Well the Director of Public Safety has a chauffeur , she surely cannot be his security guard, he is over 6 feet tall and she barely reaches 5 feet. He is former SWAT too.

As long as it tax payer dollar being used why should he care?

Bolton had female driver too, so some things never change.

Thank Gwen for taking years to indict!! When you don't even get an indictment within a year or two of the crime, what chance does the state have at trial?? Remember, it is the STATE who was to bring in all of the witnesses and evidence. Try finding reports, evidence, and witnesses years after a crime took place. The more time that passes, the easier it is to get a not guilty verdict. Why do you think defense attorneys in DeKalb rarely demand a speedy trial?? It only happens if their client is unable to make bond. If their client is out, they know every day that goes by is to the defense's advantage. But our DA's and Judges don't care.

The dirtbag who dumped his baby son in the sewer committed an armed robbery and kidnapping at a business over a year ago. He STILL hasn't been indicted!! Defense attorneys like to say, "Indictments don't mean anything. You can get an indictment against a sandwich." Apparently, not with our DA's office!! They can't be bothered to bring violent criminals up for indictment within a reasonable amount of time!

Detectives have a good phrase for the D.A. Office and the Judges.....they plead guilty and guess what ........TIME SERVE AND PROBATION.

They get a second chance to steal again or rob you with a gun.

Most cases are pending for years. They usually get NOLLE PROSCESS.

Make his driver a patrolman not a ranking supervisor. Everyone can drive if they are employed with the department.

I thought I was watching DeKalb County Superior Court on tv the other night, but it was just a rerun of "Night Court." Everyone kept getting "time served and a $50 fine."

I can not believe the District Attorney has a driver. Does she honestly think the public will not notice or care? I am ready to say that DeKalb County needs a new District Attorney and Gwen Keyes should be voted out of office. Why in the hell does everyone think it makes them look important if someone is driving them around?

I have been a supporter of Director Miller but this thing with Vickie Logan gets more bizarre every week. She always seems to be hanging around him. She is ALWAYS with him. Is she his driver---bodyguard---aide? People see them coming and going from headquarters and she is with him at every function! I do not personally know anybody on the 4th floor but I wish someone who is close to Director Miller would speak to him. This thing is affecting his reputation and either he does not know or he does not care. People are TALKING!

There was an weak article in the AJC about the problems of the Atlanta Police Department (the Creative Loafing did an excellent job in summer 2007 with their investigation) and it failed to point out the main problem is the court system. For years, many blamed the Sheriff in Fulton for inmates being granted bond until current Sheriff said, we don't set bonds nor make decisions about when inmates should be released, we are bound by what the courts tell us to do.

APD officers have been telling folks at community meetings and functions for years, that as long as the courts keep releasing these folks after we arrest them, nothing changes. Now, they are back on the street with a bond that they will ignore and most likely FTA for court dates and commit more crimes.

The citizens really need to start taking elections for judges, DA and solicitor more seriously. Its time to stop this hand wrist slapping justice. I have seen officers who seen people they arrested back on the street by the end of their shifts and sigh saying what bother, luckily i'm getting off duty before I get another call about the individual.

All in all, officers can only do but so much. As long as we have more desk sitters instead of uniform patrol and detectives, the public will continue to suffer. Look at the investment that Cobb, Douglas and Gwinnett does for public safety versues Fulton, Atlanta and Dekalb. Its obviously not a priority to these people.

I don't know anything about which anonymous is talking above. I can say that I've worked for Vicki Logan and she was not what I expected.

She took care of her troops and didn't meddle. She let us get out and do our jobs. I'd work for her again without a second thought.

Take a look at the recent arrest in DeKalb County of a worthless coward who killed three people, including a three year old child. The perp has 5 different felony arrests in his past. Some have multiple felony charges. Guess how many indictments he has? ZERO!! Way to go Gwen!! Maybe if you indicted him on ONE or TWO cases, that three year old child might be alive today!

I will answer that for you, He doesnt care what you think. He is doing it because he can and will continue unless the CEO gives a crap and I doubt he does either. It is a shame that it is just more of the same. Watch your back O'Brien they be gunnning for you too. Your taking up an educated black mans position.

Mr CEO could you get us a clarification on exactly what Sgt Logans job is besides hanging out with the Director. They tried to hide it saying she was working on the great recorders court investigation, well that was obviuosly a front for her do nothing assignment.

If Burrell Ellis told the public that the new Director of Public Safety would have his own driver, there would be no Director of Public Safety. It is total BS for this guy to be arrogant enough to believe his position justifies him his own driver.

Dick Hand didn't have a driver and Manuel Maloof drove himself and sometimes his own personal car. Why to these recent "eletist" bureaucrats need drivers? I can not think of one reason except arrogance, possibility insecurity,an elitest attitude brought on by years of being a bureaucratic king of the hil?..Thises are public smployees of the tax payers pay roll. Whay are police officers and detectived used as butlers for over paid bureaucrats. All police departments are understaffed. Why in the world would police officers be used as drivers for anybody...PD of DA's office or anywhere else. People talk about a citizens review board...here is where that is needed...to watch the eletist waste of high ranking public servants who use police officers as servants....aids or drivers I wish the media would do an in dept investigation on public waste and hold someone accountable.

Curious Mind said...

Question - What does the Police Officer assigned to Recorders Court actually do?

The deputies are responsible for security and I pick up prisoners who need to be transported. If he's not transporting prisoners for PD, what does he do?

Is this another waste of taxpayer money? Or am I missing something.

Get off Logan, was she really suposed to tell the new Director of public safty "no" when he asked her to be his aide? That's poletical suicide. But, what she dos need to be awar of is the Director has 2 aides, not just her. But she is the only aide he ever takes to all his meetings and whatnot, people say he never takes Moonyham. Diffrence is that Logan is female and unmaried, director is male, unmaried. So there will be talk. There would be a lot less talk if the director took Moonyham with him at all, insted of just dragging Logan everywher. I feel sorry for her, obviusly she didn't know her job wold be like this.

From DeKalb Officers: Do you honestly believe your comment has any creditability? Your spelling is horrendous! Your comment barely got by the moderator, but we sometimes need a good laugh!.....and whatnot.

We are in a bad state when this blog has been turned into tool to politically assassinate good people. The people who make statements about DA, Director, Logan and anyone else falsely are those very people who feel that Chief O'Brien wronged them or thier friends during the turnover just a few months back. Dirty politics. Chief O'Brien take a close look next to you for snakes who will sacrifice you also when Miller is gone. Remember the rumor was at first that DAs office was your biggest political supporter when you were selected. Her choices are not that bad are they?

To political assassinations, dirty politics, and snakes;

What in the HELL are you talking about ???!!!
