IF YOU DON'T WANT A TICKET, THEN DO NOT BREAK THE LAW....DEEP CONCEPT I KNOW.

Sounds like a comment from some rookie that writes "no tag light" tickets.

Well citizens of Dunwoody, you asked for it and you got it. Your own police department complete with traffic enforcement. See when Dekalb was patrolling the area, we didn't have time to write any tickets up there because we were so short handed.

I'll go one better...if you don't want a ticket, don't break the law.

Or, as I learned...don't break the law if you don't have a badge.......its okay if you have something to flash.

We wouldn't want to "start a war".

Come on people.... breaking traffic laws is paramount to submitting to "voluntary taxes".

If you don't want the voluntary taxes, don't break the law and don't vote for politicians that will increase taxes.

This is not advanced physics.

Nice job Dunwoody, anybody in Law Enforcement knows its all about the money. Try to remember, Tickets are to ensure public safety, not to see how many "I can get today". Come on Sgt. they put you infront of the camera because you obviously believe the person that told you that 1 1/2 tickets per officer was the thing to say. Plenty of real crime out there in Dunwoody, Narcotics (large scale), burglaries, robberies. Lets not loose focus on the real reason citizens look at having their own Police Department. Tighten up guys. Thanks for your service.

The number of tickets equals an average of a little more than one ticket per hour. Does anyone honestly believe that there is not at least one traffic violation in Dunwoody every hour?

And yes, some tickets may be unreasonable and eventually thrown out, but I bet most won't.

Why didn't Adam Murphy report on how many tickets were challenged and how many were tossed by a judge? Also, it would have been helpful to compare the number of tickets issued with other similar sized cities, and the average number with other jurisdictions in metro Atlanta?

Why is anyone acting like this is a surprise? Departments (and their municipal governments) rely on tickets for revenue. Dunwoody needs to pay the bills somehow.

Besides, is it any revelation that a small suburban department is writing a lot of tickets? Doraville's 300 yards of 285 is always lit up like a Christmas tree.

You can't pick and choose what you get with a police department. The people of Dunwoody wanted PD and they got a PD with big, fat ticket books ready to get filled.

ok....
#1. Did anyone notice the pictures the guy took was of a speed limit sign and not a STOP sign?

#2. Impedeing the Flow of Traffic is the offense for not going at a green light....Quit contributing to Atlanta's traffic problem and pull of the road if your lost PERP!

#3. You asked for a Police Dept you got one. You should've not equipped them so well so they can do their job's just look at us in Dekalb...They never even offer us Laser Cert classes....let alone have more than one laser per precient. Just answer calls and the arrests will come.

#4. 1.5 tickets per officer per day? HAHA!! Thats nothing I write six tickets plus a day...Quit your whining Dunwoody you can afford to pay some fines living it up in your 5,000 sq foot houses.

#5. GET OVER YOURSELVES AND OBEY THE LAW....JUST CAUSE YOU HAVE MONEY DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN BREAK THE LAW!!!

Actually one ticket per officer isnt that much per day. Infact at Dekalb our guys write 3-5 per day minimum.
So I say Dumpwoody needs to step up thier enforcment, between all the entering auto cases they handle because of the idoit citizens who leave their laptops laying in their front seats just saying "Here I am take me please".
Dumpwoody news flash, yes we did enforce the traffic laws, and as pappy said Ye wants it ye gets it!

The guy that got the ticket for not going at the green light is a victim and I aain't no dove on enforcement ! Hell, blow the horn at him and forget it. Stuff like that makes us look like petty A- Hole's and a small potatoes PD. Yea, I'll say it and I'm an officer. Go catch a gas drive off or something if that's your level of police work. It's like a jack ass no policing cop that used to work for me. He used to write disorderly conduct tickets for a male and femele banging away in a parked car in a dark parking lotuntil I caught him doing it. Same level of police work. If that's all you can dig up , go home and watch Andy and Barney for some tips on how to catch real crooks. ;-)

My pet peeves of law enforcement, "Safety Checks" by local LE during the big three summer vacations supposedly looking for DUI offenders. About 8 years ago I ran into one near Washington GA and had misplaced my current insurance papers. I produced three years worth of previous insurance cards and the trooper told me he would of given me a break but had been told by the local Judge that no exceptions were to be made. Ran into a checkpoint two years ago in Elberton at 0900 on Saturday morning a half dozen cars pulled to the side while drivers searched desperately for missing documentation. At 0900 in the morning you ain't going to catch many drunks. This was a revenue shakedown by the local government. Sonny Perdue recently signed the new "super speeder bill" for the express purpose of generating revenue for Georgia trauma centers, a worthy cause fer sure but if the cause is so worthy shouldn't we raise the taxes on all citizens to pay for it rather excising an onerous fee on top of a already high fine for speeding that much of the driving population engages in. I hope some soon to retire cop nails the governors limo doing 90 on the way to the airport and soaks the bastard. As for local cops giving out tickets my motto is "honor thy threat" and stick close to the speed limit in jurisdictions known for their enthusiasm in creating revenue. My favorite speed trap story was when I was kid driving through a small sleepy town in S. Georgia on a vacation to Jekyll Island with family. The town was called something like Ludiwisee and was renowned for its speed trap. My dad said "watch this" and dropped to below the town speed limit of 25 as we hit the city limits. Immediately a set of headlights pulled up behind us as we crept through the town. We hit the city limits and the headlights turned away. Thanks Dad, honor thy threat indeed!

When I was working for Dekalb I wrote 30 tickets a year. Thats right a year. I may have did about 300 traffic stops in 3 months but I did not waste my time writing, "Improper tire pressure" tickets. Now I'm not knocking officers that write tickets. Just wasnt my thing. I was busy trying to get dope and murders off the street. Now as far as the guy who was lost, that's just sad. The officer could have asked him why he was holding up traffic. The man may have had a good excuse. But some Officer look at writing tickets as production. I can recall an Officer writing a S@W wrecker driver a ticket while he was enroute to a 41IT and he was asked to be 10-18 by the officer on the scene. The officer wrote him for "Failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign" It may have been a good ticket but come on people..the wrecker driver. Must have been a very slow day.
Dekalb Stay Safe, And God Bless!
