Are the "Magic Buses " on the block?

Rader- "I hope this is something we don't see happen again..."

You and the rest of the clowns in the Circus approved the purchase of the magic buses.....dumba--

Thank you Chief. That's the first positive thing I've seen in a while.

Who do you think approved all these motor homes to be purchase for the county ? The BOC when they were afraid of Vernon at the time. Why would anyone approve this type purchase?

Remember when Vernon said he wish he could buy 20 more of them.

The BOC approve this wasteful spending.

I'm just waiting on my 17 furlough days to come in 2011.

I use to love working here but the last few years make me wonder if its worth staying.

Hey Rader if you want to "give something back to the Officers they can use." How bout a pay increase and no furlough days. Always smile for the cameras and keep your dog and pony show behind closed doors.

So is the money from selling these things going to go toward something useful like cars? Or maybe an updated cad system?
Which district is Rader over? If he's anywyhere near mine I'm going to work my best on voting him out next election.

Terrell Bolton was quoted as saying " What you talking about Willis?". One step in the right direction Chief O. Rader here is a novel item that officers can use, RAISES, PENSIONS, AFFORDABLE HEALTH INSURANCE, etc. I know some will miss that queen size bed in the back. You know who you are!

That money belongs to Lil' Vern.

YOU SHOULD SEE THE BABIES GWINNETT HAS FOR ITS SWAT TEAM AND THE MOBLIE COMMAND POST...GEZ. NOW THEY ARE GETTING A SWAT TRUCK DESIGNED LIKE THE FIRE HAZMAT TRUCKS. I ONLY DREAM ABOUT THE WAY IT WAS IN DEKALB.

Anonymous said...

Well, look at Gwinnett's Training Division. It is soooo not ghetto and Sction 8 like DeKalb's...

Anonymous said...

Yeah....but Dekalb bought a mobile sky box with their grant money. Bet Gwinnett doesn't have one of those.

Nothing like sitting up in the air with no where to run when someone decides the little box with the police logo would make a great target.

Just about every department comparable to Dekalb has better facilities and equipment than us.

It's amazing that about 20 or so years ago the DeKalb County Police Department was rated something like #3 in the nation only behind LAPD and NYPD. As I understand it, we were the first to get semi-automatic handguns (Berettas) and KDT's. This agency was on top and all other agencies aspired to be like us or try to get close. Then the Democrats started taking over. Now everything has gone to shit and we are at the bottom of the barrel. Such an unimaginable tragedy.

Doh! I was going to offer 20 grand cash for one if no organization had bought the damn things. There goes my dream of tooling through Alaska in my personal magic bus.
Best wishes and a speedy recovery to the officer injured yesterday.

The money problems in the department are not the departments fault. Blame the county government. The run down buildings, crappy equipment, etc.. is a result of the county government not staying on top of their budget and making good choices. I wish everyone would stop blaming the police dept for these things. Whether its Chief OB, Burgess, Bolton or whoever none could have made financial changes without the BOC behind them. Yes 5 buses was a waste of seized funds, but seized fund could not have been used for cars, raises, holiday or furlough pay anyway. DeKalb can still be a good dept but when people in the dept refuse to be happy and do their job instead of crying and whining about every thing it brings us down further. Things are bad for every county employee, not just police, but the show must go on. Be thankful you have jobs in a time when so many do not. Be proud of the uniform and badge that you wear, because no matter how you feel, when you wear it people look up to you. Stop walking around so mad, there is enough anger in the streets and you shouldnt bring that to work and then back home. Thats my vent....goodnight

To anon 5:42

You should have seen Dekalb years ago. I was born and raised there. There was always crime of some sort there like any community but the elected officials in Decatur understood that public safety was the key to quality of life. I moved away 20 years ago because of the elected officials that were being elected and the crime spree that was soon to come. I could see it happening all around me and I knew what was fixing to happen. I wasn't going to allow my children to be raised in that environment.
Now the elected officials, and the fools who elected them, only worry about themselves and the criminal element that elected them.
The Police Officers of DeKalb were always top notch and the equipment and training were the best. I knew several years ago, when the county turned down (free ?) brand new Glock 40 handguns with night sights for the department to replace our worn Beretta's because the 40 cal round is "racist". In other words, I, as a police officer, was better off dead AND politically correct, than alive and politically incorrect. About that same time a lot of other officers saw the writing on the wall and some of the most tallented cops you could have ever known left the department in droves. The leadersip in Decatur basically said "im sorry but we will not offend he criminals by allowing the use of a better weapons for you to defend yourselves".
Thus began the spiral out of control we are now in today. 20 years ago those "magic bus's" would have been put to good use and retrofitted as rolling intox machines for the DUI task force or as a SWAT command post. They would have earned thier keep 10 fold. But under the type of elected leadership of the past 15 years or so, all they ever were ever used for is rolling whorehouses for the political elite. Its good they are gone.
I ask you this: What type of police department would go out of thier way to put someone like Terrell Bolton as the chief and keep officers like Don Frank and thier ilk around? What citizens would go out of thier way to elect Levitan & Vernon Jones and keep him in power? How about that crooked sheriff getting elected several years ago that had a Dekalb Police Officer, Derwin Brown murdered in his front yard in front of his family? Who would intentionally put worms like that in charge of the finest Police Department east of the Mississippi?
Connect the dots if you can and maybe, in the next 30 years, things will turn around. Personally I dont think we have seen the bottom yet.
