Today the commission voted to bring back the ones who took advantage of the early retirement, at approximately 1 half of their yearly salary. They will be rehired as contractors with a cap of 3 years.
The county also saves additional money because any health benefits will be covered by the retirees pension plan.
Is this a good thing? Probably
Details are still being ironed out. We don't know if public safety will be included or not. But why wouldn't they be?

Haagh! I told the guys when I left, I'll come back when you start paying real money. I doubt many retirees will come back even part time. Too much BS and no respect.
DeKalb government will never acquire competent employees under the current conditions.
I beg the BOC and CEO to engage the employees in discussion of county issues and problems. While I am sure it increases the self-esteem of DeKalb politicians just knowing that they do not have to answer to lowly DeKalb employees, it does not increase operational efficiencies in DeKalb employees or government.
DeKalb employees want the best government possible for DeKalb citizens. Why does the BOC continually screw DeKalb employees at every turn? This is a lose/lose proposition for the county and its employees.
DeKalb citizens deserve better mates!

Ask yourselves.....Would you go back and work in that place with all the BS for half wages? Maybe some of those who retired are masochists, but I doubt they'll be many. Sounds like another socialist dream world plan to me. Yeah....sign me up....i'll be there. I love you. Hugs and kisses. RIGHT!

They had no plan in place when they approved the early out. Did you happen to notice how many rats jumped ship in Decatur. And now they want to give all employees making less than 35,000.00 a year the equivalent of 2 lost holidays. I'm not hating them but what about the Officers working the road they give you nothing but a slap in the face. If they want to furlough us give us the day off like Atlanta PD did. No these are some RAT FINK BASTARDS WE HAVE FOR A BOC. They keep the manpower on the road while they simply reduce our pay by 10%. I say its about time for a Decatur Tea Party Mates.
Run Retirees. Leave this BS behind. They will find a reason to fire you if you do come back. And then you get nothing!!!
I'll go for that..a Decatur tea party..they need it worse than anybody. One thing that I'm really concerned about is the lack of representation on the pension board and the lack of answers on the alledged shannanagins (sp).

Let me spend that time with the family you took it from!...even the unemployed get the benefit of getting to spend time with family.....you took my money......leave me the silver lining.
I'll be in uniform in a car on these holidays.....but guess what...I control what or IF a ticket or arrest is made. I also control the response time to that call IF I decide to go at all....
