Blue Uniforms...Blue Uniforms...Blue Uniforms......Blue Uniforms. Do you know how awesome we would be - Men in Blue is a Coming.
And I am still asking......when did these "gray" shirts start? Whose idea was that???
Let's get back to who we are...MEN IN BLUE!!!!!

These hideous uniforms were the brain child of former DKPD Ted Paxton, who is now Sheriff of Forsyth County. He is the same one who put us in BDU’s and shorts.
He took the Forsyth deputies out of their standard beige and brown uniforms and put them in green.

Well they are pathetic. They fade terribly, get a little sweet on them and now you have purple lines around the collar, and below the vest.
We have bigger problems around here but this would be a step in the right direction, although it would be costly.
Heck I'd buy my own if they said we could just to look professional again.
I was never reffered to as a security guard in my career until we started wearing these.

Well Paxton is gone and the crappy Gray shirts should be gone too We are police officers ( BLUE, Thin BLUE LINE, tradition..etc etc etc...not Sheriffs deputies. Go Blue.

I am all for blue. But care to do the math on new uniforms for 1000 +\- people?

I want to change the culture of our department. I want the morale of the department to return to where it was before Vernon Jones. I want a significant improvement in the essential equipment that we use every day. I want new leadership to include an entire new command staff. Notice that I said an ENTIRE new command staff Chief O’Brien and Director Miller. If you simply change half of the command staff then I will half way respect you! If all of these things are done THEN we can turn our attention to the uniforms. We must remember priorities!

Well Slamin Ethel...I got you a question. Now,I do agree with the purple around the neck and vest but, hmmmm, I don't know where you been going or what you been doing to get a "little sweet" on yours...but if you could let me know.....I think I might prefer me a little sweet on mine too....Since all I do is sweat and stink........

Merit increases, more cars, more equipment, new uniforms...hmmm, decisions, decisions. Granted, the gray uniforms are awful but if that is on the top of Ellis', Miller's, or O'Brien's priority list, we are all in serious trouble.

I stood back and watched Tebo and Vernon ruin this department......wow all you wusses didn't say a word....(were you scared or controlled?). With this help of this blog and "my" bitching, we got rid of those two. And believe me, IF you are reading all the blogs, you will know that I am bitching about alot more than just shirts....I just ain't sweeping nothing under the rug this go round. And hey, its a blog.....I can bitch about shirts, cars, Rancid - oops, I mean Rancifer or whatever suits my fancy....That's why I love this blog.

Hey, calm down Big Picture. We are just giving opinions/ideas on some of the things that would boost the morale of the department. Someone else's opinion...may not be yours. Take home cars, officers eating together, recess memos....I myself agree with the blue shirts. I've seen cities/counties/states with "Men in Blue". I think they stand out better and get more respect/attention, (besides, lil kids love those officers in blue). But the gray shirts....nah, just put a hoodie on and you'll mingle right in with the crowd.......

Moody put us in the grey shirts, not Paxton. Paxton wasn't high enough in the food chain to pull that one off. The shorts were Burgess's idea for the Olympics, and he thought the BDUs might be more useful then polyester.

In the past 20 years DeKalb County has gone from being one of the premiere police department to the laughing stock. And all you guys can do is bitch about shirts....seriously???? No wonder nothing will ever really change!

The whole point of this blog is to provide a forum for officers to vent. In many cases the only other place we make our opinions known is amongst ourselves (and where has that gotten us?). At least here the public, politicians, and the command staff will see how we feel.

If people want to bitch about uniforms, let them...things like leadership, vehicles, service weapons, and tasers have gotten a lot of attention here (deservedly so). However, more than a few people care to express their opinions about what we wear. Perhaps a uniform change can just be a small part of helping to get this place back to where it used to be. If a new uniforms improves morale and instills pride amongst our ranks, then I'm all for it.

Ultimately, the uniform debate may be trivial, but who really cares? The blogosphere can be pretty darn trivial.

No money for raises but you want new uniforms? Personally I would rather have the money. Remember it is not the clothes that make the man!

Heck, this is what this blog is for - to vent, and to make known your praise, complaints or what size clothes your momma wears. Its a blog (and a damn good one at that).
And its funny but I didn't hear no (yo) bitchin when they purchased the SIX magic buses....Do you realize that for the price of those million dollar buses - how many new cars you could of had, pay increases across the board, tasers (and back up tasers), new uniforms and heck, even your own personal dog. But noooo, everytime you turn around some shyster in upper management is bilking it out faster than it comes in..
