"We're Really In a State of Crisis Right Now In Terms of Ethics In DeKalb County"

Go figure!

Thanks for posting this, I was hoping you would.
I have a couple of questions for the county and the AJC. To the AJC, what is the motivation and timing behind the report? Is the local news scene so devoid of newsworthy incidents that you finally trotted out this turkey out of sheer boredom? The AJC had eight years to do some fine investigative reporting about Vernon Jones and his policy of "zero ethics" within DeKalb government, but chose to remain on the sidelines even after Dale Russell blew the lid off the Bolton scandal. Why report about the unsupported and ineffectual "DeKalb ethics board" now?
For DeKalb government, what is the new ethics and transparency committee doing? We saw a notice for a meeting but no reports of the outcome. Why has the legacy ethics board been bypassed? Why has the legacy ethics board sat for years with expired terms of its members and why has the board not received proper funding or facilities to do its job?
We all know the answer, but no one will admit it.
As for the legacy ethics board (and the AJC), where the hell were you when Vern was implicated in the illegal GCIC background checks of political enemies, where were you when the DeKalb lucrative bottled water deal went down? You probably drank the stuff, and you didn't even consider the source or the cost to DeKalb citizens.
It really pisses me off when I see how good DeKalb government can be when its hits the fan with a natural disaster such as the Dunwoody tornado or the recent floods. DeKalb is better than this and can do way better if the politicians will keep their fingers out of the back pockets of their political friends.

Mates. If you can't take a joke, stay out of the county! Yes, I have way too much time on my hands, I am divorced and at this rate will stay single forever...(I do have some mighty fine dogs though!)
I have been laying off this blog because it is a police blog, and has completed its primary function of taking down Bolton and his command staff. Most of the participants have zero interest in county functions except for pay, which is dis-heartning.
Flirten' is fun, and thanks Anon3 , real sorry to see you get hammered by the blog, if you get a slow wink from me sometime then feel free to cuff me! And ditch the damn vest....

LF - Love your style and your heart! Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not one of ya'll. Do have some cuffs for ya though, but they have fur on 'em. :-)

Anon8, Whoa, at least read me my rights first. (I had better get one of those bkup cuff keys just in case!)
These guys all know I am not a cop, and put up with me because I know the history of the county due to my job, and we all share a common enemy. County management.....

LOL - Hey babe, looks like we may have left your mates a little speechless! (And BTW, no need for the keys - I'm not all THAT controlling!)
Seriously for a moment, all fun aside - I do want to sound off on this article which is about ethics in Dekalb Co, and say that I am kind of disappointed there hasn't been more discourse on this topic. This problem (although in an admittedly high status in Dekalb government) is a crisis not just in Dekalb, but the world in general. If everyone would at least contemplate the issue of ethics, I might have a little more hope. An attorney once told me that Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged' is required reading in ethics classes in many law schools. (Given the reputation (and behavior) of most lawyers, I find that kind of hard to believe though.) Anyway, if you're receptive to the message in this book, the world would be a better place. I don't know of a better source to teach or reinforce the importance of ethics in one's everyday behavior.
So - no matter what the consequences, we must take a stand against the dishonest, unethical, mediocre majority and fight for everything honorable.
On that note - to anyone who had anything to do with bringing down that truly evil, narcissistic beelzebub (VJ) and his minions, you are my heros - peace and love.
(NOW look who has too much time on their hands!!)
Hope to meet you one day....
