Surely Burrell Ellis Wouldn't Tell A Lie....

Burrell Ellis responded to a letter written to him by an unidentified officer known as "I'm Ron Burgundy?". In Ellis' response, he said "I have pledged to reduce my own salary for every unpaid holiday as they occur".

But back in February he said it is law that he receive holiday pay and he couldn't reduce his pay if he wanted to.

So, which is it Mr. C.E.O.?

Then, how could Shirley Franklin reduce her pay and cut her own office budget. Even in 2008 with those controversial cuts, she made more cuts to her own budget. While i'm no fan of Franklin, at least she put her money where her mouth is. She even at one point drove herself around town rather than using a city car to cut costs.

With the Fulton school system, all employees took furloughs including the Superintendents office and the Superintendent herself. They opted to close the administrative offices on Mondays to save money over the summer.

The City of East Point is using their website to host more frequently requested items so they can close city hall one hour earlier everyday to save money.

The newly created cities have outsourced several services. But yet, Dekalb seem to can't get it.

Ellis maybe Dekalb's first one term CEO if this keeps up. I forgot, he's entitled to his money because he works such long days. Police work long days and if something happens before shift change, they can't go home and let the next officer handle it, they answer the call. And like the CEO, police are salaried. Just like in the restaurant business, a manager can't leave until everything is handled.

We need to strike .

If there is not serious change, Ellis WILL be DeKalb County’s first one term CEO. He may not even last for the entire first term if he is not more careful. The question is who will be the next CEO when Ellis is voted out? If the police are to have any influence at all we should start thinking about it now. We can not wait until 3 months before an election.

Ellis is a smart guy, just like Vernon, except more personable and less character flaws. I understand if you want to get on his good side, then contribute greenery and flowers for his office. Nothing to it, mates!
Besides the ethically questionable contracts Ellis has approved that benefit his election manager,
what I am more concerned about is CEO Ellis and the BOC's increasingly reclusive role in DeKalb government.
The CEO and BOC hide behind multiple card accessed doors and the security of several deputies and cops, they are never seen by DeKalb employees unless at a commission meeting, town hall outing, or a ground breaking that get themselves mentioned in the Champion.
The retirement incentive plan recently offered by the commissioners provides ample evidence of their disconnection with county employees and their functions.
The BOC was taken for a ride by pension board members that like the commissioners themselves, were more concerned about personal benefit rather than what was best for the county and the pension system.
This is the crux of the problem. The CEO and BOC make their decisions based upon personal benefit than what is best for DeKalb government.

Truly sux, mates!

Thanks LoFlyer. I see that there is at leat one person out there that is concerned about our pension and is in tune with the ( I'll just say ) shortcomings,
or the pension board.I see that they have an attorney to represent them. WE need someone to represent us against the pension board. I know that there are others outside this blog that are concerned about the pension and the pension board and the so called representatives we have on the board. I wish these concernes were able to be addressed by the blog admins and maybe the FOP, since the FOB seems to be in tune with all that is going on with our once great police department. Continue the conversation please...comments?

I feel sure that they are planning some type of response to the officers that are writing warning tickets. Do you think they will have a certain number of tickets an officer is required to write?

Does this county depend on the revenue from traffic tickets?

I heard stories that Vernon wanted everybody writing tickets for his General Fund. That was his spending money.

I never thought DeKalb would become another City of Atlanta with a Bill Campbell type operation . Look at all the ex-Atlanta people working for DeKalb.

I wonder if Vernon Jones is a millionaire now?

I hope Jones is a millionaire now so that he will use some of his loot to get the hell away from Dekalb and the state of Georgia.

Hell I wouldnt believe it unless I seen his paycheck stub anyway.

One term will be a great personal accomplishment for him. If the citizens ever wake up and see what this administration is doing with their money he won't make a full term. I encourage everyone to do as I have and write the Justice Dep't and ask for a full investigation into the corruption in this county. Contracts, diverted tax funds, personal perks, 911 funds, and on and on. Ellis will be lucky to avoid the indictment route if he is not careful. I for one educate the citizens every chance I get about this BOC and CEO. The school superintendent probably also thought he was a mighty leader at one time.

This is the performance that earned Sheila Edwards that huge raise?? Wow! Can this blog get a copy of and post her exit performance evaluation and see if the CEO even mentioned this. Let's expose him for the fraud that he is!

Tic Tic Tic that is the sound of the budget clock. What will it be Decatur admit you screwed up and make good on your bad decisions? Or do you force the citizens of Dekalb to sleep with perps...Cause when this county is broke and the police dept. caves in on itself....The Police Dept. will be no more and everyone better have perps as friends....Cause the citizens will be on their own....Thank about it. No Police and the economy going down the tubes...Everyone losing their jobs and more perps being created by the hour, because of the hard times....ALL BECAUSE THE ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE GREEDY AND CAN'T KEEP THEIR HANDS OUT OF THE COOKIE JAR...

I STRONGLY suggest anyone with 10 or more vested years to freeze everything now and leave while you still have a pension to freeze. You'll be sorry if you don't I assure you.

It seems Center Precinct brass has been told to talk to their troops about production....keep up the warnings boys and girls, Decatur is starting to hurt...

Who makes up the command staff at Center Precinct? Oh yeah, Higdon, A.J. and Sonya Porter. Good lord! Now that group of misfits instills a sense of confidence in you that they will have your back huh?

Speaking as brass holder myself, I will assert my 5th admendment right and not say a damn thing to the line officers until our mission has been accomplished.
Telling us we must write citations is nothing more than a quota, and the media will have a field day with it as well.
Listen my guys are ready to go back to work and stop writing warnings all I have to do is give them the green light.
I have no doubt that the officers will do this, so long as were not being screwed with anylonger and given our fair dues.
You decide BOC, HOW LONG MUST IT CONTINUE.

Special Operations has done nothing to help us out with this. Their numbers have stayed the same. If you have friends in Special Operations, you may want to ask yourself if they're really your friend.

I work at Center. We are not being pressured.....yet.

Center brass is not pushing tickets. All that is said is" Put the thugs in jail and write warning tickets to our good citizens". We still have an obligation to protect the citizens of DeKalb.

When will East and Tucker join the warning ticket parade?? Those supervisors need to step up and unite with the rest of us.

Has anyone heard anything about an increase in the pension contributions or with medical premiums for the upcoming year? No increase in pay, but you possibly want me to give you more! And you Mr CEO and BOC are looking out for who?

I have heard that Sutton Barnes took her Dekalb County purchasing card and bought personal items and has spent lots of the tax payer money.

Some things will never end.
