Some seem to be celebrating that the ticket slow down has worked, we got our furlough and the ticket slow down has ended, that we have victory in hand. But not so fast.
First of all, there are no winners. We are all losers. We continue to lose pay, at least now we get to stay home with family and friends instead of risking life and limb for no pay. The citizens lose because during the furlough days, public safety will be at risk. Until the end of the year, there will be less police and fire personnel working. No victory there.
Secondly we would like to thank the C.E.O. for admitting we at least have his attention, if not all the commissioners.
Thirdly, we would like to say to all the other departments in the county; You're welcome!
Now. We have a long way to go. Just as Chief O'Brien said, there are more issues to address. We will be addressing these issues in the upcoming days. You can bet they include; changing our work schedule, Recorders Court scheduling, how the commissioners look to Recorders Court as a cash cow, increase of insurance premiums, increase in pension contributions and of course the wasteful spending of taxpayers money, i.e. new precinct buildings.
A word to Judge Nelly Withers and the all the commissioners: Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Yet the board of health just received a 2.5 million dollars for teaching people not to be over weight in Dekalb......Eazy!!!stop shoveling food in your pie hole!!!!Another few million out the window!!!Good Grief.
First of all let me say that Jeff Rader, and Lee Mays are complete idiots if they think we are not united and stagged a ticket slow down.
The simple answer is yes we did, and yes we are going to continue until we get no furlough days and our pay restored.
You found the money for staff pay raises, then damn it you can find the money for ours.
We currently have 7 buildings that house police officers.
With those 7, we are understaffed with police and cant even fill up the ones we have, so why would we need any more.
How much money is being saved by out sourcing fleet vehicle maintenance to good ol Malcomb Cunningham.
Surely by doing this there must be money in the budget now for pay raises.
Or is it as Im guessing someone has now lined their pockets with some cash.
Politics as usual, so we will continue the good fight. Remember there are strength in numbers, and the BOC nad Mr Eliis have now seen what we are capabilbe of.
It takes time and nothing happens over night, but the results are being seen.
It's not just one days pay taken, it was 10 percent for that pay period.
These same commissioners have been on this board for the last eight years.
They are the reason for the budget short fall.
Mr. Mays, what is the right way to send the message????
Who needs to get up there that hasnt already and tell you in your face that we are in a crisis? No pay raise, yet you raise our insurance and pension?
How about this:
You are destroying this County and eventually there will be a collapse in Public Safety because everyone that is worth anything will leave. Give us a cost of living raise and give us the proper equipment we need.
Give the PD that 2 million and we will go out and educate the public on being fat.
Why does the media keep calling the FOP a union? It is not a union the Fraternal Order of Police is a brotherhood. Each time I hear the word union I'm reminded of Eastern Airlines and what their union did for them.
Union vs. Fraternal order......I sent emails to and got nice responses back from both Wendy Salzman (spelling?) and Richard Elliot. They apologized and said they'd remember in the future.
Union just seems offensive and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Union brings to mind political hacks interested in rubbing elbows with the politician fat cats..... fraternal order ..... fellow officers volunteering their time and efforts to represent themselves and their FELLOW officers.
Are you supposed to be happy now that you get to choose the days your pay is cut. That's ridiculous. There should not be furlough days for cops period. You put your lives on the line everyday and can not be compared with a county clerk or administrative assistant. BOC figure out your priorities before the good guys are gone and you're left with the thugs running the county.
I don't think the ticket slow down worked. I think Ellis said that to fool officers and you idiots are falling for it. He realized during November a large portion of officers salary will be taken away so he change positions so that he could look us in our faces when he screws us!
Ok kids let's keep this thing going in the right direction. CEO said it in front of the camera. We got their attention...Ok Mr. Ellis now that we have it let's work with it. You and Chief O'Brian need to sit down at a table and invite the BOC and let's get some issues worked out..My troops are ready to get back to the business as usual (Police business)...We can kick into high gear if we feel like we are being heard and taken serious...PD is flexing the only muscle we have, because you guys in Decatur can't or won't admit when you have erred in your judgement. 2011 is not going to be any better than 2010 if we (PD) don't start bringing in some revenue..Yep I said it loud and clear..P-O-L-I-C-E bring in the revenue. The same revenue you are so very much in need of RIGHT NOW...Cause this County is sinking FAST....So how bout all the CHIEFS gather the wagons around the table and leave the EGO'S tied to the hitching post...and brain storm some idea's that reflect good will toward the employees and demonstrate a little COMMON SENSE..THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL WE (PD)START SHOWING YOU (DECATUR) THE MONEY.....WHO NEEDS A STINKING UNION WE JUST NEED SOME GROWN-UPS TO MAKE SOME GROWN-UP DECISIONS.
ไม่จ่ายค่าแรงในวันหยุด มันถูกต้องเลยนะ และไม่เคยเกิดขึ้นในประเทศชั้นมาก่อนเลย
The above translated means...
No pay holidays and furlough day it's not the right thing and never happens in my country.
