to say, the 300,000 apiece that was spent on them will NOT be recouped, we will be lucky to get 100,000 apiece. Thanks for the waste, TeBo!!

Hmm, are there five on this blog with an excess 20 grand who want to bid on the things? RV'ing is a lot of fun and owning a share of one sounds a lot easier than shelling out a 100 grand for one of these big beauties.

if that money can only be used for none budget items then why ae so many other departments getting away with spending it on thing that officers really need and we can't what is going on in Dekalb that it is so backwards that we can spend it on girls gone wild tour buses but not on actual police gear
