DeKalb Didn't Realize The Number Of Unhappy Employees

Now the county wants to refill the positions opened by the early retirement stampede.

Is Keith Barker insane?

How will police response times increase, when most of the pd who retired were supervisors? That will have 0 impact on response times. What will impact response times are the 2 officers taken off the road to guard the CEO's house!!

Refill the positions?....I thought O'Brien told the "student council" that he was gonna let these lists expire and use the next list.

Which way is up?

It appears that the staff that Ellis has in place are clueless in running this county.

They go to the Pension Board for help in reducing debt, then pay for a study. Guess what they don't follow either path.

So we are going to replace people that took an early retirement, with a vacation package. That deal will cost the county money paying pension board back.

The study showed how we have too many leaders.
The police department has to many leaders. Get rid of the top brass no more promotions and bring back my Holidays and raises.

I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I want to be on you.

Ron Burgandy, Are you a troll or just permanently brain-dead? You contribute no insight to anything or how to fix our problems. If you are a DeKalb employee or retired then start acting like one and start offering solutions rather than garbage.
/Rant off. I just had to get that off my chest.
DeKalb is in a financial crises and our political leaders are clueless on how to fix it. Their solution to offer a gold-plate retirement incentive was ill-conceived and only provides more evidence that DeKalb leadership is just plain stupid. Already they have rejected the GSU study because it does not follow their progressive agenda of providing extraneous services for non-essential government functions.
County roofs leak like a sieve but that's OK because we have a nice new aqua-park and the performing arts center, plus the CEO and BOC have spiffy new offices whenever they decide to drop in.
As to employee morale. Since 1997 and the notorious Price-Waterhouse salary study the BOC has made it clear to the professional staff that DeKalb government is overpaid and that only Police and Fire-services will be granted raises.
Under the circumstances, the 800 plus new retirees made the only logical choice available. Get out while the going was good.

I don't blame the new retirees for leaving this loonie bin but I do fault the gold plated deal they got at the expension of our pension...inclusing what Loflier says was a gift as opposed to a loan to the county to impliment this fiasco. We need a watch dog to watc our so called pension "representatives"

LoFlyer,
Relax. Do you really think this blog is going to actually solve anything? I enjoy Ron Burgandy's comic relief. It's good that you feel like you can actually contribute a solution to one of our many, many problems but don't freak out on someone who wants to try and lighten the mood a little.

Ron I won't give you a smart-ass reply because I feel no need to engage in a flame war on this blog.
There are a lot of folks on this blog that I respect a lot and would love to meet and down a few beers with, and discuss current events. I have a good sense of humor and find yours juvenile.
With that said I know you will continue with your ways and I will just have to deal with it.
I have a lot bigger fish to fry and you rate as a minor inconvenience. I'll get over it.
If you can't take a joke then don't work for the county!
