DeKalb Cops: Furloughs Will Raise Crime

We police officers did not over spend. We are not responsible for the unaccounted for 90 million dollars lost in Recorders Court. We are not responsible for Vernon Jones' racial discrimination that is going to cost the taxpayers millions of dollars.

But our officers do get shot and die in the streets protecting the citizens of DeKalb.

You can only push us so hard.

The CEO wants to raise taxes to cover the budget shortfall. It would cost the average homeowner about $150. The B.O.C. refuses, saying that they can not raise taxes during this tough economic time. They just can not bring themselves to do anything that would cost the average homeowner $150 a year. But on the other hand they seem to have no problem proposing measures that would cost police officers over $2000 a year. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Clark - I hope someone figures out who you are and beats the crap out of you. You're really annoying.

I'm PD, but had to add.......the BOC would take $2,000 out of fire's pockets too......and make them work ALSO the same number of hours because coverage is too vital to let it lapse during unpaid time off that could be spent with families or working a second job that could help replace the money lost in the family budget.

I really hate to say it but you are between a rock and a hard place. The rock is the people who do not what their taxes raised and the hard place are the elected 'civil servants' who want to raise taxes so that their project remain funded. Cutting police is something no tax payer wants so they often give into the tax increase. The officials hold the valid, necessary roles of government hostage.

I know who Clark is, but will never tell.

Yeah other agencies took furlough days/hours but the key point there is that it ENDED. The problem I see here is that Dekalb government is so corrupt that they will continue the practice indefinately.

Lay off Police? Ceo is full of it, go ahead! That will be a one term deal.

Gwinnett County just stuck it their homeowners and raised taxes for "public safety, courts and libraries."

Hard to swallow when GCPD has take home cars.

PS. I hate you too Clark Griswald.

I agree with Anon # 8 - and now here's something that a LOT of people need to do: LIGHTEN UP, FRANCIS. This blog has done some good in the grand scheme of things but it's still a blog - and everyone can give his or her opinion and they're entitled to it - so lighten up.

You're right Shirley - I shouldn't have picked on Clark - Ron Burgundy is WAY more annoying.

OK, I got another idea, let's set up a retired Police volunteer unit. The retired officers can work building security, drive the wagon, handle signal 3's and 41's. have them work 20 hours a month in .

In exchange they can still stay certified, work their extra jobs and free up the regular officers to fight crime.

We can cut the security company and put retired officer's ( that will save money)

oh yeah I got another idea#2
Let's put recorder's court warrants on NCIC. Also let's invest in about 10 LPR cars. These cars will tell you if people are code4 also. We will make more arrest and also bring in more revenue because recorders court warrants are on the system. (hopefully one day)

Let's meet with D.A, Solicitors Office,Feds, and Top Brass. Let's Hit them perps hard, clean the street corners and take back the county. Let's lock em up. Can we start a new street team. Let's be creative, proactive let's put Red Dogs to shame.

Cobra unit, Thunder cats, Super Friends, Turner and Hooch. Can we think of some names? We can make this work I betcha!

once again lets stop comparing allstar games with special olympics because I hate to say it if you look at the way the 2 counies are run Gwinnett is the all stars and dekalb is the short bus riding helmet wearing special people. our B.O.C has the spine of a jellyfish that can't even figure out what to do with a person who has had warrants sworn out on her
Dekalb used to be number 1 now we are the number 1 joke

You must not have to deal with Gwinnett if you think they are All-Stars.

SOME PCT.S HAVE ALLREADY TURNED THEIR ICP TEAM INTO A STREET CRIME UNIT.
THATS WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. CALL THE TEAM WHAT YOU WANT BUT THE RESULTS ARE WHAT COUNT.

Anonymous said...

If Gwinnett is a bunch of "All Stars," why couldn't they track down a criminal who is an elected official appearing at board meetings every week that are televised on local cable tv??

Duh....we can't find her anywhere! Hey, dats my red crayon!

HEY DEKALB POLICE OFFICERS

i read alot of comments on the blog and there is always that person who wants the street crime unit, black cats, cobra etc. Always talking about taking the perps off the streets. I see lazy officers on a day to day basis. AR for possession of marijuana, etc. To lazy to go and get a warrant. Half of you all are scared to even go and look for the bad guy. I would like for you all to submit ur name and prct and maybe we can get a unit with all you go mover and shakers. For the rest of you lazy officers who talk from the side of your neck. Learn how to be a police first then maybe we can talk. I will take the fulough days, but they are going to bend us over again and take 10% a pay period for about 8 times during the year. You guys better save some money from these part time jobs and stay out of pin-ups and Strokers, stay out of DKNY, StoneCrest Mall, Best Buy.

Above stated "see lazy officers on a day to day basis."

You can include me in that group.

I used to be a very productive, dedicated officer. Enforcing the law and doing my job got me screwed by the precinct commander. I learned the hard way that I'm not supposed to enforce the law equally.

I bring in my quota and look the other way on the rest. I find it difficult to hold the average citizen accountable when I'm told to ignore the chosen.

The few that I do J1 or ticket either talk themselves into a ticket/jail....or they're the type that just plain need to be J1'd or ticketed.

To the anonymous person that stated, "lazy officers". You must have been fired and now you are bitter. I would be bitter too if I was FIRED. Or maybe you are the ex-girlfriend or boyfriend of a police officer who works a lot of extra jobs to make ends meet and they couldn't spend the time with you because they were never home...awwww! But like the above stated. It's not worth going out there busting your ass, just to get done in by the Commissioner taking your monies, taking you merit raise. So who gives a $**T how you feel. You can reapply with "All Star Gwinnett" and make Warrant arrest on a pinch 28. I know you know what 28 is. LOL.
