All the county leaders want more tickets, means more money to the General Fund. I wonder how much this county depends on Recorder Court to generate revenue for the budget?

I wonder if all counties depend on ticket revenue for operating costs of a county.

I feel a big ticket push coming in 2011 to help make up the deficit of the budget. I wonder how many tickets each officer will be required to write. Bring back the GAP program is next.

We all know it was the wasteful spending of the BOC and CEO.

Just wait and see what they will be requiring for 2011 to generate revenue. If the quotas start we all have the contact numbers for the local reporters. By all means don't balance the budget through spending cuts. ( wasteful spending that is . You might have noticed that Gwinnett made their budget cuts with Police and Fire services being left untouched. They made the cuts elsewhere. Wow, what a novel idea!

We were blasted at today in roll call by the Major for not writing enough tickets. Threatened to have our part-time job approvals yanked, encouraged to leave if we don't like it, or involuntarily transferred to somewhere else if we don't increase production. In the meantime, we are being cut back from policy-permitted 38 hours/wk in part-time/overtime allowance to 20 hours. Thanks Major. Nice to have your support.

You know, Internal Affairs currently is processing over 70 requests from other agencies for current officers seeking employment elsewhere. 70! Hmmm. Ellis and the BOC keep whining about having to "absorb" into the budget the 73 officers from North Pct when Dunwoody incorporated. As if 73 DeKalb officers actually patrolled Dunwoody. The reality; each day across 3 different shifts less than 8 (YES 8!) officers were policing what is now Dunwoody. Really some misleading, smoke and mirror stuff to the citizens of DeKalb their numbers. Well, when in the next three months or so when these 70+ current officers seeking employment elsewhere kicks in with their resignations and mass exodus, Ellis and the BOC will no longer have an excuse of having to "absorb" the payroll for the "73" officers thanks to the loss of Dunwoody since so many are going to be leaving voluntarily.

Heck ya baby...2011 is the year of the ticket. Nothing personal strictly business. Drivers beware in Dekalb, your department has been put on notice to drastically increase ticket production.

To anon 11:12 p m: could you share with us the Major you are referencing or could you provide your assigned precinct?
Know this might create retaliatory actions(surely not in THIS department!) against you should your identity ever be discovered but if you feel comfortable in providing this inform. I know many people in this county and elsewhere who will be most interested in knowing this Major's name. Many of us call the commissioners & the CEO's office to voice our concerns about the treatment you officers are receiving & write letters as well but just as is the case with you all, not a one of them really gives a SH!! Lies, lies and more lies..seems that's all they know how to be successful at doing. Bring on the elections but that won't stop the jack-ass actions of superior officers such as your Major. Good luck, & thanks to you all who are still hanging in there to protect us. We truly are appreciated!

I'd bet good money that the officer was referring to East/Stathis or a Center/Higdon. Nothing concrete... just a betting man.

To the citizen who responded, we truly thank you for caring. You pay the salaries of these commanding officers whom mistreat their subordinates. To the major keep up the good work because sooner or later your name will become public. The CEO and BOC don't give a rats ass about you either Mr. Major. Stop worrying about them and focus on protecting your greatest asset, your people.

SURPRISE......SURPRISE !!!

Why would expect anything above the norm by the BOC. Those rocket scientists at the BOC "could not find their way out of a clear poly bag".

Actions by the BOC is nothing new and will not change til everyone of that bunch gets voted out.

We as readers, acted "shocked" at their actions by reappointing idiots and crooks. WE SHOULD NOT BE SHOCKED BY THIS.

The best thing to do from here on out is to grin and bear it, because nothing different is going to change.

I'll have to come to Higdon's defense. It wasn't him.

Anonymous said...

To anon 10:37

Id be careful of Higgy. Hes a company man and he will throw you under the bus if it suits his needs at the time.
Still, even Higgy is one of the good guys compared to some in the department. Yall need to be watching your back now more than ever. If ticket production doesn't increase drastically in 2011 then you will see majors with thier heads on the chopping block.
The systemic problem with DeKalb rests solely at the feet of the elected officials whos failed social ideas have brought this county to the breaking point. The Police Officers are just the worker bees trying to protect the hive. Trying to fix the financial woes of DeKalb with revenues from traffic tickets is like blaming the pool guy for not quickly filling up an olympic sized swimming pool by using a coffee cup. Until they change thier way of thinking, or are replaced by those with good sense, then poverty will be the norm in DeKalb.

I too was notified today that starting immediately we need/have to write more citations. Just like the ticket furlough folks hit em' hard with the 10-67 Wiskey...its still a citation but a warning. As far as the some of the majors go, some need to be given a PBT before they go 10-41. And not just because they are drinking the KoolAid.

To Dekalb Citizens: Don't worry about that pesky property tax increase. The BOC has come up with a better tax plan.....

TICKETS-TICKETS-TICKETS

It's open season on driving in Dekalb. For those of you who remember how bad Pine Lake was, we're going to make that look like nothing.

Threaten me with extra-job loss, transfer and a "road block" squad..well I got the message. I don't care if it's a cracked tail light lense, you're getting a long copy and have fun waiting in that line at Recorders Court.

Anonymous said...

I hope EVERYONE stands strong with the ticket initiative. Again, don't slow enforcement, just write warnings. If you give in you are hurting everyone in this struggle and your efforts will be forgotten by your ticket pushers overnight I assure you. I know at our roll calls our supervisors remind us backup comes first along with our safety, EVERYTHING else is secondary.

Anonymous said...

Will the responsible Major fess up and tell us it was you who gave this ultimatum.

Anonymous said...

I heard it was Major Ellison

Anonymous said...

So Dekalb County officials want to retaliate by making us afraid to drive in their county?? (What I'm REALLY afraid of is having to go to Recorders Court...)

Well how about this, citizens - let's take our business elsewhere!! Don't step foot in Dekalb County with your wallet.

Anonymous said...

Major Ellison?! Really?! It really disappoints me to hear that. That's too bad :(

Anonymous said...

Actually I think we have it backwards now! The citizens are the ones that the BOC listens to. The citizens have been getting a break because of our ticket slow down. We need the citizens to go to the BOC. How do we do that? Make them as pissed of at the BOC as we are. Write'em for everything. Get your dimes out and check the tread depth......And tell'm that we are being required to write more, more, more tickets and since we can't find legitimate tickets to meet the new demands here is one for your emissions, tread depth, cracked tail light, etc..... I hope that bill passes that will give us bargaining rights! The BOC will be in for a rude awakening then!

Anonymous said...

Couldn't agree more with Anon 1:55. The ticket slow down did not work. It did not get the attention of the citizens.

Now is the time to write long copies for every little infracture. BOC you an increase in tickets....well hope you're prepared because a Gestapo policy is being pushed onto officers and we are going to comply. You want tickets, we'll here they come!!!

Now watch the CEO or Stogner try to say we never told the department to get back to writing tickets.

Anonymous said...

NO, we're NOT writing tickets for your career Major so stop attempting your elementary reverse psychology on this blog. Your posts indicate just the opposite, the ticket slowdown HAS in fact worked.

Anonymous said...

Ticket slow down worked???? Could you please explain?

Anonymous said...

You all are FOOLS if you go out and write tickets for such a sorry BOC and pd command staff.

Can anyone confirm who this major was?

Anonymous said...

It has worked in the sense that it has given power back the ones risking it all, the uniform officer. THEY control the county's sole revenue generating department. NOTHING will change I assure you so long as WE are neglected via pay, equipment, facility, and respect.

Anonymous said...

Just curious why anyone thinks the ticket slow down has worked. Do you honestly think you are going to prove anything to the BOC? Have they not shown time and again that they will do whatever they dang well please?

Here's a simple fact, they will put pressure on the chief and command staff. If he/she cant get what they want they will get rid of them. So all your ticket slowdown has gotten is the chief fired. Why can't any of you see that?? Maybe some of you have forgotten just how bad the last few chiefs/command staff have been but I haven't. Here's a few names in case you dont remember; Graham, Marinelli, Bolton, Pearson, Farley, Duncan, Flemister, Keisha, APD rejects, and the list goes on.

I'm going back to writing tickets to old ladies and people who go to church. Maybe I can make the one group of people mad that the BOC does listen to...the voters. Also a huge increase in tickets would get the attention of the media. Questions will be raised as to why there is such an increase..surely not for revenue they will say. Also it will be interesting to watch as they try to pin it on the chief as his initiave when it was their idea all along.

You don't want to write tickets fine by me. Remember that when our chief is fired, you've been transferred, and extra job approval's go bye bye. But atleast you show'd them!!!

Anonymous said...

YEP, at least we did and had integrity doing it. Look that up while you're writing old ladys tickets. Sadly, YOU are probably one remaining past his prime with the sole agenda of making everyone as miserable as you. You think no one repeats the horrid things you say about others but trust me, they do. Some people are only energized by others demise and YOU are clearly a sad example of such.

Go ahead and deny an extra job request for productivity. I heard one was recently denied by an unknown supervisor for just that reason. Whoever signed off on it just had a punitive suit filed against that individual because the officer was effected financially. Hope you like having your wages garnished the rest of your life idiot. Yes their attorney gets 30% of the recovered damages but it will more than compensate for the denied extra job. Since it is a punitive suit on an individual get ready to pay defense and court costs too, your corrupt county cannot protect you now.

Anonymous said...

It should be enough to show up in that dump and respond to the high risk calls in itself. Everyone should have backup and not be alone on these calls because of a ticket push to better certain worthless peoples careers. I think you know what you can do with your ticket push.

Anonymous said...

Anon 2:36: You truly are an idiot and embarrass the police profession. Extra jobs are a privilege, not a right. They can be ended or denied for any reason. The county did not guarantee or promise extra employment. They promised you a wage, which they can reduce at anytime. Remember furlough days?

If I were your supervisor, I would pull or deny all you extra job request. In the comments section I would write: If breathing was not a natural, uncontrollable reflex of the human body, this officer would be too stupid to remember to breath. Request denied.

Do us all a favor and quit. See if you can say these 6 easy words: "Pump 6 is ready to fill"

You moron!

DeKalb Officers said...

As far as we call tell, no extra jobs are being pulled based solely on low production. This seems to be nothing more than rumors. It appears some are attempting to make the rumor viral through the blog.

Until we are given evidence that extra jobs are being pulled merely based on the lack on production, such clams will be filtered.

Keep up the good work!

there are ways to keep everyone happy and go about your business. yes, there are good and bad supervisors in every pct. and every unit in dekalb. they are here to stay and that is just life for us. it is sooooo embarassing when citizens approach me, show me a ticket and ask what to do about this. (ticket) for a tail light being out or, tag lamp inoperative or, not signaling. to normal citizens that do not need an attitude adjustment. you guys and gals got to remember that there are people that deserve a ticket or 2 or 3 and ones that deserve along copy warning. dont go out there and write a ticket because THEY tell you to. do it because whoever you stop NEEDS IT. for all you guys that say there going to start writing church people etc....what if your mom called you up and said that she got 3 tickets, not signaling, your blue line decal covering up the county name on the plate and a brake light being out ???? would you say, go pay it mom or....what kind of idiot cop wrote you those ? dont piss off the ones that we need, just the ones that we hate with a passion. STICK TOGETHER GUYS AND GALS !! STEVIE.

Dekalb County is MUCH more dangerous than surrounding areas. Each 911 call is potentially a career or life ending scenario. Until EVERY officer has back up on EACH call you can write your own tickets and get your own stats. But you ticket pushers are probably the same ones that study for your promotional tests at work while your teammates are out working and risking their lives.

To the poster making the argument to write citations to keep from getting the Chief fired, it is YOUR mentality that prevents positive progress. According to you we should all just do the devil's work for him because if we don't someone else will. Have you EVER made a stand for whats right or have you been a kiss ass your entire life. I imagine a kiss ass and a Capt or above.
