My prayers go out to the officer for a speedy and full recovery.
he's gonna be ok, i just left the hospital as he came out of surgery and the doc said he'll be ok but it's gonna be a long road to recovery. He's gonna need our support guys cause we know the BOC doesn't give a shit. Lets see if any of the county commissioners show up at the hospital to support him knowing that he's working an extra job to pay the bill because the BOC saw fit to take pay from officers to "balance the budget" aka "pay out hush money". Z we love you and we're praying for you!
Officer's shouldn't have to work part time jobs to make ends meet. They do because the BOC continues to take money out of the hands that protect the county. It's sickening. I pray for the officer to make a full recovery.
The BOC balances the budget on the backs of the police officers.
I'm glad to hear he will be okay. Hearing about the accident threw me for a loop.
Just under 4 years ago something similar happened to me. I was doing an off duty funeral escort for a funeral leaving from a church on Oak Grove Rd. Someone turned out of the procession and took me out.
Many of you were helping my family and praying for me. It was touch and go, but I made it. If he gets half the prayers and support yall gave me, he'll be back working before you know it.
What we do on and off duty is dangerous. It's good to know that no matter what happens, we're all still family.
Thank you all for what you did for me, my family AND more important... what will be done for this officer.
Godspeed on his return.

I'm glad he's ok... I was hit on 41 at Windy Hill when I worked off duty for DeKalb Motor Escort. Same situation. Old MAn pulled out of a parking lot and I caught the front bumper and flipped over the car. A good friend of mine, Richard Teague, whom I worked S Pct with was killed on Ponce when a car turned right in front of him.
We need to make sure his bills get paid and he has plenty of leave to cover his recovery. The one thing the BOC can not do it take away our sense of brotherhood !
Andy I'm with you....The first thing that came to mind when I heard this was Richard. I'm glad the officer is going to be ok!!!
MAY THE GOOD LORD BE WITH HIM AND HIS FAMILY! SINCE NO ONE ELSE GIVES A FLYING **** ABOUT US, WE MUST TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER!!!
ILL KEEP ON CHECKING TO SEE IF DONATED TIME IS NEEDED WHILE HE RECOVERS..
PRAYERS!
Here's the pitiful thing. Z would have to take 30 days of unpaid leave before any donated time kicks in. WTF is wrong with that nonsense.
Got an update on Z. He is on life support and has a brain bleed. High possibility of brain injuries. Docs are keeping him sedated because when he does have brief moments of consciousness he is very agitated. Docs say it way be several days before they know if there is indeed brain damage due to the injuries. He also has a vertebral break in the upper spine but docs say that is repairable.
Found it hard to believe that no Dekalb officers were posted at the hospital to support and be with the family. Thought that was policy for you guys in such a trying time with a fellow officer. Our prayers are for Z and his family. And all of you officers that risk your lives everyday for the safety of our communities. For those of you that do know Z and his family, today is his young daughters birthday. Such a sad event on what should be such a joyous day for his sweet child. Please show you love and support for his family.
Prayers here too for a full & speedy recovery.
I have no doubt we, DeKalb Officers, will support this officer as much as possible. If he needs donated sick days, we'll be there.
It's just sad that our commissioners won't take time out of their day to sit down, look at the county budget, and figure out a way to end furloughs and give us raises.
Is there an update on his condition today? Praying for the family.
Does anyone have hospital info as far as visitation hours and room?
Does Gwinnet Hosp. need any blood donated (in V's name) in the event he needs transfusions due to scheduled /unscheduled surgery? Pls post here if anyone knows. I, for one, although am no longer part of DKPD, would be glad to donate blood if my type is a match. Jeff, if he does indeed need blood to be banked in his name, maybe you as the head of our FOP could get something moving on this . Just a thought....
Z was released to go home this morning (09/25). There will be plenty of rehab. in his future but nothing that he can't handle.
That's wonderful news. I wish him well in his recovery. As a citizen, I appreciate what you do Officer 'Z'.
So happy he is out of the hospital. What type rehab will he require? I will him all the best.
