Mayor Pushing Police To Live In Detroit

A house for $1000 in DeKalb? Could this happen here? If so, would you really want to send your kids to DeKalb County schools?

You could give it to me free and I still wouldn't live IN Dekalb County.

Then again, are they thinking about giving houses in Dunwood or Sandy Springs?

I live in DeKalb and have no plans to move. The crime in my area (north of I-20)is not too bad, schools are actually pretty good. I would welcome a serious look at providing special mortgage rates/prices for law enforcement. Perhaps even Fire as well. Schools are the main problem. My friends who teach in South DeKalb complain constantly about the discipline problems they have, and an admin that won't do anything about it.

Dream on elsewhere!! Who in his/her right mind would live in the crime infested, crooked leaders, lousy streets, high taxes, total mis-management of government, and every thing else that could go wrong in this county? Even if the county gave you a house with all utilities included, you still would have to put up with all of the above. Even the benefits currently are the pits, so why would you subject yourself to this?

As long as you are currently sane (we hope) and are semi-satisfied with your life, stay smart and stay away !!

I read this and a POAP for an ICP officer's home comes to mind ....... a suspect lives in Dekalb and knew where he and his family lived.

No thanks..... I'm sure that was a strain on him and a strain on his wife....I don't need additional things to worry about.

Not a chance! I lived in DeKalb for free for years in a courtesy apartment up until the end of last year because I couldn't take it anymore. There was no way in hell that I was gonna send my son through this corrupt-ass school system. I have such little faith in DeKalb County that I have given up my rights to vote in county elections because I would rather my family live in a community where they don't have to look over their shoulders at every turn. DeKalb County will never change so long as it's constitutes continue to support and re-elect the some spineless and corrupt people to hold the title of BOC or CEO. Why is there a CEO in DeKalb anyway, this isn't a buisness, if it were it would have shut it's doors to bankruptcy years ago.

I answered an alarm call one day in the old "160s" territory and once in the school I opened up the stand up frig. and saw the food in there....."this is what they are feeding our kids?"....I moved out of Dekalb a few months later and make the drive...it's worth every penny of gas...to see my children in a better area than dekalb!!
